  1. I'm sorry to hear you lost your dear friend today. Very strange that it was the same cancer your DH died from. Prayers for you and your friends's family.🙏 Thanks for the new photos of our port of the day. When you stop to look at it, aren't pineapple plants really odd looking? Imagine being the first person to see one and wondering what do you do with that prickly growth in the center? Your mention of Prolia reminds me that my bone density test results were excellent. I'm hoping never to have osteoporosis! One less thing to worry about. Glad your DH Pat is home now. Hope he is back to normal soon. You're not alone Dixie. We didn't think much of our visit to the Amazon either. Maybe it was just our cruise, since we were onboard together. One and done for us! Thanks for our photos of St. Petersburg and Tampa. It's really a pretty place. We've cruised from Tampa before, plus we visited our DGD who attends U.of South Florida Tampa. She loves it down there! Thanks for the photos.
  2. Hi Nancy, hope you have a great day on the balcony enjoying the nice warm weather. Michigan's not so nice today. 😉 I'm glad to hear they don't have a lot of people in quarantine on your cruise. You mentioned our ill fated cruise last year. If you are referring to Covid that was in June on Island Princess. Somehow we came off the Volendam without catching the virus, along with the latest way overcrowded, to us anyway, Sky Princess. I wish you could have wandered around on Devil's Island. It was quite an enjoyable experience. We had the yellow fever shot, but honestly I don't remember any mosquitoes there at all. Enjoy the remainder of your cruise and the same goes for Linda @lindaler.
  3. Good morning friends! I am going out this morning to my rescheduled hair appointment, and of course it will be raining. In fact maybe even thunderstorming. Temp now is 51 and it will reach 64 if we're lucky. Thanks to Rich @richwmnfor today's content on the Daily. He has chosen some good days to discuss. International Day of Awesomeness sounds good. I certainly hope that holds true for all of you. We don't want an average day today. How about International Find a Pay Phone Day? I have only seen one in London in the the last decade. Has anyone else seen one anywhere? And tell us about your middle name because it's Middle Name Pride Day. Mine is fine. I can take it or leave it. It's Kay and I'm not named for anyone in the family so it's rather blah. Nice quote, the Za'atar fish and chips sound different, and I don't have anything to add about the drink or wine. Hopefully Debbie @dfish, Dixie @summer slope, and Ann @cat shepardcan elaborate and get us interested in trying them. Thanks in advance to Vanessa @JazzyVfor the Care and Celebration lists. Prayers will be said for all on our list and those around the world in terrible situations. 🙏 I appreciate prayers for my DB. Yesterday he felt lightheaded, his oxygen levels plummeted and they had to call an ambulance. He recovered quickly and they didn't have to take him in for care. I think prescribing oxygen would be a good idea but they haven't done that yet. Now, on a happier front, three cheers for those on the Celebration list! 🥂 Hope you all enjoy your happy events and cruises. Seems like we have a lot of people disembarking in the next week or so. Enjoy the cruises while you can! As Debbie mentioned yesterday snow is expected in Michigan. DS, DDIL and both DGSs are flying to St. Louis this afternoon for a weekend soccer event. Hope the flights are not affected from Detroit! While there they will see some of our family members so that is a nice bonus. Go Jaguars!🤞 The destination today of Vavau Islands, Tonga, Neiafu must be referring to the port of the day from May 28, 2021. Then it was referred to as Vava u, Tonga. On the internet it is listed as Vava'u, Tonga. It is the second largest island of Tonga and the capital is Neiafu. Hope that's all straight now. Here's a link to that day's posts. By the way I scrolled through all 6 pages and saw one person had been there before. Ann @Vict0riann posted her photos from a visit there. I hope she can repost them. (Also hope Pat is doing well this morning after his surgery yesterday). However we did have a lot of flowers posted on May 28, 2021 in case anyone is interested.🌻 I have not been there before so have no photos to share. Time for the treadmill, prayers, and the news. Hope you all have an awesome day!!
  4. Today is International Day of Awesomeness, International Find a Pay Phone Booth Day, and Middle Name Pride Day You can't force love, I realized. It's there or it isn't. 5. Gerry that is so nice of your DH and his son to drive that long distance to check on the elderly neighbor. Thank goodness he was okay. And funny thing, I find I get a lot of work done around the house when DH is away doing something else. Until he retired I was used to having the place to myself all day and used to get lots done. Strange how that works!😉 I hope she gets a celebration all week long! Early happy birthday wishes to her! 🎂
  6. @Vict0riannnice photos of Apia. I'm glad you figured out how to post the photos. Yes, it was hot all right! You did the right thing. There should be someone take a look and see what went wrong. This shouldn't happen! Looks like quite a special dinner. I would enjoy some of that pizza.
  7. Excuse me, I just realized this is not a Grand voyage so you are absolutely right. That deposit is for the Grand South America/Antarctica. Sorry for the incorrect information.
  8. Rich, the Sea Day brunch is an interesting concept. Glad to hear you enjoyed it. Terri, I'm glad to hear you slept well last night, along with several others in our Daily group. I actually slept pretty well last night too. I've been taking one Benadryl before bedtime and feel like I get a bit more sleep that way. I hope the grouting gets complete so the contractor can finish up all those last projects. Good luck with the ottoman delivery.🤞 Happy for your good sleep too, Roy. You sound like you're feeling a little more chipper this week. Sleep is healing! Also want to wish @Vict0riann's Pat good luck on his surgery as well. Looking good Graham! Especially the dessert, my favorite course.😋 Terry, I always like to hear which recipes folks like the best so thanks for the validation. A standing ovation sounds amazing! Hope tomorrow's weather isn't as bad as predicted. I told everyone last week when my stylist cancelled my hair appointment due to a stomach bug that my rescheduled appointment would be on a rainy day. Bingo! Tomorrow morning we are having rain. Probably buckets of it! More good sleep news from you. Hope the pneumonia shot doesn't cause much soreness. I had the same shot Monday and it wasn't too bad. Thanks so much for the hilarious memes! Vanessa, sorry to hear you may have frozen precipitation tomorrow too. Lucky you with nothing that needs to be done tomorrow away from home. Crazy your generic eye drops are nowhere to be found so I'm glad the GoodRX option will help out some. Thank you for the extra prayers for my family member's difficult situation. That's an amazing dessert display! 👏 Speaking of desserts, do you have the wonderful ice cream server who we enjoyed so much on our Volendam cruise? Her name was something like Harvelle. She was quite vocal in her greetings to everyone. She is the one a Lido crew member told us was on her first contract - she's still joyful! Still cracks me up to think of it!😂
  9. I just downloaded the 4.23 update on my Iphone 8 (definitely not a phone fanatic lol) and other than having to sign in again it's working fine. No bugs as far as I can see.
  10. From my experience they want a $5000 deposit. That is total not per person.
  11. We arrived in Apia, Samoa on April 14, 2014 on Golden Princess on a crystal clear day. They made us feel so welcome with their greetings and dances. Some people stopped to shop on their way into town. Flowers everywhere We decided to walk along the shoreline construction on what appears to be a church The clock tower Cute buses A visitor center Passing the church again, and seeing the men on the scaffolding was a little scary. I wonder if the church was damaged in a storm or hurricane? Somebody was welcoming us to Samoa We had an enjoyable day in Apia!
  12. Good morning friends! It's a cloudy 52F this a.m. with a few showers expected and a high of 64. Thank you Rich @richwmnfor our Daily and Fleet Report information. I see some interesting topics of conversation in our days to celebrate. Barbie Day, Get Over It Day, and Panic Day. I'm long past the Barbie stage though DD loved them. If something happens to get over today I will do my best and I'll try not to panic. I'm already thinking of something to get over. I wanted to drive to the nearby gym after breakfast but since there are some showers in the area, I may walk so I don't get the clean cars dirty. See, no panic, just walk and use an umbrella if necessary.😉 The quote by Emily Dickinson is thought provoking. I guess that's why we have quotes here. I'll wait for Debbie's @dfishrecipe on the chicken skillet dish to see if I would like it. No thanks to the drink and the wine. Prayers for all on our Care list. Hoping that helps!🙏 Many prayers said each day for my family member who is under extreme stress all week. May things go their way. Three cheers for the Celebration list people. I hope everyone enjoys their cruise or other happy news.🥂🎉 Our port of the day is Apia (Upolo Island), Samoa. It was first posted here on Dec. 9, 2022 so this is its second showing. I will post the link to that date so you can retrieve your photos there. I have been to Apia in 2014 on Golden Princess but since I was on my Amazon cruise on Dec. 9, I wasn't able to post any photos then. I will have to go in and find a few. I will go ahead and post this and put the photos in my next post. I hope everyone is doing well and has a happy, safe day! PS I hope @portofromeis okay. No post yet!

  14. I've been catching up on the Daily before dinner. Lots of interesting updates from everyone, including good health news from @aliaschief and not so good with continued pain for @Cruzin Terri and difficult days for @kazu. Either way we are here to rejoice or commiserate and always support you. For some reason today was busier than usual. DH has been keeping busy doing chores all week. I didn't make a honey do list, so this must be his own list of things that have been on his mind. He did the power washing and shrub trimming, then today he washed his car and then changed the oil in the power washer. That spurred me to clean the storm door glass and 3 windows that surround the patio which he power washed earlier this week. Then I noticed the ironing was adding up so decided to do that. Yes, I still iron things that need it, but I collect some over time after laundry days, and do it all at once. Some of it was from our February cruise (DH's shirts and khakis mostly). Meanwhile, the landscaping people arrived on our street and threw down the pine straw. Eventually someone with a blower comes around to get it off the lawn and sidewalks, etc. You should see the pile of pine straw around the tree next to the street! It's a foot high! It honestly looks ridiculous. I'll have to go out and tamp down these piles around the trees and shrubs and pick it out of the shrubs. I do have standards and this is not cutting it!. All in all a good day. I hope it turned out to be a good day for all of you!
  15. I just happened to tune in early and was shocked to see her ready to sail by the condos. Just dumb luck.
  16. Jacqui, I hope things start looking better soon. Hugs from all of us.🤗 Thanks for the nice photos of St. John's. Good catch! I guess Rob is sailing on the Oosterdam. Very nice photos of St. John's Lenda. Strange how you were cruising the last two times it was port of the day. We missed out!
  17. Well, that's wonderful news! I'm so glad she will work out for your household and I'm sure Tana is happy about her friend coming in to help. Win, win!
  18. Before I get on that treadmill, here is my only contribution for St. John's Newfoundland which I found on the March 2022 link to Rich's post. We were supposed to visit St. John's, NF in Sept. 2015 while on a transatlantic cruise on Caribbean Princess. Due to bad weather we had to avoid the area and headed into Halifax early. We've never had another opportunity to stop there again unfortunately. Weather report for St. John's that day: Sorta glad I didn't go, you know?
  19. Good morning friends! We have a temp of 50 degrees this morning and are expected to be sunny and 66 later today. Another fine day because I have no place to go. Expect rain on Friday morning... Today we have the unusual day to celebrate called Be Nasty Day. I found this description of it online: "Be Nasty Day is celebrated every year on March 8. A fun, light-hearted holiday, this day isn't meant to be taken seriously at all. Be Nasty Day is a great tongue-in-cheek way to celebrate being a little less polite. Sometimes, society takes the idea of politeness too far." Okay, that sounds alright. I guess we can celebrate that. International (Working) Women's Day should be a day of celebration though women work every day even if they don't have a job outside the home. And National Proofreading Day is a great one. I see so many mistakes sometimes in the written word that I can barely decipher the contents. But not here on the Daily!! We're all perfect here. The quote from Mya Angelou is a very nice one. She was quite a thoughtful woman and was born in St. Louis, Missouri by the way. Wow, the menu suggestion sounds so good! You know anything from Cheesecake Factory is loaded with calories and oh so good! I'm sure Debbie @dfishwill have suggestions on how to alter it a little. I pass on the drink and wine of the day. I'm glad to see Linda @lindalerpost this morning. We miss all our posters who are busy sailing the seas and that's quite a few of you. I hope Jacqui @kazuhas time to drop by and let us know she's well. For all on the Care list, prayers to everyone. 🙏 For all on the Celebration list, a shoutout to everyone. We enjoy hearing your good news.🥂 A big thanks to Rich @richwmn, Vanesss @JazzyV, Debbie @dfish, Ann @cat shepardand Dixie @summer slopefor helping put the Daily together every day. And thank you to all who post here! The port today is St. John's Newfoundland-Labrador, Canada. Trying to keep the two Canadian cities straight is difficult for some of us. Is it Saint or St., is it Johns or John's? Hope we have it correct. The Newfoundland St. John's was our port of the day on Dec. 10, 2021 and March 10, 2022. I don't think I've been to either because of bad weather. It was the Newfoundland one we missed in 2015 on a northern transatlantic. Here are links to Rich's posts from those dates. Time to get on the treadmill, say my prayers, and watch the news. Hope you all have a great day today.

  21. 🙋‍♀️ Just kiddin' you, @RedneckBob! Birthdays are our fun days!😄
  22. Nancy, thanks for your reply about Boi Bumba. I don't know what color team we had but it was no doubt the LOUD team! You say you are leaving late tonight. Is your next stop Macapa for a service call only (no disembarking for passengers)?
  23. This morning after posting, I did my treadmill, then breakfast and then went to my gym for the first workout of the week. At my Dr. appointment yesterday she mentioned this will help my bone health so I do want to continue with it. Just took a short break late last year. Hopefully the bone density test comes back as good as it was 3 years earlier. After the gym I went outside to clean up leaves around the shrubs while DH trimmed a few shrubs that are already trying to get out of hand. Later this week the landscapers will be bringing some pine straw mulch to throw down among our shrubs. They literally take big handsful and throw it down hard! I hate the stuff but unless I want to take over the mulching each year this is what it will be. I'm a fan of hardwood mulch but down South they use the pine straw. This is all included in our HOA dues. If we change to the hardwood we would have to pay extra for the mulch and someone to do it for us. I know my limitations nowadays. In the past we did it all, but it was back breaking work. No thank you!
