  1. We've already moved everything out of the inside cabin. We think the noise near the balcony one has been fixed. I guess we find out tonight
  2. We've taken similar age daughter on P and O big ships. They join the teenage clubs make friends and you barely see them all cruise!! Loads for them to do. And Arvia has more for them to do than any cruise ship past or present. And the shows cater for them as well. As well as cinema and escape room
  3. Well breaking news again. We now have 2 cabins!!! Lol The cabin we booked. Which is just a standard inside Cabin 5348 And also a large balcony cabin!!! Cabin 10240 Basically each night in our original cabin about 2.30am and then again 4.30am we got noise. It was people moving stuff about for about 15 minutes It's happened all 3 nights. We complained after night one and were told It might have been luggage being moved But it's happened again both nights Second night we complained again and the deck manager said it might be cleaners in the gym and he would ask them to be quieter from now on. But same again last night. Almost like clockwork. Our room backs onto the gym Anyway my wife's packed the cases gone to reception and they've offered us room 10240. It's a large balcony cabin. Twice as nice as our cabin and next to a cabin with a huge balcony. Only issue is the reason it's available is there's been noise under the floor next to the big cabin next door. So clearly someone has moved out from this one. They must have sent them somewhere even nicer! Lol And there are workmen working on fixing the noise problem as we speak So they've told us to try the new cabin today and tonight and keep the old one whilst we decide whether to move to move to this one or not It's a great upgrade if they fix the problem. Meanwhile weve got key's to both cabins til tomorrow lunch!! Lol Anyway off to the Cocktail bar inside a pool next to our sunbeds to celebrate potential good news I if they fix the noise that is!! It's 11am ish here. Sea day. Heading to Dominican Republic tomorrow. Last night we watched a spaceman show in the dome. That had great bits and poor bits. Will review later. We had buffet dinner last night. All good there. This morning full English followed by pancakes with chocolate and strawberries in the buffet with great table next to the window - breakfast with a view! Pictures below Followed by gym, spin class and checking out the new balcony room we've been offered Onto cocktails in the pool now!! Will get some nice pics of that We've chosen deck 16 back of the ship for our prime spot for sunbeds. We got them at 7am this morning (a sea day). There were still some available there at 7.30am Buts it prime spot next to stunning infinity pool and swim up Cocktail bar. Images to follow later today
  4. We changed our mind about hiking to the top of Mont Sage So we just went to Cane Garden Bay instead Its actually 12 US dollars per person each way. But you pay 24 US dollars at the start and get a wrist band for your journey back. They said the shuttles come back every hour on the hour but in reality they were pretty constant It's a 15 minutes journey up and down steep and windy roads Cane Garden Bay is itself beautiful. I guess 500 to 1,000 English sunbathers spoil it though!! Seemed like everybody chose to go here Halfway through the day I would have warned people off coming here from a cruise as the sunbeds are packed in My wife said "it makes it feel like Benidorm" 10 us dollars each per sunbed The bars and food from the bars and stalls on the beach pretty average The bay is beautiful though. And if you walk to the end past all the sunbeds that part is calm and pleasant and if you are happy using towels to lie on a beach it's nice there By then we had already paid for a sunbed in panic there would be none left the amount of Brits that kept arriving! We then found a rum distillery behind the part of the beach with no sunbeds. It's 400 years old and has been making rum from sugar cane the old fashioned way for all that time You could taste 5 shots of rum for 1 US dollars per person!!!! We paid an extra 4 us dollars for a short tour of the distillery before tasting the rums Our favourite rum was called "Panty Remover" Lol. That's what it's called. It was a sweet rum. It was a fun experience. Last night we watched a high tech theatre show called Sky's the Limit or similar to that in Headliners. The singer's and dancers are way superior to what we saw on Britannia on our staycation cruise a couple of years ago. Way superior. The theatre itself is the most high tech theatre I've ever seen. Big screens behind the stage and to the sides of the stage as well. 5 guys there just to sort the audio visuals and lighting and effects Real hi tech show. Probably a third of the songs were known songs and the rest appear to be specially written for the show? So it's hard to enjoy the songs you don't know as much Despite that great energy and very impressive The screens made it appear like you were in an aircraft terminal at the start of the show and in various cities and in an aeroplane itself other parts of the show It's taken theatre shows on cruise ships to another level. It was like being at Disneyworld or Universal Studios Heres an image of the theatre before the show started the photo doesn't do the effect justice tbh
  5. So sorry I only saw this question after we got back so I didn't check for you
  6. And if you eat at The Quays you can sit outside to dine with views like this Tortola looks great. It replaced Curacao on this cruise for some reason I can't remember? We will be off to explore soon. We have to take passports with us today We've heard there's a shuttle in port for 10US dollars each to Cane Garden Bay From there we will see if it's possible to do the Hike to the highest point on the island Wish us luck with that!!
  7. Breakfast at the Quays. Everything you need here. They have the normal pastries and croissants and fruits and cereals and smoothies and drinks etc as well
  8. This is my breakfast dessert lol (the fish and chip shop at The Quays does pancakes and waffles) You can see why I needed to sign up for the spin classes
  9. More images from Epicurian The meal came with virgin bloody Mary amuse bouche Andy sorbet pre dessert I had fillet of beef (rare) served perfectly and my wife had black cod with lobster tail main Chocolate jaffa cake and lemon meringue tart for dessert 24 HR slow cooked ox cheek and crab starters Service and ambience is great in there The bread basket in earlier post included Beetroot flavoured bread and salt and marmite flavoured butters
  10. Here's various images of food we have eaten at The Quays so far Note the healthy carvery lunch - I turned down roast potatoes, Yorkshire Pud and cauliflower cheese!!
  11. Last night's meal In Epicurean waa very good. The restaurant manager found us a space for 28th Feb as well now despite the restaurant being fully booked on the app. Always worth asking I guess Images of menu, view from table and bread basket below more to come from my wife's phone later
  12. This was an image of sevenseas or silverseas ship (can't remembers which ) on first night in Barbados It looks like the same size of one of our lifeboats on here! Lol
  13. My wife just had to climb from the 5th floor to 17th floor for Epicurean in high heels!! Lol Cocktails first in Crows Nest
  14. There's all things for everyone. Some you guys won't like. As I walked past the dome this afternoon the roof was open (it was closed earlier for some reason) and they were all playing bingo!! In the sun at 2.30pm. But the fact is I had to walk past there to know it was even happening. Some people like that kind of thing. Plenty of people enjoying it. Each to their own. Ps Ive enjoyed Bingo in the past in many places and many times. But not sure 2.30pm outside in the Caribbean is the time to be playing Bingo?? Lol But plenty were enjoying it.
  15. Thought I ought to copy a couple of post's I put in a sunset thread about Arvia into this thread: so it's all in one place Im sat in a chair that folds back so almost a sun bed on Arvia right now!!! In prime spot at the back of the ship overlooking a lovely infinity pool My wife is on a sun bed nearby We had 2 chairs together til she found a sunbed come available A poster above is correct Plenty of sunbeds and sunchairs all over the ship But prime spots in the sun all day next to infinity pools - you need to be up early to get There's numerous prime spots as well Depends how much you want prime spot or how much you just want a sunbed that won't be in the sun all day - down the sides of the ship I think same would apply at any hotel or on any ship - prime spots are competitive! It's a sea day today It's glorious weather albeit breezy We've enjoyed approaching 10 cruises now Arvia is stunning. Best ship we've ever been on.
  16. It's 5pm ish here now Ten minutes ago I just squeezed in a sneaky hot dog, onion and fries before Epicurean at 6pm!! I will call it Canapes before the meal. My wife doesn't know!!! Only on a Cruise Ship!! It's hard to walk past the multiple food options without stopping However, I burnt 450 calories on the spin class this morning (I've signed up for 9 more classes) total cost 65 US dollars And I'm on 11,500 steps so far today and counting My wife and I have made a pact not to use a lift all holiday so that's adding a lot of steps. Especially as we are on deck 5 but doing most of our sunbathing and walking outside on deck 17 and 18 The gym is on deck 5 or 6 as well and I'm in there twice a day to burn calories for more cocktails and food There's loads of people walking the promenade decks and using the gyms. The world has changed and fitness is a big part or many people's lives now. Cruises are a great place to keep fit and active. Despite the extra calories! I'm not doing anything like the healthy eating guy suggested however he made it clear we should only start any changes AFTER our cruise Back home I'm healthy and very active. But back home I just have cheat days once or twice a week Not 14 days in a row!!! At 3pm I went to an art talk about fakes and art heists. The art director for Whitewall gallery hosted the talk. She was very good. Very interesting and entertaining. My wife stayed sunbathing. The gallery of art on here is very impressive but I have contacts at home where I can buy art at trade prices. Including their frames! When I went back to the decks at 4pm there were plenty of sunsets available everywhere including the prime spots So everyone seems to have found other things to do relatively early considering the weather is still great The Art Talk was in The Limelight Club. The Limelight Club on Arvia is at least double if not treble the size of the one on Britannia. Yesterday p.m. as we were walking past I could hear Kevin Simm was doing a sound check and singing in there so we sneaked in (pretending we wanted to look at the room) and listened to him for a couple of minutes. He can sing for sure. But my wife said I dont want to go there just to listen to a singer and I kind of agree Think we will book the drag act instead. Mary Mac. I've watched a few YouTube chips of Mary and she looks fun. And different!
  17. Here's some useful photos of today's entertainment guide with opening hours etc Today I've done a spin class early on and been to a talk about eating healthily Meanwhile in the first day and a half I've eaten fish and chips, Eton mess, roast lamb carvery, lemon tart x 2, chocolate cake x 3, chicken Katsu curry, 5 or 6 salady type starters. 2 Strawberry daiquiri and 1 motion (we had an early night last night!) The healthy eating bit is for when I get home!!! Spin class and walking loads is to keep the damage from the food and drink to the minimum!! Walked 11,000 steps yesterday been 4pm and 8.30pm just looking at everywhere on board!!! Epicurean tonight booked for 6pm We didn't see them last night but the Mix band in headliners were supposed to be great And a couple we know had steak and prawns on a black rock plate where you cook your own in The Beach House and said it was great We watched a band called Phoenix for a few songs in the Sky Dome last night alongside cocktails. They were good. Wanted to be outside on our first night in the Caribbean for a few years The Quays is really good for fish and chips and carvery and Asian fusion food as an alternative to the buffet for breakfast, lunch and dinner
  18. But Boeing just wanted to keep flying the planes without those tests. That's why I no longer approve of Boeing albeit many of the decision makers were forced to resign their jobs. Disgraceful what they did
  19. There's all things for everyone. Some you guys won't like. As I walked past the dome ten minutes ago the roof was open and they were playing bingo!! In the sun at 2.30pm. Another way to get people to use the Retreat I guess. But the fact is I had to walk past there to know it was even happening. Some people like that kind of thing. Plenty of people enjoying it. Each to their own.
  20. Breaking news - got half the vat done before laptop ran out of charge!! Happy with that. WIll finish gradually Dreamliner from Birmingham. The plane was called Pixie Dust. Despite the fact I don't like Boeing (after their disgraceful Max 737 cover ups) I absolutely love flying on their dreamliner 787 planes. The flight was good. Landed 2.50pm 30 mins waiting to leave plane whilst coaches arrived 30 mins waiting for coach to leave airport 20 mins on coach 15 mins getting through P and O admin and procedure Nobody asked about a Barbados customer immigration form we were told we needed and filled in online At no stage anywhere have we been asked to prove any insurance Nobody asked anywhere about Covid pass or jabs So far at least Arvia is a truly stunning ship. So many options to sit, eat or drink I pay a lot of money to be a member at Hoar Cross Hall The gym and equipment on Arvia blows away anything I've ever seen or used. Stunning gym. Every walking, jogging, cycling, rowing machine etc etc has a large screen and I've just done a cycle tour through Rome at night time on a cycle machine No charge for using these state of the art machines I've got loads more to tell you guys about Anyone who's never cruised before cannot fail to love this ship. Anyone who's got their own pet loves on a ship will be able to find thing's they prefer elsewhere But trust me this ship and this cruise is incredible value for money for the options you get We are loving every second. Lots more info to come and photos. Really surprised to see a real mix of age groups on board. Plenty of young people. I was expecting we might be the youngest at mid 50s
  21. I agree but there's plenty of best spaces here To compete for!! Lol Several at front and back of the ship I think where we are is better than The Retreat tbf. Stunning infinity pool. I'm going for a dip soon
