  1. Okay, I went a pulled my cruise file and find that at least one of the cruises I went on and had a military discount applied and was booked through our usual TA. Maybe it is the TA that has it in their loyal customer file/system or just remembers folks <(but I doubt that) and they apply it to the booking automatically. Geeeeeeeesh!
  2. I didn't take the time to actually look up the C&A information. I didn't think there was a possibility of having to discuss/debate this further. However, I can tell you that somewhere in the system they know that you are a vet as I have had it applied automatically/without being asked. It could be in the C&A or in your RCCL system somehow/where.
  3. I have a couple of input items to this. I've upgraded a booking or two that included military discounts but when I did upgrade, the discount went away. So, it is my belief that it is not only select sailings, it also has select categories. I think it could be more like Dynamic pricing than select anything. I guess one could argue that Dynamic pricing and "select" anything is the same. If I'm not mistaken, the military status is in your C&A account if you have at some time put it into the C&A profile and automatically applied to subsequent bookings. I hope so anyway as I don't even mention it anymore.
  4. To ensure sustainability the plan is to replace one plant a day to be planted by a cabin steward. Sarcasm, of course!
  5. I don't know this for sure, it's just conjecture, but I would imagine that there are many many many different types of beds in the many different categories of cabins, on the many different ships, and supplied/purchased from many different manufacturers. I would imagine that there are different clearances on the many differing beds. Probably not much of a difference but a difference. I'd hate to say that the beds have 10 inches of clearance and there only be 9 1/2 inches. We thought we were good to go with the luggage we got after a cruise where we took note of the space under the bed. Well, on the next cruise, it was different and we had to store our luggage under the bed open/unfolded. Not a big deal, but not what we expected. If you are willing to store your luggage under the bed, open/unfolded, you'd be fine.

  7. But it doesn't have to be. But, that's for a different time and place.
  8. How many times will you visit CoCoCay before you get tired of it? Looking at the upcoming itineraries, ALMOST every embarkation from Florida and in the future, Galveston is making a stop at CoCoCay. I'm in the one-and-done camp unless we have our grandkids with us. I got burned out on Cuzomel after about 5 or 6 consecutive cruises stopping there. So, put me in the "Been there, Done That, Not Gonna Do It Again" column, if I can help it. NOTE: I'm only looking for your opinion/desire. It is your opinion/desire and I'm not trying to change that. I'm also trying to get a feel as to why they've (RCCL) invested so much of their cruiser's time into CoCoCay.
  9. I will not shed a tear over its demise BUT, I do feel bad for those that did enjoy it and future young ones that won't be able to. To me, it always looked like a giant wiffle ball. My suggestion: Make it one of these:
  10. If I had one, which I don't, I wouldn't make it a centerpiece. I have a "Retired Army" hat that I have a bunch of pins on. I may add it to the collection, or I may not. But, the bottom line, I would not make it a centerpiece or a cry for attention. Yes, I do make my military status a centerpiece! But, not a cry for attention.
  11. I believe the, or at least one of the reasons was because they didn't want people congregating inside the terminal ("social distancing"). But, nobody was "social distancing" in the line to get into the terminal. So, they didn't allow anybody to enter the terminal until the ship was ready to take them right on after checking in and they could walk right on without sitting in the waiting area/lounge(s). Of course, it slowed things down even more when people didn't have the paperwork ready or didn't have the correct/any of the required paperwork, you know, those 10 %ers. In May 2022, Seattle, it was a total debacle, I couldn't believe how many people didn't have paperwork/documents ready, too many people had to go through carry-ons/handbags/whatever to get documents out and/or have the tired ole "I didn't know I had to have that" excuse. The line to get into the terminal was backed up to the other end of the TAXI/Bus/dropoff area. Yes, I know we are talking about Canaveral here. But, that's just an example of what I experienced getting on the Ovation. Indy (which I know is not an Oasis) was so easy, it was really organized and fast. We had an issue but it didn't have anything to do with the speed of embarkation for the masses. Our situation was unique to us, I believe. This is one of the videos that I watched. It was done about 10 - 11 months ago. I'd hope they learned from that lesson.
  12. I've posted this once before and stated that things may have changed and am more than open to being corrected if any of the following isn't true or incorrect, now: In the interest of using the proper terminology and Terminal language, there are really only three important terms that are being used incorrectly, in some cases. 1. Boarding Time: This is a term of the past. It no longer has any real importance to the terminal/embarkation process. 2. Check-In: Check-In can have two separate functions. Check-in is when you go online when it is available, either on the app or on the RCCL Website, and fill in your boarding information and get your "Arrival Time". You also Check-In within the Terminal after your "Arrival Time". You don't have to Check-In before your "Arrival Time" but it will slow down your boarding process. 3. Arrival Time: That's the time you get when you precheck in to arrive at the Terminal. It is not a "Boarding Time". Note: If the ship is delayed for whatever reason and you can't board right away when the ship is ready to start the boarding/embarkation process, they will start calling out "Arrival Times" to start the boarding process. Let's say they start boarding the ship at noon, they will start calling for "Arrival Times" starting at the first Arrival Time which is usually 10:30. However, suites and badged cruisers go on before the Arrival Times.
  13. I've been cruising on RCCL since 2016, exclusively. I don't ever remember getting my SeaPass card at the Terminal Check-in. It's always been either in the mailbox at the cabin door or the Genie gave it to us when in the suite. Personally, I'd prefer to get it at the Terminal Check-in. That way, I can put my phone in my backpack and/or not have to keep pulling out a piece of paper.
  14. When it comes to Cruise Terminal parking, especially a terminal that services Oasis Class ships, the early bird gets the worm. HOWEVER, not too early. you've got to give the debarkation folks time to get the he!! out of the garage. Last Oct-Nov we cruised out of Canaveral on the Indy, the garage wasn't an issue and as far as I can tell, it was a full ship. But, I've watched a few Youtube videos that show the new terminal backed up with an Oasis Class ship there.
  15. Does anybody have an update as to if he made it on the ship or not? Inquiring minds want to know.
  16. It doesn't have to be a Driver's License. He doesn't have any other form of Government ID? It can be a Veterans Administration ID, Military ID, State School ID, a bunch of things that are U.S. or State "Government", agency issued, w/picture. Of course, it would have to be something that wasn't in his wallet.
  17. Pinky finger out, of course. Especially when drinking Boones Farm or MD2020 in a paper water cooler-type cup with your name on the side by using a Sharpie. Now that's class. I think I'm gonna wear my cut-off Bib Overalls w/wife beater plaid shirt, Combat Boots, and a hillbilly straw hat to Chops on my next cruise. Now that is real class. Say "HEY" when ya see me. I'll be hard to find because I'm sure I'll fit right in. But, to add even more class, I won't have any ole toothpick sticking out of my mouth, I'll have a "Floss Pick" with the Floss end sticking out of my mouth with just a little mung and blood on it. Man, my wife is one lucky lady, ain't she!
