I was being lazy. I thought I remembered someone saying there was better shade on the terraces...maybe it was more space? (they both start with "s" so bounce around in my brain together 😉 ) If you see someone laying the wrong way on a double lounger in complete shade, it may be me 😄

On larger ships: There are more laundry rooms. The smoking lounge by Horizons does not have a door (on O-class, not sure about A-class = Vista) so if smoke bothers you, use the other entrance. Some people like the spa terrace better (more shade, T-therapy pool on Riviera). Oh, and there is the executive lounge for suites and concierge lounge for A-category.

The sports deck on the larger ships has a paddle tennis court and a croquet/bocce area in addition to the shuffleboard and putting greens that are on all ships. This may seem trivial, but I really like the location of Baristas on the larger ships. While it is indoors, the large windows let in a lot of natural light, plus it is close to the library and game room.

If you seach for OLife (or O-Life or O Life in Titles only to limit the hits), you'll see a lot of opinions about this subject. Here is one: I don't guaranty that it is the best train but it probably has everything you ever wanted to know (and more 😉 ).

Here is how the upgrades worked for an itinerary I was considering on Riviera: O-class pre-sale cabin price to sale cabin price C to B4 B4 to B1, B2, B3, or A4 B3 to A3 B2 to A2 B1 to A1 A1 to PH3 PH3 to PH2 PH2 to PH1 While exact upgrades may vary, this is a good start for getting an idea of what a typical upgrade scheme looks like. I'll see if I have one for R-class and/or inside to OV.

Wasn't there an impromptu talk by the F&B manager (I think that was her title) about the time she spent with Julia Child on that day too? Come on people, what generation are you from? Enough with the "I can't do anything unless someone plans it for me" attitude. If you can't find enough to do on an O-ship, I am truly sorry for you. We constantly miss something we would enjoy because there is so much to do.

I wonder if they are doing any changes to the E-category cabins. They switch to single occupancy after the 2nd California cruise in September. The only changes I'd do are to use a smaller full size bed and add a comfortable chair with a storage ottoman that doubles as a side table. But then I'm an engineer, not a designer 😉

Yep, the only Alaska cruises are in May-July...the reverse LA to Vancouver in May is showing plus the quicky Seattle RT to Alaska in June. There is also the longer Tokyo to SFO in June/July (we've been eyeing the LA to Tokyo version but my husband is busy in the fall....someday!).

Just May and June 2023 to Alaska. For January...just cancel and rebook. You may risk losing a certain cabin (or category) but if the bookings are slow it's probably low risk. Your TA should be able to view cabin availability (well, so can you...I do it all the time and my TA teases me for doing her job 😉 )

Now that we know which itineraries will be part of the sale I have a question about combining discounts. There are some itineraries in the upgrade sale that are also part of the 10% O-Club savings. Can these be combined? I am also within 30 days of my next cruise; can I also receive the Past Guest discount and lower deposit? Has anyone combined either 2 or (gasp) all 3 offers? I'm reading the fine print but have not seen any definitive statements about combining special offers (the T&Cs for the sales are mostly the boiler plate O-Life excursions and airfare info). I would ping my TA about this, but she is working from home this week and mostly having fun with out of town visitors so I don't want to bother her with "what-if" questions until next week.

It is also worth noting that the current online prices are what you'd pay today (and likely after the sale). On August 30th the online prices will change to show the upgrade-sale price (so there is no further upgrade related price change). This was a source of confusion during the last upgrade sale.

Bar bill? Definitely!🥂🍻🍸🍹🍾🍷 😄 To cancel, exchange, etc. you (or your TA) has to call O. I had to call a couple of times for other shorex related reasons and they were very helpful both times. I don't recall waiting on hold, or if I did it wasn't long enough to be annoying.

If you are looking at a cruise that is far in the future there may not be prices yet. Try looking at a similar itinerary from the previous year to get an idea of what prices may look like. If there is not a similar itinerary, you can look at the shore excursions for each port an click on the link "Cruises visiting this port" (to the right of each excursion under where the prices would be) then pick one to see probable excursions.

Definitely relax since it sounds like you're good to go! Remember, the "old" Covid coverage from O only covered expenses AFTER your travel insurance paid up (so it was essentially secondary insurance). In other words, if your travel insurance covered everything, then O paid nothing. It actually favored those who self-insure since there was no (direct) extra charge.

Yes traveling, even on an insulated cruise ship is complicated right now. If self-insuring does not fit your risk tolerance and you want some financial security, buy some travel insurance and you won't need to figure out what O-covers or have lawyers reading documents you may never need to use. If your medical insurance does not cover international trips, make sure you have that covered too. Since travel insurance is usually a reimbursement for costs, be sure to have large amounts of credit or cash available to pay for any emergencies. Treat Covid like any other medical issue from now on and you'll be as covered as you choose to be.

I agree with ToxM; get travel insurance and make sure it covers Covid. Depending on when you sail/sailed, the "Covid perks" vary. For my September cruise to/from California, the only covid-perk left is that if I test positive for Covid within 14 days before embarkation, I get FCC (or possibly a refund). All of the other benefits have disappeared (for MY cruise) if I have read everything (Ticket Contract and https://www.oceaniacruises.com/health ) correctly.

By the way, YOUR Ticket Contract is the be all and end all for your particular voyage, except where it is superseded (see contract intro) by https://www.oceaniacruises.com/health and the passenger rights doc (can't recall exact name...referenced in contract). Plus, they can amend/modify the terms with a notification.

No, O does not cover the costs associated with getting any illness anymore. Check your Ticket Contract. The one I just received in my blue book provides FCC (or a refund if the law requires) if a passenger is refused at embarkation and has followed the rules (layman paraphrase). If you test positive within 14 days before embarkation and don't tell them, you have broken the Ticket Contract and leave yourself open to all hell breaking loose.

LHT28 pretty much covered it. The only thing I'd add is that there is room service all day. Even the basic room service menu has some nice items...our favorite was the Mezza (sp?) platter...typical pita, hummus, olives, etc. which makes a nice lunch substitute or pre-dinner snack.
