  1. I booked with FlightEase and got a better rate than if I'd booked directly with the airline. Also my flight is covered by my cancel for any reason insurance. BUT I can't figure out how to get into Flight Ease to look at my seat assignments and such (the Delta website doesn't seem to be working today). When I go into Flight Ease I see options for booking new flights only. This is a stupid question, I suppose, but I am tired of going back and forth trying to figure things out, Thanks so much! Linda
  2. Ship arrives 8 a.m. Personally, having seen Pompei, I could skip Herculaneum and just take a day boat trip to Capri. But we are with our 18-year old grandson, and I think he should do something educational. He enjoys history anyway.
  3. So, I've been to Pompei and want to go to Herculaneum this time when our cruise stops in Naples, on July 27. I will probably resort to the ship's tour, which goes to Herculaneum in the morning and lasts about 3 hours. This prevents us from doing other things, such as a day in Capri or Amalfi, and a lot of the tours of Naples itself also go out in the morning. (I'm sure the heat of the day might factor in). Nonetheless, I don't want to waste a minute in this wonderful port and am looking for suggestions on what to do with the rest of our day. The ship is in port until 7:00 pm. Thanks in advance! Linda
  4. So where was it moved to, and why? I would be interested in an answer to this cruiser's question as well.
  5. Yes, for our stop on July 18, Holland America wants $119.95 pp for a 2 hour Tuk Tuk tour. We booked direct, like you suggested and are paying about half that for a private 3 hour tour! Thanks so much.
  6. I emailed them yesterday. They are quoting me 180 Euro for 3 of us on Best of Dubrovnik 3 hour tour and 120 Euro for 2 hour Dubrovnik in the Palm of Your Hands. I will probably do it. Anything is better than those over-priced cattle calls that the cruise line offers.
  7. Looks like they have 9 different tours to offer. I suppose The Best of Dubrovnik would be the logical choice.
  8. May I add - be VERY CAREFUL to avoid having your pocket picked at La Spezia. Cinque Terre is a popular spot and that is where the Roma hang around. My husband's pocket was picked, we later realized by a 10-year old boy Another in our group was not thinking when he withdrew money from an ATM right at the station, and he was also pick pocketed and his passport was also taken. But worse yet, a female German tourist had her fannypack slit and snatched, and when she chased after the culprit, he pushed her onto the train track in front of an oncoming train. It was tragic! So PLEASE be careful.
  9. Actually Ketchikan is the most interesting stop on the whole cruise, as far as things that can be done from there. Consider booking your own "Deadliest Catch" tour or a float plane to fly and see bears.
  10. Thanks. My cruise is not until July 16, but I will be checking this board frequently, hoping people will be posting up-to-date info. Totally appreciated!
  11. Thank you! That is excellent information, and I understand that things change rapidly these days!
  12. Greetings, We leaving July 16 out of Trieste but flying into Venice a few days earlier. Rather than take the test where you sit in your hotel room and hope for adequate wi-fi, I am hoping there are places in Venice that do testing. I heard there might be testing at the airport, but we are flying in too early for the 3-day rule and are transporting directly from Venice (Tronchetto) to Trieste on embarkation day. I also don't want to wait until we get to the ship, because I believe there will be long lines of passengers waiting to purchase the $60 testing kit that they have a "limited supply" of. I can do my own research, of course, but thought I'd start here first. They are some well-informed cruisers on this board and I usually get great advice. Thanks in advance. Linda
  13. Yes, to what Petunia1950 says. My PCC usually responds same day, but yes, they are slammed. Last few times she actually called me when she should have left the office already, and mentioned she still had other people to call.
  14. I hope I'm not repeating an old topic. But I just got an email from Holland America saying that they will be providing complimentary transfers from Venice City Center (Tronchetto) to the ship in Trieste on embarkation day for those staying in Venice before the cruise. They will pick up in front of the People Mover Station. Does anyone know if there are hotels near the People Mover Station, where we could stay and then just walk over with our luggage? Or will we also require transportation to the Station? Thanks in advance. Linda Conrath
