I am beginning to realize that our Royal Caribbean cruise days point woes occur with many cruisers.........

Last October, the Royal Caribbean computer system combined my husbands and I sailing points. We each have our own Crown & Anchor #. We did not know that this happen until I tried to sign into my account. This action temporary pushed us in the Pinnacle status since the points had doubled......

The computer system formed one account using my Crown & Anchor number but with my husbands name. Now we have an account with a name and a birth date that do not match in their database.....This error appears to be an easy fix, right?

The Crown and Anchor dept could not retrieve my husbands lost number.. Their solution was to assigned my number to him, and they gave me a new Crown & Anchor number....

Ah, I thought that was the end of it, but I was far from being correct.

We have sailed several cruises since this merge of the accounts and their supposedly fix of that merge. We have encountered nothing but headaches each time we sail due to the improper postings of cruises and points. The computer would place the just sailed cruise on my husbands account but not my account. Then, the computer would take away some points on both accounts instead of adding points for the just sailed cruise....

Does this sound familiar to other cruise critic readers here?

After each cruise, the same errors occurred, and a phone call is made to Crown & Anchor. The rep tries to fix the problem after a few minor changes, but the issue ends up going to the resolutions dept each time. It's not an easy fix, so we have to wait for the corrections each time... We are told that a rep needs to add up all our cruises again to see where the problem lies.

The dept eventually manually adjusts the points to the correct total.

In losing points instead of gaining them after each sailing, we have had to send them proof of such points at times through previous emails we received from Royal that showed our points...

Needless to say, my husband and I are both on our fourth Crown & Anchor number. We were told that our old numbers had corrupt files.

Their computer issues explanations vary each time you call. The reps try to explain what may have happen, but their answers are becoming like a script.

Other thoughts: Your Crown & Anchor accounts are cross referenced with your Captains Club number if you sail on Celebrity... Oh my gosh! The same mess is going on there too!.... I was told by Celebrity that we have had four different Captain Club numbers there. We did not know that........They are showing three of the numbers as inactive with only one being active...

    Is this clear as mud?........

We suggest that you keep proof of your sailings and check the number of cruises and the total points. We keep our setsail key cards as proof.

Is anyone else having these problems? If so, what has been your experience?

  2. I am sailing on the Navigator on March 22. I received an email that the Set Sail Pass is complete. I have been trying to print it for 6 days and I always get "we cannot access your account" or something similar.

The quick question: Do I really need to print the Set Sail Pass before I get to the ship? In other words, do I need to panic for the next 4 weeks?

I called the tech support number. They were able to unlock my account, but when I go t to the point to print, I got the error message.

    Thanks much!

Sorry to hear about your setsail printing issue.

I would call back again. You may get someone else that will have different ideas as to how to solve your issue.

We are able to print our set sail paper, but at times it does not list the Crown and Anchor tier level on it.

We also have trouble doing the online check in. It won't let us save our credit card payment or continue thus saying our check in is incomplete. We end up having to call Royal to manually put in the data for us.

I think that other cruisers are having different issues with the Royal Caribbean site.

I would not stress over not completing the online check in.

It will just take a little bit longer to check you in...

In the mean time, I would print out your luggage tags. There should be a separate area with a button to click to print them.

    Good luck..

  3. If the issue was that the "SAVE" button was greyed out - I had same problem. The fix was to use the "Search for another passenger" link as if you planning to pay for someone else. Just put your name/reservation in the search field and hit search. It will give an error (because it is you) but then the "Save" button will be available and you can complete the credit card info saving.

    Ahoy billsr...

I have been having trouble saving credit card information also for our last two sailings in Dec & Jan. Each time I had to call Royal for assistance. Each time I would reach someone in Guatemala..... They tried to tell me it was my computer that was causing the problems. I did try different computers for the online check in, but I still had the same issues..

Thank You Sunny AZ girl, you are not alone in this latest problem with Royal Caribbean online checkin payment section.

Royals web site has been overly quirky for several months now, more so than the usual quirkiness.

  4. Ahoy Merion Mom

We just sailed the Enchantment the last week of August in a inside cabin 4763.

We did not have a refrigerator. Sydney our cabin steward brought us extra ice buckets for our soda, milk cartons and water.

Our friends requested a refrigerator on deck 4, and they delivered it right away.

The Enchantment rates look good again for an inside cabin with $119 for Sept 15th and $139 for Sept 22nd sailing. Both dates are for their four days cruise.

  5. To Handbellplayer ....

Bringing your set sail card from the first week is a good suggestion for your second sailing. Like someone already mentioned, the loyal ambassador should be able to look at what your last recorded points where before these sailings.

The loyal ambassador on the first sailing could email the loyal ambassador on the second sailing to let them know of your new status...

You most likely will not receive an updated Diamond status on your second sailing, so do visit the loyal ambassador for the Diamond sticker to put on your set sail card. Guest services should be able to update your new diamond amenities on your card too...

Congratulations on your upcoming Diamond status... We were once in your situation, and it was a nice feeling to have that sticker on our card..

Enjoy the nightly happy hour and hors d'oeuvres....:)

  6. Thanks all for your answers. It appears the 50% 2nd passenger is marketing smoke and mirrors. Haven't found any terrific cruise price bargains for cruises we've checked out. Noticed the website shows the average price of the two fares. Once a cabin is chosen, and looking at the breakdown of prices, found the original room price was hiked to accommodate an average of the each passenger per cabin at about the same rate as it would have been without the promo. Oh, well...

    Ahoy Matey Denamo

I always check the rates via the RCCL website just before booking with the Loyal Ambassador on the ship.

We booked a cruise at the buy one, get one 50% off for the second person.

It turned out to be the same bottom line as if I booked online instead of the ship. Yep, the promo had a higher per person rate.

    Do your homework!

  7. Giovanni's

We sailed the Brilliance of the Seas on Nov 16, 2013.

It was her first sailing from Tampa.

We were offered a meal at Giovanni's for 50% off on the first night. We were also told that we could use our buy one, get one coupon at Chops on another night of our choosing.

There were no flyers indicating the special. We found out when we tried to make reservations at Chops. The manager let us know the specials.

We loved Giovanni's for the food and the service. We will be returning in another week, and we are very happy with the change from Portofino's to Giovanni's......

  8. We decorate our cabin door for Xmas, but only with dollar store items.

We also always get a santa hat and a small tree decoration for our cabin steward that includes their cash tip......

    Occasionally, Xmas decor disappears.

We leave our xmas decor behind so that the staff can decorate their own cabins.

The Xmas decor that you find for dishwashers are great as their are all magnet and work perfectly for the cabin door.

The local drug stores also have Xmas decor that clings to your windows or balcony sliding doors.... Easy to pack and lightweight for those flying.

  9. Yep, the upgrade fairy appears to have tied one on. :D

I'll be sailing this Monday on the Enchantment. I originally booked a JS.

As time went on the prices dropped and the GS's were going for less than I paid for the JS. A simple phone call to RCI moved me into a GS. Happy so far.

Today I check my cruises and I've been upgraded to an OS. The pricing has changed and they're showing an outstanding balance of -$120.00

So not only an upgrade to an OS but getting money back on top of it.

If anyone is sailing on the Enchantment this Monday check your cruise before the upgrade fairy sobers up. :D

    Ahoy Florida Scorpion

Congratulations on your upgrade! It's nice to hear that the fairy is still around and that she is enjoying herself it seems!

Enjoy your week, and thanks for the heads up!

There are two nice hotels right on Cocoa Beach.

Best Western Ocean Beach Hotel and Suites or

Days Inn Cocoa Beach Port Canaveral.

These two hotels are next to each other. There are both on the list that someone provided in the link earlier.

The hotels are next door to the Cocoa Beach pier which I think two thirty year olds would really enjoy. The pier has several bar/eateries with live music.

If the girls are flying into Orlando Airport, be aware that the hotel and the port are about 51 miles east of there.

The Freedom of the Seas is our favorite ship as well as the port itself.

Good luck, and let the posters here know what you finally decided on.

  11. has anyone had soft drinks in cans confiscated and not returned?

    Ahoy Dog

We always bring a six or twelve pack of soda in our carryon luggage.

Our soda has never been taken away.

We sail out of Port of Tampa, Port Canaveral, and Port Everglades (Ft Lauderdale).

Royal Caribbean also allows you to take two bottle of wine in your carry on also.

    Wishing you a good cruise...

    Dorothy

  12. And if you're really geeky like I am, you will bring a clock that has an external temperature sensor, so you will know how warm or cool it is outside, even in the middle of the night. :p Just don't forget to pack it before you leave the ship at the end of the cruise.

We use an LLBEAN travel clock that also has a temp reading as well as an alarm with a night light. It folds flat for storage.

  13. Ditto everything that you said (except the Gr. Grandmother)! Rahul and Willie are top notch --as was Amit (will miss him)-- and probably the example we hold all others to.

    Ahoy truffles2...

Do you know where Amit is going?

If Rahul is going to the Cl in a few weeks, who will be in the Diamond Lounge? I know that Willie left for vacation not long ago.
