  1. Have you looked at Hotel Traghetto in Civitavecchia?  It's a few minutes walk from the hotel to the port gate with your luggage.  From there,  you catch a large free bus to your ships location.   Its a five minute walk to shops and cafes.  Giuseppe is the manger and speaks very good English.  The hotel offers a very nice complemtary breakfast that also includes cappuccino.

We've been on several NCL cruises that included stops in Bar Harbor.  We take the free bus service to Acadia National Park.  (L L Bean helps pay for it, to help cut down on private car emissions in the park.) It's a short walk from the tender pier.  There is a national park admission charge, but if you already have a national park membership card, then the bus is truly free.  Go online to find their schedule and route maps.  Buses leave frequently, and cover most areas of the park.  You just hop off when you wish, then get another bus when it comes along.  With a little research on the park, you'll know which attractions you'll want to stop for.

Jim and I get off at the entrance to the historic Jordan Pond House, the only restaurant in Acadia.  It's full of tourists (like us!), but we love having lunch there.  (Try the lobster bisque and blueberry popovers.)   Again, just go to their web site to view menus, then call direct to book lunch.  They are popular, and fill up fast!  Before or after lunch, hike along some of the well-marked trails, then grab a national park bus back to Bar Harbor.  You'll still have time to explore the town before your ship leaves.

Thanks for the information for the free bus to Acadia National Park.  I just looked it up.. Here's the link.......http://exploreacadia.com/

Island Explorer summer schedules are in effect from June 23 through August 26, 2019. Fall service continues through Columbus Day (October 14, 2019). Bus service on Schoodic peninsula begins in late May.

We are planning to fly in the day before and head right to Civitavecchia since we have been to Rome before.  I am looking for a hotel close to the terminal  and a  restaurant for dinner the night before our cruise leaves.  Thanks

    Ahoy ctnurse

We stayed at Hotel Traghetto in Civitavecchia .   The entrance to the port is a few minutes walk from the hotel.  Once you walk through the gates, you will be directly to a large greyhound like bus (free) that will take you to the ship.   The oven brick oven Pizza place is next door.  All the locals say its the best pizza in town.  They weigh the oblong sized pizza.

Hotel Traghetto can arranged pick up from the airport with a private car at your cost.

You can also walk down the street for some outdoor cafes and shops..

The above link is to the tour that you asked about..

We toured from the Port of Naples, last October with Italytours.eu for the Pompeii,  Sorrento, and Positano tour that also included the Amalfi coast.   We had a driver and a guide for 14 people in a small van.   We cannot say enough about Italytours.eu,  their itinerary,  guide, and their driver.  We also stopped for photo ops at different overlook sites.   Oh my gosh!   It was worth every Euro paid.

We liked italytours so much, that we are booked again this May....

May we suggest the Pompeii, Sorrento,  & Positano tour that includes the Amalfi Coast with  https://italytours.eu/  from the Port of Naples...

We took this tour in October, 2018....   Oh my gosh!  We cannot say enough about the company, the itinerary,  the driver and the guide.

We toured with about 12-16 persons in a small bus van.  We had a driver and a guide.  They met us at the ships terminal holding up their signs  where all the other guides  were picking up cruisers.   The guide spoke Italian and very The good English.  The mentioned tour also included a separate guide who met us at the Pompeii entrance gate.    We stopped at several photo op points for pictures also.  The only time that we did not have the guide with us, was when he dropped us off in Sorrento.    We agreed on a meeting time and place for returning to the van.  We were right in the town's pedestrian street with shops and eateries.  We choose a small cafe outdoor cafe and enjoyed the food and watched the world go by.....     Many of the cafes have outdoor blackboards with their specials.  We always try one of the local beers.

Take a look at this tour at    https://italytours.eu/naples-tours-napplessorrentoamalfi/pompeii-sorrento-positano/

The cost  of the tour was 69 Euros, and it was worth every Euro and more....   It was an opportunity of a lifetime for us, and we are glad we did the tour.  We like Italytours so much that we are booked again in May.

  7. RE: Venice future visit

Congratulation on your new adventure in life...

You may want to consider the Vision of the Seas that sails from Barcelona.  Its a 12 nights Mediterranean sailing.  The ship is docked in Venice for two days.    Italy is our favorite and deserves more time to enjoy.....

  8. I'm sorry that somehow I only posted part of what I was sent by Royal Caribbean. I thought I had copied the whole part, but somehow I messed it up. I am going to try again:

The gratuities for the dining room are divided among the entire dining services team including those that work in the Windjammer.

Additionally, all funds received for gratuities are disbursed to the employees. We do not use it for any administrative purpose or incentive for the crew.

Please see the breakdown for the gratuities collected below on a per day basis.

    Stateroom Attendant: $3.55 Previously $3.45

    Dining Room: $6.25 Previously $6.10

Other Hotel Services: $4.70 Previously $3.95

Total Standard Staterooms: $14.50 Previously $13.50

    Stateroom Attendant: $6.20 Previously $6.10

    Dining Room: $6.25 Previously $6.10

Other Hotel Services: $5.05 Previously $5.05

Total for Suites: $17.50 Previously $16.50

Do these rates suggested mean per person per day of cruising? Thanks for the update..

  9. I hope they let people in earlier. Just at terminal 6 last week and there is no room if they don’t board until 1:30 and many show up early. Good luck! Maybe you’ll get lucky and they will move back down to terminal 3. If it’s too crazy when you get there drop bags then take an Uber or walk down to channelside or Ybor. Would be calmer.

    Ahoy Mateys..

Nivek82 has a good idea.... Drop off your luggage and walk to channelside or take the tram to Ybor City....

  10. They gave us a accessible room which has a little more room, which we are not in need of one, but oh well, which is good, plus it's mid ship

    Ahoy Jeanneful

We just did the same thing. We just added on another Oasis sailing at the last minute so we could do a B2B. We have a balcony for the first leg, but had to go to an inside guarantee to stay within a budget but still be able to do a back to back. Our room was assigned the next day to an Accessible cabin by the mid elevators on deck 3.

No matter which cabin you are in, you still get to enjoy the same cruising amenities throughout the ship.

We have stayed on deck 2 or 3 before. It was very quiet. It turned out to be very convenient to get to other areas...

We like the Liberty, and I am sure you will too.....

    D&B

  11. At the Tampa port they, also, have provided a shuttle between Rhapsody and Brilliance. So I suggest just checking with Guest Services when you get on the ship.

The Port of Tampa does provide a nice Greyhound like bus for the back to back cruisers in the same port between the Brilliance and the Rhapsody. The Florida Aquarium separates terminal 3 and terminal 2. You do need to pick up your luggage from the first sailing, and walk it to the transfer bus going to the other ship. We used to walk from one terminal to the other or hire a porter to cart our luggage to the other terminal...

Thank You Royal Caribbean for providing this service....

  12. Ahoy Cruising Mateys..

We sailed the Brilliance of the Seas in February. They were offering food in the pub on sea days. One day they had Irish Stew in a bread bowl along with small chip bags and nuts. The other sea day they had Shepherds pie. There were no additional cost for the eats..

We made sure that we mentioned how we enjoyed the eats in the pubs on our survey, as this is not a usual venue on other ships that we know of.
