Thanks for this. How did you hear about it?
And...as soon as I posted that comment, I found the email notification. We're on the road at the moment and it was buried. Duh.

Is this World Cruise "live" thread going to continue and become the 2023-24 cruise? It was fun to follow you, Garry and Arlona and I'll keep checking here to get the rest of the story if you'll be here. Otherwise, please start a new "Live from" when the time comes! Thanks so much for all the entertainment you and several others provided over these long months of scarce travel.
I don't expect that it will. We aren't booked for another world cruise but will be blogging future travel at kolbsontheroad.blogspot.com - the next cruise starts in one week!

Does next September mean 2022? If so hopefully you’re still aboard for the Hong Kong to Bangkok segment. Need to buy you a drink for all the vicarious pleasure you provided via your WC blog.
No, that would be "this" September. 😀
We sail in September 2023 for this trip.

We have been on numerous Princess cruises. Nothing will compare to our WC. Be prepared for lots of kids, noisy casino, lots of drunks and ok food. It would be better to compare it to RC or Carnival. Viking is in its own class. We are doing the Viking from Bergen to New York next summer and doubt it will compare to our WC.
We're doing 5 of the 6 cruises that make up Viking's Grand Pacific Explorer next September. I think it will be more like Homelands and Scenic Scandinavia we're. The second two cruises were certainly different than the WC. The menu went from WC amazing to Viking standard very good. Plus, there was a different vibe than when all the world Cruisers were on the ship.

Garry - Please post a link to your Princess Cruise here so "Your Followers" can find it. We did two weeks on the Emerald in April. Hopefully you are not too disappointed with the food.
My blog address is kolbsontheroad.blogspot.com
Everything will be there. And, after the WC, I think everything will be a disappointment.

Gary and Arlona, welcome home! Take a welcome deserved rest.
We look forward to tagging along on the nest world cruise. Leaving from Fort Lauderdale in December of 2022. We will be in FL a few days early, just to make sure we don't have any problems with flighks ts, AND we want to explore Fort Lauderdale. Any hints on what we should do in those few days?
Thank,s as well as to anyone having some input on what to do in Fort Lauderdale while we are there.
We live about four hours from Ft. Lauderdale so I don't have any recommendations, sorry enjoy the WC!

I'm curious as where you are off to next month?
Just a basic week in the Caribbean. Credits from 2020 cancelations are expiring. Use or lose.

Good thing you have three weeks of relaxation before the crowds of Princess
Yeah. Not looking forward to full cruises. We are definitely spoiled.

Welcome home! You mention the aircraft, Boeing 767, in our last few trips we have been comparing Airbus vs Boeing and we much prefer Airbus…slightly more legroom and seats way more comfortable.
And we have flown the new Boeing 737 Max 8 and let me tell ya there isnt even elbow room in economy and seats have no cushion!Agreed. The A321 from JFK to MCO was much nicer, but the seats had little back support. Ahh, the "luxury" of air travel. 😀

The ones in my blog? Google maps, Photoshop, and a pen tool. Nothing fancy.

Do you use a DSLR or a phone or …?
Mainly, I use a Sony RX10-IV but I also throw in shots from my cell, a Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra when I need a wider shot, a selfie, or when it is too rainy to carry the Sony.

not as wonderful as being on a WC but I certainly enjoyed your adventures and appreciate the dedication! and what a terrific gift for all of your fellow passengers!
Since this is a continuation of our WC, it's sort of the same thing, just with different people. 😀

Garry - now that you are nearing the end of an amazing adventure, I'd like to thank you for your dedication and allowing so many of us to live vicariously! Were you a writer or photographer in a past life? Especially enjoyed the so many pictures of statues/sculptures. You should put them all together into a slide show video.
Did you ever try to calculate how many hours/days you expended in your blogging over these many days? It would have taken me forever!! Your efforts much appreciated! Safe travels.
Kent
Thanks for the kind words, Kent. In my previous live, I was an IT manager but I did have a side gig as a sports and portrait photographer.
As for hours, one to three hours daily, so let's call it 350 for the cruise. But, if I didn't, there is no way we would remember it all!

I join your many followers in saying Thank You for all your blog posts. They have been entertaining, heartfelt and informative. Your photos are outstanding. Your dedication to write each day as it happens is awesome. I've used blogspot as the platform for my journaling and our photos from travels. However when we travel i barely get my hand written notes done let alone ever writing the blog. Thank you so much for taking us with you.
Thanks for all the kind words. I'm humbled.

Live from the Viking Neptune World Cruise 2022-23
in Viking Ocean
Posted
Yeah, Viking's internet tech is dated, and it is true that the farther south you go, the visibility line to the satellites degrades and therefore the service does too. As has been said, other lines have figured it out. Viking really needs to step up here. People expect it.
