  1. The Gatwick people leave the ship today at noon, they are the last off, it's currently 7 am and we have yet to dock, so I would say no chance. The trip from the ship is an all day one, think it goes at 9 am.
  2. Itinery has been reversed this coming week as well. Freeport first, Charleston last, do gain a few more hours in NY. It's because the gulf stream is very strong and we would be battling against it if Freeport was last, this way we go with it. Saw the rocket launch from the ship last Sunday! An unexpected extra! had to do immigration again at key West as we had been out of the country but was done on ship quite quick, although I think there are only about 1100 passengers on. Maybe more coming today as it is bank holiday?
  3. So will they still be in NY on the advertised days/times? There will be a lot of people who have booked things independently who will be cross if they can't move them.
  4. I am from UK on a UK cruise line, so the main attraction of the cruise was the overnight in NYC. It is actually a Wednesday/Thursday that we are there, so some matinees are available, but I was trying to plan my visit to make the best use of my time in the city.
  5. With the move to more family orientated ships, surely the provision of these bags should be mandatory. It would be possible to have more than one family member per cabin needing them.
  6. We are in port overnight. Thanks for all the replies and tips, I have downloaded the uber app and now feel confident enough that I will get a taxi of some sort. 🙂
  7. If the bags aren't in sight though you would be tempted to flush them and that leads to other problems. Should always be supplied.
  8. Thanks both, I thought that would be the case! Would it be difficult to get a cab from times square? Surely there is a lot of people who want cabs at the same time? Might have to do a matinee instead 😁
  9. I am overnight in NY and am looking at shows, would it be safe to walk from times square area to Manhattan terminal at night as a single woman? I know there is a bus route but cannot work out where the pedestrian entrance is. Thanks
  10. Flew into Dubrovnik last august, after collecting luggage the passengers went on the coach and the luggage went in a van! At Dubrovnik port, all passengers got off coach, went through immigration again, back on coach for about one minute, then off again to check in. I think luggage was bonded on way home, can't remember, but do remember the queue of about 10/12 coaches all from the ship to do the port immigration thing again. You literally walk through a small building, get passport stamped, and back on bus. Dubrovnik airport coming home had the longest queue for security that I had ever seen, hopefully just last year's problem. Airport was rammed.
  11. Have also had that email today from tui but had already seen it in the small print when booking (I'm a bit nerdy like that) seems a faff but their country, their rules.
  12. The space centre is well worth going to, Atlantis is stunning. But £108 seems a lot.
  13. I had checked previously on the Manhattan cruise terminal website and marella are scheduled to dock there (except for one that uses brooklyn). I have just looked at cruise mapper, and it lists both Manhattan & Liberty sites in one lump. The picture used is Manhattan terminal, you can see intrepid on the image which is next to the dock. If you read the port info, RCI use liberty, most others use Manhattan, and Tui is listed as using manhattan.
  14. Cruised from Dubrovnik last month. It is not a test to fly, it's a test to board (check in) on the boat.
  15. I was in 5008 and that was a porthole, either this one or 5010 was the first to have a porthole - all the numbers below this were porthole (ie moving towards the pointy end!). Same on opposite side. It was OK but not as good as a window. The nearer you get to the front, the more the portholes are inset - the person in 5000 had to have the light on all the time as if he was in an inside.
  16. Did both. San Marino is about 1.5 hour drive, lovely place, not for people with walking difficulties as steep in places. There was a shuttle to Ravenna from the ship, think it was £12,for 3 hours in town. Or you could get to the beach but think that was a water taxi thing, it's literally next to the ships berth but not sure you can walk to it! Lubi - about 1.5 hour drive away, nice views on way. Nice place, quite compact. We didn't get to do lake bled as there had been an accident which closed the road, so they left us for longer in lubi. Had 50% refund, which is fair. Plenty of places to eat. Spotlessly clean. Friendly. The original 2/3 hours would have been enough, all day was a bit overkill!
  17. Just back yesterday from explorer 2 and the staff are still masked, but as said above, they do drop them to have one on one chats etc. My cabin steward said they have been dropped on discovery 1 a nd she was hoping that would happen across the fleet.
  18. I was booked in the repositioning cruise from Dubai to Aqaba just as the pandemic hit. Also had one booked for Hong Kong/Singapore. So will be interested what these itineraries are.
  19. In March I think it was £49 for the week. Connection was not bad for browsing (deck 5). Only one device at a time, so log out of phone to use on tablet etc.
