What is the dress at dinner in the evening? Are jeans ok if they are nice?

I checked on getting to Skagway from Haines in order to take the train. The only way apparently is by ferry. Timing just doesn't work out.

Skagway limits the number of ships because of a rock slide that hit the port.

I think I can answer the second question. I've been on other Viking ocean cruises, and there has never been a sail away party or anything like that.

I grew up in Wisconsin Dells! Yes, there are a lot of touristy things to do there -- and many are fun for tourists! The best "nature" things are the Upper Dells boat trips and the "Original" Wisconsin Ducks (which rides on the Lower Dells river.) 40 years ago, my husband drove Ducks. And I made fudge downtown. Have a fun trip there, and a fun trip in Alaska.

I am going on Viking Homelands is a couple weeks. I understand how to use "airplane mode" to make sure I don't incur roaming charges while in Europe. But when I am on the ship and using the ship's WIFI, what will I be able to do? Send a message? Make a call? Facetime? I understand I can download google maps (before leaving home.) What other things would you suggest. Thank you. This is my first post, so please advise if I didn't get something right. Appreciate it!
