Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I just saw on reddit that bottled wine per person allowance is also gone? What's the deal?
  2. Thanks, everyone! Very good to know. I am still planning to go to my assigned time dining for most days, but it's good to know that I cannot just change to YTD. I do like that I can still choose to skip my assigned time dining to go to the Lido buffet for those one or two days we might be running late on port days.
  3. I chose a set time for dinner but I'm not 100% sure if my family and I will change our minds or run into a situation where we can't make it to dinner after a long day at a port. What's the flexibility on the set time dinners? Can we just not show up or change to any time dining if we decide to? Or do we need to alert the maitre d in advance? (If so, how early in advance?)
  4. I was looking at the Fun Times newsletter to get an idea of what I'd like to do during my cruise and noticed there are scheduled times for ProPortraits Photo Ops. I understand that there are professional photographers throughout all times of the day snapping photos for you, but are the scheduled photo ops a paid service with specialized backgrounds? I vaguely remember these being called something else, so I'm just confused. Any clarification would be appreciated!
  5. Most hotels, if you ask, will allow a late check-out, which is usually around 12:00 pm or sometimes 1:00 pm. Just ask nicely and explain your situation. At the very least, they will hold your luggage so you can explore the area.
  6. I have already used this offer from my Chase Sapphire Reserve a few months back and received $40 credit. After I saw this post, I've been checking my offers frequently but without any luck. I almost thought I had the offer again today when I saw this (see pic), but realized that it was the offer I had already used and now expired. I never had expired offers show up like this, so it almost got me!
  7. I was looking through the MDR menu and noticed that only specialty coffees are listed and they have cost attached to them. I haven't been on Carnival for many years, but I always thought all coffee, including specialty coffee like cappuccino and latte were free at MDR? Is regular coffee available if you ask?
  8. I'm loving the Halloween photos on the cruise! I'm sailing in October and didn't plan on taking a costume since I'm packing light as possible, but would I feel left out if I didn't dress up?
  9. Thanks all for your responses! They have been very helpful. My flight is around 3:30 PM, which makes it really awkward to lean one way or the other. It's a long time to be waiting at the airport if I end up getting there around 10:30 AM, but not enough time to be exploring especially factoring in 1-2 hours spent on picking up/dropping off the rental. I may just try to hunker down at the airport, but I'm open to other suggestions if anyone has any experience with a 3-4 PM flight out.
  10. My flight back home is in the late afternoon, and I don't want to be stuck at the airport for hours. Since I will either be shuttling or ubering to the airport, I don't have the option to explore the area outside of the port or the airport. (debarking at Port Canaveral and flying out of Orlando Airport, which are an hour drive apart) So I would prefer to have a leisurely morning and get off the ship as LATE as possible, which I heard is around 10 am. However, I read that when you leave your luggage out for standard debarking (rather than self-carry), you're given a group number, which is assigned to a specific debarking time. If I'm assigned to an earlier time for debarkation, can I just ignore it and get off the ship with the last group? If so, would they announce which group is the last debarking group? Will my luggages be safe if I don't debark during my assigned time? ....or would renting a car be a better option overall?
  11. This is my first time using the HUB app and I plan on purchasing the chat feature so that my family and I can keep in touch while on ship. However, I have some questions if anyone can help me out. 1. Does your name show up to all other cruise guests? Can a random cruiser send me a message? 2. Can you chat in a language other than English? (given that my family and I have the specific language installed on our phones)
  12. I'm going on a Carnival cruise with my parents and I've booked a separate room for them. They are added to my hub app (I can see their booking information, their names, can check in for them when the time comes, etc.). However, I'd also like to have them download the hub app before we get on the cruise so they can count down with me, make any purchases if they choose, and also so that we are prepared to use the app immediately once we are on board - things like the chat function or checking the balance on the account. I would like to keep my access to their booking since I want to check them in, fund their S&S account, etc. But is there a way for them to each download the hub and see their booking as well?
