  1. I am one of those folks, especially since my first cruise in '09 was on the Triumph out of NYC and was such a great experience. I was also disappointed that this ship was getting re-deployed over winter as we were looking at taking a bahamas cruise in March, and NYC would have just been way more convenient. I hope that they work out some of these kinks/bugs as the crew become acclimated to the ship and the routine- especially food wise. Cruises aren't known for 5 star dining, but acceptable dining would be good enough.
  2. I've seen 10% off shore excursion when you buy wifi sometimes, but otherwise prices usually stay the same.
  3. That's why I was asking- since this thread is on the RCL board.
  4. Virgin and MSC both have status match programs and might be interesting to look into.
  5. What i'm a bit confused about in this is that RCL continues to push the "no serious injuries" line when we've all seen videos of people being directly hit by flying deck chairs. It seems like there was a failure on many levels here to have so many guests outside still when they could have seen this coming (cue the conversation about a staff meteorologist again).
  6. Is RCL doing this, too? I know Carnival had texted this to their folks.
  7. I think we need a Willdra fan club cruise where we can hear live commentary, based on the amount of positive feedback on your latest review. Thanks, as always, for sharing your sense of humor and experience with us 😄
  8. Good luck! Definitely let us know how it works out. I'd definitely avoid any online forms or emailing them to credit you- a phone call would probably work best (at least it did for me).
  9. I went on a cruise in 2009 and could only remember the ships name, rough month and the itinerary. When I booked a cruise last year, I noticed that it was missing from my account. I called Carnival and the customer service rep was able to find and confirm my sailing and learned that I had an older VIFP number, so she put in a request for the account I had now to be merged with that old account. That process took about two weeks but it eventually happened and I was bumped up in status. She did say that some of the cruises pre-2000's might not be in their system, but it's worth trying if you think it'll bump you up in status.
  10. Same here. I was in a Deluxe OV on the Panorama in December of this year and less than a week later had an offer in my cruise planner for a cove balcony mid-forward which I gladly jumped on for $200 (saved about $200 from buying it that way when booking). I had to pay the upgrade cost on the spot but am still not paid in full otherwise.
  11. She's still being built and has another sea trial to complete, plus the shipyard can only work as fast as their suppliers are able to as well. There are a lot of unknowns when it comes to delivery, and these days there is precedent for delayed delivery for many reasons. I think my point remains valid.
  12. I hate to say this, but I'd book it just for the fact that the inaugural could be delayed or cancelled for any number of reasons (other lines have experienced delays in delivery post-covid).
  13. I'm so glad that I'm not the only one thinking Icon is ugly 🙂 Folks will likely have a great time on her, but dear lord RCL really sacrificed something to try to do it all on this ship.
  14. I love seeing that MarQ is on the Venezia! We had him on the Dream in December and he really seemed to be great at his job.
  15. I meant someone on the design team needed to take a further out view of the overall look of the ship (in the renderings). On one hand, i'm excited to see a new ship sailing. On the other, when the new ship looks so odd at every angle, I wish they would have put more thought into how she looks overall vs. cramming everything on it.
  16. Icon has started a series of weeklong Sea Trials according to this source. CruiseHive also reporting similar without a video. She looks...interesting..while floating. I know they were trying to go all in on the ship's design, but i can't help but wonder if anyone took a step back from the renderings and photos to look at her profile from a distance.
  17. 100% agree. By that point, most folks have already shoved their way through the Lido line, too, making the entire day that much easier. I showed up at 1:15 for my last cruise, and I might just make that my new thing going forward after how quick the whole thing was.
  18. Not to mention, land vacations give the benefit of running to Walmart to get more if some of it goes bad for whatever reason.
  19. Lol. Highly doubt it, especially given how far it is from other ports frequented by the cruise lines.
  20. I agree with the other poster- any vacation is what you make of it. Also, as another mentioned, you're getting on a ship that just got out of a drydock at the end of May, so you're likely going to get just as good of an experience as any in terms of the overall condition of the ship. Curious- what bells and whistles are you hoping the Pride has that others didn't? If there's something specific another ship offers that you enjoyed more, you could always try to transfer the deposit to another sailing.
  21. I've seen a few reports of elation having trouble producing fresh water onboard and needing to stop in port Canaveral to resupply, interrupting it's current voyage. Anyone onboard and can tell us what it's like or if they've updated you about port adjustments? Nassau isn't far from the Florida coast, I'm hopeful that folks won't experience huge interruptions.
  22. Interesting that me asking for clarification from three entirely vague posts is somehow baiting folks into saying something that isn't kind about another group of cruisers. It's almost like you're saying the quiet part out loud for those other posters by your comments and trying to confirm what I was reading into it. Asking a question is giving the benefit of the doubt when untrue or unkind statements are made. Edit: I'll add that if people aren't willing to clarify their comments in an open forum and stand behind them, they shouldn't post them at all.
  23. I see that it's hard for you to be kind.
  24. I'm just asking for folks to be clear with their words and intentions. How is asking for clarity "baiting" anyone, unless the words I'm asking for clarity around are taking cheap shots at certain groups of people? *i'll note that I've asked for clarification three times in this thread and have been ignored by all of those original posters.
