  1. We had an Edge SV going through Panama Canal in March. We didn’t specifically book it for the Panama Canal views but it was cool to see the view from the rear going through the Locks. However the best views are in the front of the ship, which I assume there will be general viewing areas on the ship. Just make sure you get up early to get your spot
  2. We received a very odd letter by email from Celebrity about a seemingly new 48 hour rule prior to port arrival to cancel shore excursions Did anyone else get this? Does anyone know if this is new or important?
  3. We love Eden breakfast and will do that about half the time (but for us, dinner is a big no as well)
  4. This is exactly the one we are taking. I think this was closer to $140pp when we booked back in May so I can imagine it’s gone up a bit since then.
  5. We’re on the Equinox in January and also plan to do this excursion and very excited about it. Any suggestions on what to do on Nevis that we might not otherwise think about doing ?
  6. In March, our cabin steward told us that due to safety reasons, and things that happened just prior to our cruise, that he couldn’t put a lounger on the balcony. But during the cruise, we had heard (and seen from the ports) that other SV’s had loungers. So I’m pretty sure I was being fed a line to maybe get a better Gratuity. However I usually tip extra at the end of the cruise and wasn’t so generous with this room steward as I usually am. Should I have gave him a tip while I was asking for a lounger?
  7. We have sailed twice on the Edge on 11th deck SV and loved it both times. Very quiet and no noise from above or below.
  8. If one has concerns about overbooking, probably best to book an actual cabin versus a guarantee arrangement. On Celebrity, we’ve always gotten the cabin we pre booked (Princess is a whole other opposite story)
  9. If you want the earliest time, you need to do it on the first day the check in opens up (usually 45 days before sailing) and you’ll probably need to do it in the early am Early check in times go quickly
  10. I would keep the SV. It may not be 100% clear but all Aqua Class cabins are Infinite Verandah, not traditional balconies
  11. We did Edge Panama Canal in March. All comments above are accurate and let me add some commentary 1) there are 2 sets of locks, one for larger ships and one for smaller ships. Beyond will be using the large ship locks 2) If you have access to the Retreat area (front) of the ship, you’ll have a nice view. If not, you’ll only be able to have a side and back view when going through the locks. This is the downfall of E class ships doing Panama Canal 3) If you’re on an excursion, you will go through the locks with the ship from about 6-9am, then get off the ship to meet your excursion. However when you reconnect with the ship, it will be after the ship has went back through the locks so the only chance you’lll see the locks is in the morning, unless you don’t have an excursion
  12. We are considering May or Sept 2025. May I ask your reasoning to select May 2025?
  13. How did you like September? How was the weather (specifically rain)?
  14. Obviously this isn’t just a “personal travelogue-type” of issue and have others with same concern or past experience to share which is what Cruise Critic is all about
  15. I’m assuming from recent announcement cadence that we should see this released tomorrow (Tues Nov 28th). We will see We’re considering either May or Sept 2025
  16. Just to put it in perspective in case you haven’t been on that type of ship is that Eden is a big place with several sections. There is the Eden Cafe, an area with a bar, seating and stage for hanging out casually and listening to music when it’s playing, and you go down a set of stairs to the Eden dining venue. All of these sections are open to each other. Problem is that each sailing may vary when a performer is in the Eden bar that may be heard when you’re in the dining venue. I think our dinner was around 6pm and we started out quiet but soon after we’re drowned out by loud music from the bar area
  17. Without the wine pairing, we paid $60pp on the Edge in March Panama Canal cruise. Personally I wasn’t that impressed and wouldn’t do it again. Food wasn’t that great and the music from the Eden entertainment area was super loud.
  18. I checked in at 5am, and 2 other couples checked in at 5:30am and 7am and all got 11:30 arrival But our 4th couple waited until 9:14am and got noon 🙄
  19. A little condescending but thank you. We like to board early as that just extends the time on the ship on the first day so it feels like we have an extra day, as opposed to being a throw away day to board the ship and get settled
