  1. I firmly believe in the Dave Ramsey envelope system. I have a spreadsheet of all anticipated expenses. Close to sail date, I put cash in labeled envelopes for each event. A taxi that cost $16 would have a $10, $5 and $1. But it would also have an extra $4 for tip. Room service has twenty $1 bills. And so forth.

Everything that we need cash for is like this. What can I say? I am anal. The envelope packet tends to get pretty bulky with a lot of $1 for different things. I just was trying to make it a little less bulky. A ton of $1's has worked before. And it will again.

We do the same thing!! We have envelopes and put cash in them, then bring the envelopes with us and put in the safe on the ship. We start saving early as it's easier for us.

  2. We are cruising on Oasis this summer and flying in the day before, getting a shuttle (not booked yet) and heading to Cocoa Beach area. There are six of us and still researching a place to stay for the night. Is there a Total Wine or another store to buy wine in the Cocoa Beach area? Thanks!!

  3. We will be flying into Orlando and cruising out of Port Canaveral this summer. Hope to stay over night in the Cocoa Beach area (have not booked any hotels yet). Which Total Wine would be easier to get to? Thinking of taking a shuttle to Cocoa Beach. Still in the planning stage.

  4. How was the food in mdr, buffet, solarium cafe?

We are going on grandeur early 2017, trying her because we were on anthem and food and service were poor jan 2016, although we enjoyed the ship. Bad reviews continue for anthem, looking forward to the old school Grandeur.

We always take a very small travel alarm clock w/ batteries, keep it with our cruise stuff, and those little tea lights led with batteries, as we cruise often and book interiors, unless we get free upgrade.

Thanks for info, also was there any Zumba, dancing, etc?

Never thought of battery operated candles to see in the cabin during the night. Would still need clock to see the time. Thanks for another thought...

  5. If the clock is an older type with an electric motor, it won't keep the right time on the ship because the ship's generators don't produce the frequency the clock needs for accurate time.

I'd either bring a battery operated clock, use your cell phone (set to manual timekeeping), or the TV channel with the ship's info.

The clock is new as of last month. Might just use the TV channel instead, one less thing to remember.

    Thanks Bob

  6. Okay, this is a weird question but.... we are going on Grandeur in a few weeks!!! :D Have an inside cabin and it will be dark with no way of knowing what time of day or night it is while sleeping. Can we bring an electric clock (plug into outlet, no batteries) to use? So we know what time it is, 12 noon or 12 midnight... :o As I recall the cabins don't have clocks in them. Thanks in advance...
