  1. What a refreshing thread? I was expecting a brag-fest about the fanciest and most expensive cabins that folks have spent their kids' inheritances on. Instead, the "who cares?" vote is prevailing two to one!! (I didn't really run the numbers and it's early on election night - we all know how that can work out🤣)
  2. Can't people who this bothers just wait and board at 2 PM? Why spoil the early drinking and eating and drinking and drinking for the rest of us?
  3. Port: Skagway. Nice little town to walk around and the beautiful train ride. Ship: Bliss. Nudges out Encore. Room: Dirt cheap Aft Balcony (first runner up - dirt cheap anything). Cruising is NOT about the cabin for this sailor.
  4. So your DH and DS knew this and abandoned your bags? Maybe you should be talking to them and not me.
  5. I avoid the problem by having a drink (or two). At that point, I have no issue with that backpack sharing the next barstool.
  6. You may be right, but CC is the number one cruise forum and viewed by hundreds of thousands of avid cruisers. If NCL is smart (I'm not saying that they are) they would be keenly interested in what is being posted on CC. To this day I believe that the CC posts are the main driver in NCL doing a rapid reverse course on those stupid in-person Musters.
  7. Yes, the horror. Folks have died from those things, or at least lost their sanity. The humanities!!!! 🤣
  8. That's funny. At least the bags were still there. I'm guessing that one would need to spend a LONG time in the restroom before anybody would jack their bags. Did you give them a good talkin' to?
  9. It wouldn't matter. It's binary. Either all cabins are ready or no cabins are ready.
  10. So your husband and these other distractable men bolt from wherever you're at just as soon as you excuse yourself to use the ladies room? I'm not sure the problem lies with NCL here. disclaimer: I'm just kidding. Nobody who is traveling with partners needs to "lug a carryon into the public bathroom." Take it with you to the buffet/bar? Sure. Nobody cares. Even if you forget it in the bar after a successful start to the cruise, it will still be there or at lost and found. I just put my backpack in a spot that I'll trip over it when I descend the bar stool. Works every time! 😎 Second disclaimer: that's never really happened. 🤣
  11. Some people just want to be miserable. No, I don't understand it either...
  12. Have we seen real evidence that NCL has changed the hours in any meaningful way? I review a lot of the posted dallies and I'm just not seeing it. We saw one situation where they shifted the breakfast hours earlier due to an early port arrival. That makes perfect sense.
  13. Very nice. When I can't find a Guinness, Newcastle is my backup. 🤣 That's funny. Thanks for the fantastic review. You have me looking forward to our upcoming AK cruise even more than ever! It will be our third AK cruise....this year!😎
  14. They charged for only the first week after Covid shutdown, and that likely because they had to limit demand due to lack of available local resources.
  15. 🤣Well, they used to be. Maybe they still are? Are you accepting of my sheep and hog per capita numbers?
  16. That sounds great. Thanks for sharing. I do like some Leonard Cohen! As it should be!
  17. Yikes!! Just to put this into perspective, there are 2.84 sheep per square mile in Iowa (but 422 hogs per square mile). Iowa has the highest literacy rate in the nation and the most hogs per capita. What does this have to do with cruising? Absolutely nothing.🤣 disclaimer: I've only set foot in Iowa a few times in my life, but it is a really nice place. Fortunately, I don't believe that there is any meaningful bear population. Live in Iowa. Vacation in Alaska.😎
  18. Sometimes even daughters just have to admit, Dad does understand some things! 🤣 I'm starting to think that your dad is who I want to be if/when I grow up. Maybe I'm already part way there.....
  19. That's funny. On the Bliss in April, one of my (many) new bar staff friends stopped by where I was sitting and asked if I wanted another cocktail. Although I was not quite finished with my previous libation, I told him with a smile "okay, you twisted my arm." When he brought me my drink, he asked about the reference, having never heard it before. I demonstrated by grabbing my arm and twisting it, telling him that it's like somebody doing this until you surrender. He thought that was very funny. The next day he saw another bartender at the bar offering me a drink and suggested that he might be twisting my arm. 🤣 Sometimes it's the simple fun on a cruise that you take home with you. 😎 I can't wait to be back on the ship, making many new friends!
