Called NCL and the rep said we go by Canada’s regulations. I’m gonna chance it, and do the rapid PCR…I say that now but my anxieties will probably get the best of me and I’ll do a rapid in Canada 🤣😂. Now I wish we weren’t flying in 2 days early.

They are just as confused as we are!  No, enjoy your time in Vancouver, you deserve it!

  2. @LMKakaThing2 I had to check for myself, because Friday would certainly be better for me...here is the chat transcript:

Robert (4/22/2022, 3:33:17 PM): Hello Charlotte. Thank you for chatting with Norwegian Cruise Line. My name is Robert. I would be happy to assist you today.
    Charlotte (4/22/2022, 3:34:35 PM): HI
Charlotte (4/22/2022, 3:35:05 PM): I was wondering..I have a bit of confusion around testing times for a cruise going out of Vancouver
Charlotte (4/22/2022, 3:35:11 PM): Leaving on a monday
Charlotte (4/22/2022, 3:35:25 PM): NLC states 48 hours
    Charlotte (4/22/2022, 3:35:33 PM): arriveCan states 72
Robert (4/22/2022, 3:36:42 PM): Good afternoon, Charlotte. That is correct. If you want the test to work for both requirements, I recommend keeping it within 48 hours.
Charlotte (4/22/2022, 3:36:58 PM): Perfect, sure will, thank you!

NCL states that you have to have either PCR or rapid done within 48hrs, but Canada states 72hrs for a PCR. NCL does state unless stipulated by local regulations that would supersede our policy.

Leaving out of Vancouver, is it 48hrs or 72hrs for a PCR test?D91606F2-12BD-45FB-9916-3ED72B082677.thumb.jpeg.567bf1bf8f280812773ae672761e0036.jpeg

Yes, I have the same confusion, so I am going with 48 hours.....but I can as I'll still be in Denver.  I would maybe reach out to NCL chat?

  4. We are sailing on Jewel from Vancouver to Seaward and back again beginning of May.  I've never been on a back to back, very excited, but wondering with recent COVID protocols,, and the like, what would this look like.  We will be staying in the same cabin, unless the upgrade fairy helps us.

What do we need to take with us when we will be leaving in Seaward.  I heard that with Royal, on a back to back, you need to pack up and go back, like a new cruise.  Any help is appreciated!

  5. I live in Denver as well.  I did take early morning flights out of Denver for LAX.  I haven't had an issue, but sounds like you made a plan that works for you.  With the time change that was also a factor for me.  I figure I have 7+ hours to get it right if there is a hang up.Given the time of year that you are going weather shouldn't be an issue.  If it was in January, I may leave a day early.   Now going east from Denver is a whole different  story, I always go the day ahead.  Have fun on your cruise!

  6. So, I know nothing about the Thermal Spa Pass...but I am intrigued. What is this?  What does it include and is it busy..worth it?  What and how do you use it.  I would love to hear all about it.  We are going to Alaska on the Jewel in the beginning of May.  Thank you all for your tips and information.

The thermal pass on the Jewel is so so worth it.  We were on the Jewel on an Alaskan cruise and it was the perfect place to be in going into see the Glaciers.  You are right up front and center so you can relax and see the sites.

We are going on the Jewel to Alaska!  Could you please tell me about the thermal spa?  What does the cost include?  I appreciate your input!

  8. For us, we compared a land vacation vs. a cruise and we certainly got the most bang for the buck with a cruise.  With families, when there are offers for kids to stay in the same room for free, it is a bargain to be sure.

  9. So I want to make sure that we are all covered in our group.  There are six of us,  4 in our 60s, one 70 and one 90 years old.  Three of us have cancer as well.  So, I was wondering how would the best way to purchase insurance.  Together, separately?  Do we all have to have one cruise reservation? This would be a trip as a gift to my husband's father, but of course no one can tell what will go on between now and September.

  10. Great advice from everyone.  I will be waiting a bit,  then spend the extra money on buying a refundable ticket....I am sure the cost of insurance wouldn't be any more.  Hope that the cruising industry gets back on its feet.  We took a short cruise in November and had a wonderful time, all protocols were followed, but I guess that vaccinated or not, it is going around!

We noticed that also on our last cruises before covid hit.  We were on one of the last cruises before cruising was shut down.  I did fill out the survey as they requested, but I would of anyway without all those reminders!

Glad to see that you got the negative test result that you needed to get on your cruise, I know how stressful that must of been because my husband just tested positive this week and we are suppose to go toward the end January and I am worried about his test.  He also is fully vaccinated.  When did your tests start showing up negative after your illness?

Glad you had a great time!

Thank you so much!  We really needed a getaway!

Rapid antigen test a couple weeks out was negative and I just had a PCR test this past week and was negative.  I hope that your husband tests negative as well! Enjoy your cruise!

  12. We just came off Adventure, and it was mentioned to us from 5 different crew members how important that survey is.  Mentioning specific crew members by name, and being specific as to why they were good is very important.  We even tipped our waiter extra at the end of our cruise and he unceremoniously put it in his pocket and said, the most important thing we could do for him was to fill out the survey....being positive of course.

Braised lamb shank, my favorite MDR entree.

New vegan items I like is the chibatta salad, grilled peach and panzanella salad, rice paper rolls, and the toffee “cheesecake”

I did a bunch of 4-5 night sailings and sampled the new menu.

Oh...where do you get the rice paper rolls and what is in them?
