Off Solstice yesterday; My apologies to all of you
Baggy178 replied to jc foster's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Always. And busy ? Just don't eat at the same time as everyone else. I get that some people like to dress up and be served by someone but weigh up all the MDR negativity on here against any poster on here who has complained about the quality of food in the OVC ( anyone ) then it's a no-brainer. -
It's probably just me but if a holiday company started with any of that nonsense about putting in bids to upgrade to a higher level I'd tell them where to shove it. Doesn't anyone have any self-respect these days ? The more you indulge these grifters the more they're going to rip you off.

The thing is when you're proponents of Ninja Cruising™ all these complaints about declining standards and lousy food in the MDR are irrelevant. We eat buffet 3 times a day. Always great choice and as we're late eaters for all three meals there's never a problem with getting a table. Unless you stump up for speciality restaurants you're enjoying mass catering in the MDR and mass catering is, well, catering for the masses so haute cuisine it ain't gonna be.The new menus I see look okay to this buffet hound.Lobster tail is overrated and I love mashed potatoes with gravy. It'll get me used to eating through a straw in my later years 😅 The more I read the complaints about Celebrity the more I'm convinced that it's the wealthier passengers who seem the unhappiest. We're paying £70 a night each for our next TA cruise in Oct - for a balcony cabin, unlimited food, free entertainment, three days ashore including two in the Caribbean and an army of staff catering to our every need. Amazing value and we'll enjoy every minute of it. -
Yes there are umbrellas to rent. But we found a small bar and restaurant where they're free if you stay for the day to eat and drink. Taxis are cheap but we had a car rental anyway so can't tell you exactly. Just a nice quiet beach with no blaring music or party crowds.

So are you upset the poster used the term decrepit or that he preferred not to be on a ship with a lot of elderly people in wheelchairs or strollers ? Seems a perfectly reasonable opinion if you're spending thousands on a cruise. It's one of the reasons we don't pick cruises aimed at the elderly even though we're coffin-dodgers ourselves.

My wife is terrible when she has her beer goggles on. Like most Irish people there's simply no off-switch when she gets the taste. Thank goodness for non-alcoholic gin. Many a night she's convinced she's downing the real thing when I've done the old switcheroony. Fortunately on cruises the price of booze acts as a natural deterrent.🍸😉

Nonsense. If you're a useless singer it doesn't matter how old you are or how much training you have you're still useless. And as a paying customer I have the perfect right to consider you useless and not make allowances because you're just starting out on your road to stardom. Would you accept a terrible meal in the MDR because the feller who washes dishes fancied having a go at the cooking malarkey

Why should he offer one to you even though you keep insisting he does ? He's entitled to his views and to express them as robustly as he wishes within the confines of the CC rules. You didn't like what he wrote ? So what. Get over it. Didn't bother me in the slightest and I spent a decade looking after a close relative who was wheel-chair bound after a stroke.

This was our dinner appetizer - a tower of mushrooms in garlic topped with a thick slice of grilled halloumi cheese and a slice of toast. Simple but effective.
