  1. This is a novel suggestion, a continuous "OOOOoooooommmmmm,......OOOOOOoooommmmm", something peaceful against offensive music. Unless they are a dedicated spiritual specialist, they will not be able to handle more than 29 minutes. I know, my wife used to use the CD for meditation. This will definitely extinguish any party fires or residual burning embers. It is one big lullaby. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜Œ๐Ÿ˜ช๐Ÿคค๐Ÿ˜ด
  2. I would argue but I would have to bring in musical experts and your theories might be somewhat persuasive. Your Honor, I would like to withdraw my penalty flag for lack of clear and concise evidence to contradict these particular observations and statements. ๐Ÿค
  3. Whoa, got to throw the musical flag on that comment for flagrant comparison of voices being similar (I know your goal was to gather major musical irritation for public consumption)! ๐Ÿ˜ต Bagpipes, while irritating to some, have a special white-noise all of their own and will in most cases, after hours of exposure, put a baby to sleep with their constant base tonal components. Your ears and brain can gently get immune to the vibrations. Whitney, well, she had some pipes that most singers would hope to have and I think my statement about singing to babies is very similar but I give a one hour exposure and they are sound asleep. I gotta give Whitney her due. Yoko Ono Songs, OK, I will watch the replay monitor and speakers. In most cases, I WILL pick up my musical penalty flag. I do not think there are arguments I can make against throwing the flag and most babies will probably not sleep for weeks after exposure. ๐Ÿ˜‡
  4. Unfortunately, just sounds like the computer systems are overloaded with queries. This has been documented on many occasions in the past on a monthly basis. Nothing any user can do except what @Biker19stated. Wait a bit and try again, if you do not succeed, rinse, repeat, and try again. ๐Ÿ˜
  5. This summarizes the idea of my multiple posts on this thread. We either deal with it or stop cruising on RCI. At this time, I will keep cruising but the threshold of when I stop will be getting closer with reports like yours. You are not alone in your evaluation of the situation and I have three cruises planned next year. The results might be a breaking point for future reservations if they reflect your experiences. Thank you for a well balanced, thoughtful post.
  6. I can see you at the security checkpoint: "What's in the case?" "A trombone." "Do you play the trombone?" "No, but with enough practice, maybe someday." "Would you please come with us and tell us the real reason you are bringing a trombone aboard today?" "Sometimes people annoy me with loud boom boxes and rude behavior onboard and this is my way of protesting their behaviors." The two agents like Joe Friday and Frank Gannon on Dragnet stare at each other and dryly say, "That sound reasonable but please to not attempt to play it until you are onboard ship, have a nice day."
  7. You know how the 1930s gangsters used violin cases, my imagination runs wild over what you could pack into a trombone case. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿคฃ I know nothing.(Hogan's Heros, Sargent Schultz.)
  8. About 15 seats around the bar that had a view of 240 degrees aft if I remember correctly. It was the first place we went to after getting our cabin settled for a sail away view. VERY unique. I remember that staircase well because I liked the wood hand rails and trim.
  9. In 1990, my wife and I cruised with around 900 passengers. Very intimate ship, as someone said earlier, it was like a pocket cruiser. It was my 2nd cruise after my 1988 10 night honeymoon cruise on Nordic Prince, another great ship. That November on the Nordic Prince, we bounced around a hurricane for about two days of rough water. Both ships had twin screw constant speed variable pitch propellers, twin rudders, bow thrusters with wing stabilizers. Never had a tug touch us on both ships. We did use tenders on some ports of call. the mosaic in the Nordic Prince main dining room had a Camelot theme.
  10. Referring to my earlier post #40 on this thread, I think you will win your battles but lose the war. I do not think RCI cares about policy if it comes before profits. Until cruisers stop cruising, buying premium Unlimited Drink and Dining packages, poor behavior will be tolerated. Until corporate makes a strong internal statement to all concerned parties and follows it with financial incentives, nothing is going to happen. How many times have you read about staff actions or witnessed staff being afraid to confront customers for fear of not getting a "10" on their evaluations? Worse yet, they might get a are very specific complaint which management does not back the employee trying to enforce policy. Management wants the policies enforced unless until affects them or their bottom-line. Chair hog policies are in place but corporate does not really care about them or there would be no chair hogs. You are right, I would not tolerate teachers who are not enforcing policy in a fair and consistent manner. Big difference, children are mandated to go to school. They have no choice and are at the mercy of the system they attend. I voluntarily choose to cruise and at some point, might voluntarily stop If I do not think the total experience is worth my time and money. I have read my cruise documents and RCI has all of the power and I have few rights to appeal what I deem "an unfair action". In the end, if I am really dissatisfied, I stop cruising. Guess what? There are more than enough bodies to take my place, just look at the cruise price fares going up, capacities going up, drink prices going up, gratuities going up, ....you get my drift. RCI could care less if I never cruise with them again. They have all these new cruisers spending more money to take my place. Again, please read my #40 post because we might be thinking the same way from different directions. I want policies to be enforced. I just think the profits are now overtaking experienced cruisers' expectations. Eventually, the cruise lines will need to decide whether they want me to continue cruising or transition my cabin to ill-behaved but higher profit cruisers. Unfortunately, I believe RCI will choose the latter.
  11. Private sector experience, emergency response experience (ongoing, still working), military and law enforcement experience have taught me otherwise. Sometimes you have to evaluate the situation and regroup considering many variables. I have witnessed so many mundane situations go sideways without much provocation. It can get ugly fast. Events can quickly spiral out-of-control. Everyone has different comfort levels about confrontation. Sometimes, you will find that management does not want to address these issues. Life seems to have changed and sometimes not for the better in my opinion. I can respect someone for taking one-step back and finding their own comfort zone.
  12. Only if unlimited high quality Canadian bacon was available 24/7. One๐Ÿคช of Canada's best exports. ๐Ÿ˜‹
  13. ๐Ÿคฃ Oh my goodness, I would love to be the forth party hearing your third party comments ๐Ÿ˜‚. I could make a "party" line call! For all of you youngins, you have to watch the "Beverly Hillbillies" sponsored by Kellogg of Battlecreek in black and white TV in the early 1960s. Grammy use to love 'party line' calls where she could listen and eavesdrop on her neighbors. I have no wish for any more drama than I currently have in life.๐Ÿ˜
  14. Very astute observation and evaluation regarding cruise length and behavior. Maybe this is becoming the transition process where cruisers who are older transition from the cruise vacations. I still want to cruise, do not interpret this post as "I will never cruise again" nonsense. Maybe RCI has hit a conversion point where the Megaships are specifically aimed for that new younger high end spending crowd (high end profits like the drink and dining packages) where the profits will be in the future. I heard corporate estimates that for every 'pre-cruise dollar spent', their are another '0.71 dollars spent'. Translation, that young cruiser couple spends $1,400 on one cabin two person pre-cruise drink package with another $700 of onboard expenditures resulting in a whopping $2,100 dollars on top of cabin and gratuities. They just spent more than I would on my cruise just on additional packages and onboard purchases. I have the feeling that I will be priced out soon and RCI will just treat it as collateral damage as they transition to the future. Just some thoughts to ponder ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿคจ.
  15. Thank you for the affirmation that I was not having "an episode". ๐Ÿ˜ You comment was about something we lived through in the 1970s. I smiled when I read it.
  16. The iron was powered by "dilithium crystals." A copyrighted trademark of the Star Trek series. Any copyright infraction creates an automatic system shutdown. A cease and desist legal order will be following shortly.
  17. Great, every time I hear a fellow passenger in the MDR say Soylent Green, I have to get my cell phone ready to turn on the external light ๐Ÿ™„. No Soylent Green for you too! ๐Ÿ˜‚
  18. I thought surge protectors were suppose to keep an overload from happening. My bad. ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿคฃ
  19. I have read many threads but I never went to the casinos. I was never a gambler. Now I know a sure bet. ๐Ÿ˜
  20. As the most junior officer of the deck sulks off and mumbles, "Why do I always have to go down fifteen decks of the stairs (elevators are not working) and replace the fuse?" ๐Ÿคจ
  21. A black-out by any name is not good...., especially when you cannot remember it the next day and the cruise line acts like it is a normal and acceptable part of cruising. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
