The OP nailed it for us....we just "feel" something when we board an NCL ship.  Vibe is a great way to describe it.  My DH says it feels comfortable like we are "home"  Definately my Happy Place onboard any NCL ship.  I can't wait until October!!!!

I'm likin' what I'm reading about NCL's "vibe". But, of the many cruises I currently have booked, my first NCL cruise won't be until Encore Oct 23 - Nov13, 2022, from Seattle to Miami (via Panama Canal). 21 days in a studio cabin (I'll be solo)!

Could you please report back on the Single Infinite Veranda experience? I have one booked on Edge for next March. I'd also love to hear about the thermal suite; I'm a big fan of the NCL version and wonder if the Celebrity version is also worth the money.

I'm booked on Celebrity Edge in a SIV on Oct 2nd. I'll let you know how it was.

I wanted to add this photo to my previous post, but couldn't find it at the time.  It's a selfie taken at the top of St. Paul's Cathedral in London.  I climbed the 500 and something steps all by myself since sis didn't think she could make it.  No one to take my picture so I did it myself.  And it was awful.  Red, puffy travel eyes.  But, still......the top of St' Paul's.  The Millenium Bridge in the background.  I used the crop feature on my photo app to create this photo, proof I was there.  Time to get better at selfies!  IMG_0225-1.thumb.jpg.c0fbea72a452e3610ee4814a64a095c3.jpg

I have also decided to embrace the fancy a bit. I will be sailing on Celebrity next month with a set dining time for the MDR and an evening dress code. We'll see how that works out.

Me 2. I'm booked on Celebrity Edge (in a Single Infinite Veranda stateroom) on Oct 2, 2021. I'm going to have to "step up my fashion game", lol. I don't mind dressing up a little more for Celebrity but I'm like you, I think I prefer the more casual, "freestyle" type of cruising.

My only experience on Celebrity was awesome!

Again, from a solo cruiser perspective, Celebrity is very solo friendly and appears to be increasing their marketing to solo cruisers. Celebrity Edge has 16 Single Infinite Veranda (SIV) staterooms , Celebrity Apex has 24 SIVs and the new Celebrity Beyond will have 32 SIVs!

  6. Previously, Carnival was my "go to" cruise line. Now, I will be trying all the mainstream cruise lines (CCL, NCL & RCI) plus Celebrity. However, I will be comparing the lines from a solo cruiser point of view. I'm definitely curious about NCL's studio cabins & studio lounge plus assigned ship staffer for the solo cruisers. I know I won't get anywhere toward a loyalty status with one particular cruise line but oh well, variety is "the spice of life".

Aww, rats! I forgot about that hip beverage all the cool kids are chugging these days. I may have to downgrade my palate to coincide with the mac & cheese I'll be gnawing at.

Oh no, you said the "r" word...

Now consider the chaos on board when passengers who did not provide proof of vaccination are denied access to the dining rooms or theater because there isn't sufficient space for their social distancing.  I suspect the cruise lines will have to issue some form of a badge or wrist band to those who've provided proof of vaccination.  No badge/wristband, then you're part of the 5%.

And in the MDR, no badge/wristband? NO SOUP FOR YOU!

Ask them to throw in a splash of maraschino cherry juice to turn it into a cherry lemon drop. Those are my favorites, but you can usually only get them at the martini bar.

I typically like the fruity and sweet drinks, especially the frozen ones. But for someone who doesn't like sweet - go to the whiskey bar and try everything on that list. You'll find one you like at some point.

Stand by, you may soon develop an affinity for White Claw 😉.

The calls emails are asking if people are vaccinated and if they will be willing to volunteer proof of vaccination at the pier. Those who are unwilling to volunteer proof will still be allowed to board. The Florida law says that companies cannot *require* proof of vaccination and cannot deny services to people who do not provide proof. In the case of Celebrity, those who do not volunteer their vaccination status will be assumed to be unvaccinated and will be required to undergo frequent COVID testing at their own expense, will be required to wear masks at all times onboard when not in their stateroom or eating/drinking, and will have to stay in designated sections of public spaces (theater, MDR, etc.), but will not be denied service.

Thanks! I'm not so confusion anymore. That makes perfect sense. I guess that's why they call you JaimeLogical.

According to Celebrity, the Edge will be sailing today with the following numbers:

    Onboard

    • 1,195 guests for an occupancy ate of 41.2 percent. The 2018-built ship can take 2,900 guests at 100 percent occupancy.
    • Two unvaccinated adults.
    • 24 unvaccinated children.
    • 100 percent of crew have been vaccinated.

26 unvaccinated is only 2% of the passengers. I guess that means they have 3% of wiggle room in case anyone shows up at the pier without their proof of vaccination or refuses to show it. I assume these numbers come from the calls/emails they have been doing all week to confirm that passengers are vaccination and willing to show proof on embarkation.

I'm confusion. Don't the calls/e-mails violate Florida's new law prohibiting companies from asking vaccination status? I believe Celebrity Edge is sailing out of Port Everglades, Fla today.

Has anybody really had any problems with kids running around on an NCL sailing in November?  June - August, perhaps.  I've never sailed during those months and really don't remember seeing many kids at any time.  Also, those who really annoy me (rar

e occurrence) are generally closer to my age range (i.e. old).

    Ah yes, aged vermin. 😉

Not a loop hole.  Just a business strategy.  Sail out of places other than FLA until this mess is sorted out.  Yes, I know, they still have a handful of FLA cruises that haven't (yet) been cancelled.  They fired a shot across the bow with this week's FLA cancellations.  Likely just sitting back now to see if FLA changes course.  (see what I did there with the ship references?? 😁)

    I like ship references.

I believe that it is stipulated by federal law as 60 days from when merchandise was purchased or a service was scheduled to be delivered.  I wouldn't put much faith in what a CC company tells me.  When I don't receive what I paid for, I call them and tell them that I am contesting the charge.  I've never had a problem in the rare times I've had to do this.  Of course, I always start with the merchant and only contest the charge when their answer is unsatisfactory.  A cruise line wanting to sit on my money for months after they cancel a cruise is not satisfactory.  That said, many consumers just allow it to happen.

I hear ya. I once ordered  a package of assorted 🧀 and the company over charged me. Once I put in a dispute with my cc company, it was amazing how fast that company reimbursed me. 😉
