Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Oh, no! After four cruises last year with Princess, we were disappointed with the quality of the food on our New Year’s cruise and moved over to Celebrity for our spring break. We’ve heard the food is better. The wines are downright terrible except in Sabatinis. I’ve never been tempted to bring my own bottles but after this last cruise, that’s the only way. We are from California and love great wine. Oddly, the desserts were not good – something we enjoyed on both our April and September cruise on discovery, and July cruise on Ruby. And what is up with that bright yellow fake butter?
  2. Our last two cruises were Princess and we are doing our spring cruise on Celebrity because we were really disappointed in the food on Ruby Princess last week -- especially Sabatini's, which was odd because we LOVED Sabatini's on Discovery this spring. We're giving Princess one last whirl in December with a New Year's cruise on Diamond to Mexican Riviera.
  3. Thanks! Agent refused and within 3 days the FCC was back in my account and we are good to go for June 29–as long as one of us doesn’t catch the Covid again 🙄
  4. My agent sat on phone yesterday 4 hours trying to get our cruise credit from Covid cancellation 2 weeks ago. We’re rebooked in 3 weeks but not sure that’s going to happen. Princess suggested we pay again for the rebooking and perhaps we’d get our FCC by sailing🙄
  5. We’re both professors and got confirmation email May 22 but no discount code. I’ve had an extended courtesy hold on Alaska cruise (waiting for FCC credits from Covid cancellation sailing 5/31) but after 2 weeks no discount code.
  6. We were to sail on Ruby Princess Memorial Day but one is tested Covid positive two days ago. So rebooked for June 29. Tired, cold symptoms low 99 fever. Be well!
  7. Oh yeah. We ate that French Onion soup nightly on Discovery Princess last month
  8. Try Mer Soliel. We are Rombauer Chardonnay drinkers (buttery oaky $50 bottle) and they had this on Discovery last month. Loved it!
  9. We just returned from Discovery Princess two weeks ago. Our neighbors both caught it onboard (Tuesday packed tender in Santa Barbara) and tested positive on Friday. Line moved them to deck 9 luxe suites. I have asthma and relate to coughers (if my rescue inhaler or steroid hasn’t kicked in I wheeze). We had a notorious Covid Queen aboard Discovery: complaining night 1 she was feverish, exhausted, killer headache and coughing seated next to us. Notified maitre d and he moved us. She spent next week bundled up poolside with chills and coughing. No one isolated her🙄. We steered clear, masking in elevators, hallways and are fine, testing negative twice after returning. Assume some cruisers have it, take precautions and don’t sweat it🤷🏻‍♀️
