But our favourite is simply to do the islands on our own. Spend a few days on each and then ferry to another. We did this last year. This year we are planning the same again as well as hopefully score a last minute Med cruise.
That sounds very interesting too. Good thing I have a long time to plan...looks like I want to do a lot of research.

Can anyone tell me what the weather and crowds are like in November? Our 25th anniversary is Nov. 2019 and we would love to do a Europe vacation to celebrate. We are willing to do it in Sept or Oct. if that works better, but ideally would like to do it during our actual anniversary. We are planning 3 weeks in total (with some of it in Switzerland visiting family), which could be before or after the cruise. Doing my research now so I know what to book when those dates open up.

If you are all on the same dining, and all on individual (not group) bookings, you should be able to link them.
I have tried several times and while the screen comes up and allows me to input the info, once I click save it does to a blank screen and never saves it. I guess I'll have to call and ask.
-
You only need to "link" your bookings if you have traditional seating at dinner. If you have MTD, they will seat you all together, if you show up together!
What about with Dynamic Dining? Our cruise isn't till Nov and I can't reserve dining times yet, but once I can, how can I put all 4 of us together if it won't let me link our reservations?
-
Sigh....not sure if this is going to work anyway. I was looking at Harmony, but there are no pullman bed rooms when you do 4 people, it's all sofa bed (which is an uncomfortable double at best). The pullmans from the ceiling are great, but the sofa bed just doesn't work. Guess I'll have to look at a different cruise.
-
You should also be able to add the 4th person at a later date, at the same rate you originally booked. We just did this.
Thank you for the info. I think I'd rather book for the 4 up front, my worry would be that they would put us in a room designed for 3 people and then we couldn't add the 4th. But so happy to hear that I have this option.
-
We are looking at booking a family cruise for 4 people in one room. 3 of us are good for the date we want to go, but we are not certain about the 4th. Are you able to change a reservation from 4 people to 3? or would it be considered a cancel and re-book?
-
We were able to book Dining for Nov., but not Entertainment. Keep trying. There is no set time to book. It is hit and miss.
Thank you. Will do. I am also having trouble linking our reservation with the couple we are going with. It asks me if I want to save, I click yes, then it goes to a blank screen and it doesn't actually link them..........sigh........

We just booked a Dec. 9th cruise. There was no choice for dining as it only allowed Dynamic Dining Choice to be selected (not sure if there is classic anymore or just not on this cruise). My question is, when can I book where we eat? It doesn't allow me to do it now, same with entertainment.
Thanks in advance.

A tour of the island can still work if it's raining but not pouring.
-
Well this sucks....I always use courtesy holds because if I find a good deal on something, it gives my husband an I a day to see if we can get the time off work. It's worked out for a number of times, but now it looks like we'd only be able to use it for non-Caribbean cruises. :-(

Alaska is scenery. :)
Based only on your post at face value- with glaciers, then the "only" choice is to do a one way cruise with 2 glacier days, then adding in a Prince William Sound boat tour out of Whittier. Finally stacking the deck with more glacier tours with fly ins out of Juneau and/or Skagway and Seward. Add on mainland glacier trekking of Matanuska, Harding Icefield. etc etc etc
But, I will again suggest you find out more about Alaska with reference to post 2, because there is no "best" cruise.
so, just to clarify, am I to understand that none of the round trip itinerary's see glaciers? :(
If that is the case, then either we'd have to save enough to do a 2 week cruise, north and south....or else I guess we'll be looking at waiting on the alaska cruise and not combining it with out visit west.

Based on the limited information you have given us about your interests, disinterests, age, physical ability, budget, what you are looking for in a cruise and a thousand other things - there is no way that anyone can give you an intelligent answer to your question. Come back with specific questions and we would all be happy to try to help you.
DON
Interests....seeing Alaska....lol
(we figure we will likely be back sometime in the future, so at this point, we just want to be able to see nature at it's finest)
Disinterest......being bored!
Age, we are both 43, but are planning for next year.
Physical ability, we can get around and do anything, we are relatively active and enjoy hiking etc.
Budget....I have no idea...lets just say unlimited....not that it is, but it will be a matter of saving for longer if need be.
Up until now we have only cruised Royal, NCL and Celebrity, so that is all we know. We enjoyed all those ships, but are open to whatever.
Just looking for the best itinerary for an all around trip. If I had to get specific on what we'd like to see (our dream experiences) would be a glacier calving, whales of somekind....and beautiful scenery.
Like I said we will likely return in the future, so we honestly aren't that specific with what we want to see.

- I recommend visiting your Vancouver friends first.... go to the island after the cruise. Sometimes there's a congestion delay (weekends? holidays?) that can have you missing your cruise.
- Consider riding the ferries Monday to Thursday.... traffic is lighter and there's a discount.
- Butchart gardens have summer fireworks on Saturdays
- Have you considered an Island circle tour/drive? Are you friends all around the Victoria area? There's a few ferries loops where you can go Powell River to Courtenay too...

Late May/June has the best Alaskan weather. Different cruise lines depart for Alaska on different days of the week.
No, our friends live in Campbell River

We are looking to do a round trip from Vancouver because we have friends on Vancouver Island that we also plan to visit, and friends in Vancouver itself so figure we will see one couple before and one after. Looking for suggestions on the ships (don't matter what line) with the best round trip itinerary??? Not sure if it matters but would likely be late May or June
Thanks in advance

Thanks to everyone so far....sounds like Bonaire will be an absolute must for a snorkeling destination.

I prefer the less developed ports which offer more eco-tourism types of experiences. My favorites include:
- Dominica (definitely recommend Bumpiing Tours there)
- St. John (via ferry from St. Thomas - it's 75% protected park land)
- St. Kitts (breath-taking vistas along with interesting history)
We've been to St. Kitts once and I totally agree. We did an island tour with a beach stop on the end near Nevis.

Looking to do a Southern itinerary....but there are so many different choices out there. Just looking for others favourite ports of call and why? Thanks in advance.

The new terminal looks AMAZING....so long buses to and from the old terminal.

Love all your reports....but am most excited for this one to get a sneak peek. We were scheduled for a Dec. 11 nt on Quantum but unfortunately had to cancel due to a scheduling conflict. So will be living vicariously through you.

Some photos we took on July 27th from Celebrity Summit

Oh my. There's nothing better than waking up and stepping outside to take in the sunrise or just breathe the sea air. You will have to order room service and have breakfast on your balcony too.
YES!!! Didn't think of that....but we will have to do that for sure!

Hi There, we are sailing 8/10, Summit, two seperate rooms were booked for a "veranda guarantee". Both rooms received the "next step upgrade" to lowest level Concierge. Sounds like what you got, a one step up assignment. Our room was assigned within 3 days and parents assigned within 48 hours I believe.
Where is your cabin positioned on the ship? Both of our cabins are in the back, Deck 7 and Deck 8. We are both thrilled. I crossed my fingers and toes for a mid or back cabin.
ENJOY your cruise. Its our first time on Summit, 2nd on Celebrity, and we are very excited.
We are also Deck 7 right near the aft elevators/stairs which is great. We have never cruised Celebrity and are super excited to see how it compares to Royal.

Woohoo!!! That was worth waiting for!!!!

I think so, and I'm still in shock...I've never had anything beyond an interior, and only booked an OV because it was cheaper than an interior...even more excited about this cruise now
4 in a room

Looking at booking 4 to a room on Harmony, and to me it looks like they are all sofa beds. It doesn't say pullmans at all. So, does that mean they would expect 2 people to share a sofa bed? or will they bring in a cot of somekind for the 4th person.
