  1. Totally agree with the premise. But, don't take away my options because of those people, is all I'm saying.
  2. I can't say that does or doesn't happen. I've never experienced it though. Not that there is anything wrong with it. They are as entitled to it as I am. Enjoy
  3. Same for us on our Alaska cruise. The ship was late getting into port so everything got pushed back. We were a little late getting to the terminal so "the ship" was ready for boarding as soon as we got there. Our Genie took us to the Coastal Kitchen to wait for our suite to be prepared for our arrival. The best hurry-up and wait I ever did. For @4-2-N-8 Communication with your Genie is key to success.
  4. LOL, if you spend thousands more on Star Class, you get the UDP included. Oh, and the deluxe/unlimited beverage package, and laundry, and .................. Just kidding. True but kidding.
  5. "Aruba 303H access points", LOL, is that another name for "repeaters"?
  6. As I've said many times in here and others, I'm an IT geek wannabe. So, excuse my ignorance. I don't remember what cruise or ship I was on but in one of the closets, there was a Wifi repeater <(for lack of a more official name) with a couple of about 4-inch antennas. Isn't that the norm now, each cabin has a dedicated Wifi repeater. That was my understanding that that is what was going to happen/promised. I don't know. This tech stuff is hard to keep up with.
  7. My next cruise is. But, I don't know about the next or the one I may take between now and then. Probably not!
  8. That is very true. Ignorance is bliss when it involves a complex business like cruising. But, I've always been told that in business the repeat customer is the best customer. Again, I believe what is going on now is the pinned-up disposable cash coming out. 100%? No.
  9. Unless something unusual happens, this is going to be a Federal beef. Texas or Puerto Rico or any state doesn't have any jurisdiction in international waters. I'm all for castration, painfully!
  10. Yes, I know that wasn't aimed at me. But, as usual, I have a thought: Sustainability! Can RCCL keep it up in the long run? I don't know. To be honest, I hope they don't keep it up. I want the fairs to drop or become more economically level. ALSO, I believe that people still have some money saved up from the great shutdown. The saved disposable cash is being spent, now/still. In any case, no matter what is keeping the ships at 100%+, I hope it isn't sustainable. But, that's a selfish wish. I like good/great value for my money. But, I'm still sailing.
  11. Totally disagree. But first, I am a good tipper, I tip extra a lot, and I've never removed or adjusted my auto tips. However, I do believe people should be able to remove a portion of their tips if they received less than excellent service or at least less than expected/customary. I don't think making people mad just for the sake of making them mad is a civilized thing to do.
  12. If it meant putting a really bad guy in jail and protecting others from him/her, I'd let my child's name be used in legal proceedings. Would I be happy about it? Would I want it? NO! But, it's just too easy to have the child's name changed if needed in the future.
  13. BTW, to answer your question directly, YES! If cruising out of any country is different and requires something the U.S. doesn't, you need to know about it and comply. Australia says that Surge Protectors aren't allowed to go on their ships departing Australian ports. But, that doesn't necessarily apply to U.S. departures. It sure doesn't say so on the U.S. RCCL site. And as far as, "Since you always follow policy", I do. But, I don't make policy up. I know what you are referring to and I didn't make the 6-month thing up, it is right there in black and white. BTW, RCCL Australia also has the 6-month requirement. But, I won't get into that again, period.
  14. Well, why do they have a website for Australia and one for the UK, and one for the U.S.? Different requirements and different cultures are my guess. Why can we, U.S. citizens cruise to the Caribbean from the U.S. without a passport but the U.K. can't? And if you looked at their FAQ for required documents they have unique requirements other than the U.S. FAQs address. They also have unique COVID requirements, still. Now, keep in mind, I'm only addressing in my debate what is a U.S. departures cruise. I don't care what Australia or the UK or Russia requires. I just don't believe their requirements necessarily mirror the U.S.'s/RCCL's, to include Surge Protectors, otherwise the U.S. FAQ would address it. But, if anyone can find where RCCL U.S. prohibits them, I'm fine with it.
  15. No, I've said my peace and it's all valid and I stand by it. You sure know how to go off the rails. What the hell do UK and MPs have to do with anything here? WOW.
  16. I highly suggest you actually read the link that you posted. Here it is: https://www.royalcaribbean.com/aus/en/faq/questions/can-i-bring-an-extension-onboard?country=AUS https://www.royalcaribbean.com/faq/questions/prohibited-items-onboard-policy What items are prohibited onboard a Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship? A Firearms & Ammunition, including realistic replicas. Sharp Objects, including all knives and scissors. (Note: Personal grooming items such as safety razors are allowed. Scissors with blade length less than 4 inches are allowed.) Illegal Drugs & Substances CBD Oil / CBD Products Candles, Incense, Coffee Makers, Clothes Irons, Travel Steamers & Hot Plates. (Items that generate heat or produce an open flame. This includes heating pads, clothing irons, hotplates, candles, incense, and any other item that may create a fire hazard. NOTE: The only exception to this policy is curling irons and hair straighteners. Matches and normal lighteners are allowed onboard. However, "torch lighters" and novelty lighters that look like guns are not allowed onboard. Torch lighters emit a powerful concentrated flame, and therefore are prohibited. Hoverboards Martial Arts, Self Defense, and Sports Gear, including handcuffs, pepper spray, night sticks. Flammable Liquids and Explosives, including lighter fluid and fireworks. Hookahs & Water Hookah Pipes HAM Radios Electrical Extension Cords Dangerous Chemicals, including bleach and paint. Perishable Food & Meat Products Alcoholic Beverages (beer, seltzer or hard liquor) seized on embarkation day will not be returned.
  17. I'm not trying to pick on anyone here. But, I like to be fair about things. I've been waiting for this thread run its course before saying this. All governmental parking facilities in Florida are clearly marked at the parking facility's ticket dispensers and its websites. The Port of Canaveral goes out of its way, on its website and I'd bet where you pull your ticket (I didn't look at the ticket dispenser (in the business we call it a spitter) because I knew what to expect before I got there), that it charges for the full day you enter and the full day you exit. You may not like it, I know I don't, but it isn't a "SCAM". It is what it is advertised, not hidden. If it was hidden, it would be a scam. https://www.portcanaveral.com/Cruise/Directions-Parking "Parking Rates Parking is $17.00 per day plus tax for vehicles & RVs, including day of arrival and day of departure". So, if you go on a 3-night cruise, you pay for parking for 4 days. If you go on a 4-night cruise, you pay for 5 days of parking. ........................... 3 nights but 4 partial days:
  18. That's an Australian RCCL Faq. I've mentioned that in the past. It doesn't apply to U.S. Cruises. Why? I think, I believe, it my opinion, that Australia has a rule/regulation/law that requires it, not RCCL.
  19. For me, reasonable means the rate of increase in a short period of time. If cruise fares go up at the inflation rate or a little below or a little above, no big deal. But, my own wish to cruise and purchase a cruise in the categories that I want has gone way up beyond inflation rates and amenities/services have gone way down. Especially compared to what I'm getting from my Military Retirement and Social Security (8% increase this year which doesn't reflect the REAL cost of living increases). Thankfully I have more than just those two. - And as stated, I don't think they are going down to pre-COVID prices either. I just hope they stay the same so that the economy can catch up and make things more "reasonable" compared to not too long ago. "Everytime people demand lower prices and get them, they then complain about what they're getting (or not getting anymore) for their money". Well, we are paying high cruise fares now and getting a lot less for it, fact, not fiction. BTW, 30 years ago, many things were more expensive, comparatively speaking than they are today. How much were TVs 30 years ago, especially when Plasma first came out? Now you can get a LED TV, a much larger TV for under $1000.00s and it has a whole bunch of bells and whistles.
  20. I think something needs to be clarified about parking in Florida. Most airports and cruise ports are owned and operated by Counties. Not the state of Florida. Each county is free to have its own fee structure. FLL and Port Everglades (I was General Manager for both at separate times, of course. But, I had responsibilities at both at the same time) are run by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners. Port of Miami is a Miami-Dade County operation. However, the Port of Canaveral is an Independent Governmental Agency of the state of Florida and has its own Board of Commissioners. The Port of Tampa Bay is a part of the Hillsborough County Port District.
  21. I don't disagree with this at all. However, I have a little bit of a different look at it. Yes, they will never reduce their costs/fees/fares. But, as they start to get caught up with the debt and IF passenger counts go down, they will allow inflation to catch up and incomes to rise (not holding my breath for that, much) and not raise their costs/fees/fares. It may take years for cruise fares to become reasonable again. But, as long as folks are willing to keep the ships full and pay those over-inflated prices and reduced amenities, not much will change. I'm guilty! I'll still cruise because I love it so much. However, I won't be cruising as often and not in the upper-tier classes as much as I'd like.
  22. I can't tell you how I feel about people like this or what I'd like to do with them as I'd be kicked off the board. I can tell you that having investigated some cases like this and child abuse, spousal abuse, child trafficking, and so on, I wish nothing but the worst for those perpetrators.
  23. That looks like a good option. I have one similar to it. It worked well.
  24. Surge Protected? I've never found on RCCL's website that prohibited them. But, a lot of people will say that they are prohibited. I know that I've taken power strips/blocks (no cords) that are protected, without a problem. But, be forewarned that if there is some policy/regulation/rule hidden away somewhere, then the terminal brown shirts can confiscate them. Your, the OP's link shows that the item has protection. Good luck.
