Wife and I are sailing in January.  I emailed my benefit request form and proof of share ownership on December 3rd, asking for an acknowledgement of receipt.  No response, nada, nothing.  Nothing on the Oceania website for my account.

Sent a follow-up on December 16th. Radio silence, black hole.  Nothing on the website.

Sent yet another follow-up on December 20th, copying InvestorRelations@nclcorp.com, NCL shareholder benefit email, and my guess at the ship's concierge and purser emails.  This morning (21st) received an email stating only "Benefit was added to your booking on December 6  as a SBC."  Still nothing on the website or any evidence of a credit.

My darling wife was somehow able to get Oceania on the phone.  The person said that they would process the request and that the credit would be applied as a "gift".  Wife managed to get them to send an email with a Guest Statement attachment, showing the correct gift amount.

Subsequent to this, the website this afternoon shows a "COMPLIMENTARY SHIPBOARD CREDIT - NCLH Shareholder" under Credits.  So the claim that the benefit was added on December 6th seems bogus.

Overall, a frustrating experience, and not the first time.  Surely this can be handled better?

What are your thoughts and experiences?

     always have issues with this...

where did the O email come from, will send them an email to the address they gave you...thanks...

On the other hand so far for an upcoming booking have only found excursions to our liking and are not booked  that do not even use the full SM benefit so far have used $475 of 800

yup there is that too....we are forced to hurry and book tours, or they will be gone...all before final pay, then some will cancel cruise and the tours may become available.... forcing the consumer into a very poor way to deal with this SM policy.

Someone in charge  needs to act fast to rectify a very poorly thought out policy.

  3. for me it is not about how we like O, or how we like others...

its about the way lines raise their prices...

raise the rate, fine...but dont start fudging with the new SM that you have just rolled out and want people to swallow....give them time to digest it before you change it again...

yes some need a longer time to digest than others...but  only a couple of months  of SM is just too short  to already introduce a change....bad policy decisions...

    This is a great summary.
Dressy jeans in the GDR are fine but a few people will push the envelope. I’ve seen some people wear jeans that would be more appropriate for yard work, not dinner. I haven’t seen a lot of people wearing jeans of any sort in the GDR.

I agree that jeans in the hot summer are uncomfortable and they are heavy to pack. I only wear them on the plane. Lighter weight pants are better for various reasons.
    Just my opinion.

yes I agree with that...I dont agree with taking a lot of clothes...

so many lost their suitcases that it was an ongoing topic on the ship....

    the laundry is fabulous....

Difficult to obtain a best price guarantee from O, when they have quiet sales, which are not posted on O website, and offered to select TA's.

If pax know about a quiet sale, any TA can book at that price, from my recent experience.

Remember, servicing your booking when issues occur, a well connected TA with O, is more valuable than an OBC or rebate.

An extremely well connected TA helped me with our Alaska cruise.

I looked at a black Friday sale cruise, a nice price.  Checked prior price from a brochure, and itin was changed to omit Israel.  Only problem, disembarks in Valetta.  Air itin would be intolerable to get back to Philly.

Yes we had that one booked before turkey and Israel were Removed. No way am I flying from Valetta for that one. Too many layovers.

We have been fortunate, in all of our years of cruising we have never needed a TA to intervene on our behalf. But also have never benefitted from a quiet sale. Yes if a quiet sale would become known to me , I'm sure any agent could book it.

  6. Yes wish you were with us Feta...we didn't get to spend any time with you.

If Alaska is on sale, we will book it again. It will be our third time there but never get tired of it..

    Sept 14. Come with us.

Next year we are pretty much staying on the continent.

    • Thanks 1
  7. Yup my O rep called me.

It will be on the 14th.

No clue what it will be.

We are on our way now to Barcelona and will be on the Marina on Monday. So guess it is best to book on ship. Not sure I'd sale is combinable with booking on the ship perks. Will find out next week.

    Thanks Jan.
