  1. My family of 8 are on board Freedom of the Seas. We were through security, check-in and pictures in less than 45 minutes. Very smooth. My only request would be let my family stay together with me in the Platinum line. My parents are first time RCCL cruisers, daughter is gold and I am platinum. We chose to stay together in general line. Still an efficient check in. Nice job RCCL.

The staff at Port Canaveral are usually very accommodating in keeping the family together especially in the terminal. You can't check in unless you are together.... Not sure what happen here....

We have checked in with Crown & Anchor members of different status together. We just told them that we are together... no problem... Why break up a family?

  2.

The best Port Canaveral hotel is the Residence Inn in Cape Canaveral.

Park and Cruise: Save $15/day parking, includes buffet breakfast daily, wired high-speed Internet, wireless Internet, 2 Roundtrip Shuttle to Port passes, self parking,

The Residence Inn also offers the best complimentary hot breakfast in the area.

We live an hour from the port. We use the cruise package from the local hotels in Cape Canaveral/Cocoa Beach area when we are meeting friends.

If we are sailing alone, we use the parkportcanveral. The web site has an excellent birds eye view of their parking lot. We have used them several times. They are right across the street from the Raddison hotel.

They have ample employees who assist you in letting you know what you need to do before getting on the shuttle. They are very organized, and efficient. The shuttle driver and another staff member will give you tips while riding over to the port. They will let you know where to meet them after the cruise.

We highly recommend ParkPortCanaveral to all cruisers interested in a place to park while on a cruise.

  3. Just wanted to let anyone who is looking for a way to get from the Seattle airport to the Pier, that Seattle Yellow Limo company was a great way to go. Yonas from that company kept in touch with me as soon as we landed and picked us up in a Suburban large enough to hold our luggage and us four adults. He provided us with water in the car and took us directly to pier 91 for $60 each way. The day we were going back home, again he was in touch with me via text and arrived in a timely manner and got us back to the airport. You probably could have easily fit one or two more people in his car.

I think they are kind of a new company, they do an excellent and it was much less expensive then if we have taken the ships transfers.

    Ahoy Matey

We are looking for transportation options from the Seattle airport to pier 91 for our Alaskan cruise. Thanks for the heads up...

  4.

We sailed the Brilliance of the Seas on the crossing from Tampa to Barcelona this past April.

The Next Cruise department offered a chance for your name to be put in a drawing for $300 if you booked a cruise on the first three days of the cruise.

You were given a double ticket, one for you and one for the clear jar.

The winner was announced on the morning show with the Cruise Director and staff. We won the drawing for $300 on board credit. They also called our cabin and left a message.

The money went straight to our favorite cruise staff members! You can go to Guest Services and fill out a form and assign any staff name and amount that you wish to give.

  5.

We last toured with Dyea Dave about eight years ago. We boarded a small van which at the time was driven by his sister. We stayed on the bus for a round trip, while others took the train back to Skagway

    .

There was a couple that was running late for the tour, so he drop the others in town at a small museum. While we were waiting for the missing couple, we viewed a small movie about the area. They then picked us back up, and we started the actual tour.

We liked the tour so much, that we are taking his tour again in September.

You do not pay until the end of the tour.

    We highly recommend this tour.

Do read the reviews on tripadvisor.

  6. SO TIRED of Royal screwing up! We are Pinnacle, and usually very forgiving. However, they chartered/canceled THREE Brilliance sailings on us for next Jan/Feb. Now they cancel Rhapsody on us (FOURTH cancellation next year for us). They need to STOP releasing cruises to the public if they are not certain about operating them! Now, I have a 2018 cruise showing "sold out." No possible way!!!!!

    Peter

    Ahoy RoyalDiamond

Do you mind sharing the Brilliance dates that were chartered/cancelled for the month of Jan & Feb, 2017...

    Thank You

  7. About how long does it take the T3 PORTBUS to go from the Quai Assodat Terminals where NCL docks to the Columbus Monument? I assume that there are several buses running at different intervals?

According to google maps, its 4.4 km (2.73 miles) and a 10 minute ride for the T3 Portbus from the terminal to the Columbus Monument.

    Timetable for the T3 PORTBUS

The cruise port shuttle bus co-ordinates its schedule and frequency depending on the arrival and departures of the cruises. Therefore the cruise shuttle bus service is not a regular scheduled bus service but one that only runs based on demand.

There is a cruise port shuttle bus service called the T3 PORTBUS service (Colloquially known as the "Blue Bus") that runs in a circular repeating route from the Christopher Columbus monument to all cruise disembarking points. The Columbus monument is a 1 minute walk to the foot of the famous La Rambla Boulevard.

    Tickets

Tickets for the cruise shuttle bus can only be purchased on the bus. Tickets cannot be purchased in advance. The driver will only accept cash with either coins or small bills (€10.00 or less).

    T3 PORTBUS Ticket Price 2016

The ticket price is €2.00 for a single and €3.00 for a day return.

The T10 ticket or the Barcelona Card are not valid on the T3 PORTBUS.

  8.

    Ahoy Matey Ourusualbeach

Oh wow!...we live 45 minutes from the port, and we cannot take advantage of this deal due to other obligations that we cannot change.

Thanks for the heads up! Great find!

  9. Just be glad you don't have an apostrophe

So true!... We are one of those with the apostrophe. O'Connor.....

It has been a nightmare with Royal Caribbeans computer system over the years.. The computer would keep opening a new account, because something did not match exactly... One cruise listed us as O'Connor, that triggered another account to be open with Royal.... We had trouble with our Crown & Anchor points for a good while. (being nice here)

Our cruise bookings are Oconnor now without the apostrophe, but our passport shows the apostrophe... .

We even have trouble at the local pharmacy where the staff files our prescription under the letter C and not O.......

We still have trouble with online accounts and subscriptions when checking on something.

  10. I hope he makes a better Concierge than a LA.

He would not give me my crystal block last month.

He said it's the cruise after I earned it. WRONG!

Oh no, Sergey is a concierge now? We met him on the Legend of the Seas last spring as a Loyal Ambassador. It was his first assignment as an Ambassador. Although he presents a professional attitude, lets just say that he had alot to learn about Royal's procedures.

We were due a block on our sailing, but never thought to ask Sergey about it. On our following cruise, we were told that we should have received one.

We ended up calling Crown & Anchor, and they sent us a block in the mail.

  11. Is this available online anywhere?

A few years back the pricing was $4.95 for all you can eat with drinks being an extra charge which I don't remember. You could also get some of the foods to go.

Anyone have details on Johnny Rockets now? Has it changed?

We will be on Liberty right after dry dock.

    Thanks in advance.

    Ahoy Lerin

The Freedom of the Seas is Liberty's sister ship. , Their Johnny Rockets charges $6.95 per person which also includes the gratuity. Sodas are now included in the cost. You can ordered more than one soda, and even get a cup to go. You can order multiple burgers etc, if you wish..

  12. Called to reserve at the Radisson in February but they had a 2 night minimum stY. Bummer

Have you checked the Radisson online bookings? Some times, they allow you to book for just one night. If there is an event in town, they will require a two-three nights stay.

No matter, there are so many hotels available in the area...

The parkportcanaveral.com website offers a hotel stay with parking for $95 at Cocoa Beach Suites.

    http://www.parkportcanaveral.com/cocoa-beach-snooze-cruise.html#.VnXqiBUrKUk

  13. Cruisers also use the Days Inn and her sister hotel the Best Western in Cocoa Beach. They are older hotels, but their rooms are clean. The Best Western is on the beach, and the Days Inn is across the street from the beach.

It's a few minutes walk to the Cocoa Beach Pier where there is live music and eateries on the pier.

Publix, our local grocery store is across the street where the deli will cook up anything fresh for you that they sell at the hot foods counter.

Beef O'Bradys, a sports bar is across the street.

Both hotels are about 3 miles to the port. A taxi ride for 4 people with luggage costs you around $15 or so...

Whatever hotel you chose, don't forget to read their reviews at trip advisor.

If we are meeting friends, we will chose a cruise package at the local hotels. If we sail alone, we park our car at parkportcanaveral.com for $6.99 a day. They will charge 8 days for a 7 nights sailing or charge 5 days for a 4 nights sailing, etc.

Which ever parking lot you chose, they all charge for that extra day.

We love terminal one at Port Canaveral for embarkation and debarkation.

  14. Ahoy Mateys...

I already received a response from the special needs department in regard to our egg crate request for our Freedom of the Seas sailing..

Below is the contents of the email response:

Thank you for contacting us with this information. We have gone ahead and made the appropriate notes in the reservations. We will place a mattress topper on embarkation day.

    Best regards,
