Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We just returned from the Star Pride and tested positive for COVID when we got home. We felt a little under the weather the last day and didn't really suspect COVID until we were home and started feeling a little flu-ish (never got worse than that). So, we were obviously COVID-positive on the cruise--- apologies to our fellow passengers! I'm just curious, if we had felt symptoms earlier in the trip and had reported them to the ship doctor, would we have been quarantined? Honestly, given the number of people with wet, phlegmy coughs on board, I suspect there was a lot of COVID going around, and while it would have been ethical to isolate, it would also seem a bit unfair given the number of people who were obviously sick and not isolating.
  2. I just noticed that my Caribbean/San Juan cruise has dropped price by half. This gave me a crazy idea. What if I cancelled the cruise and then re-booked? Per Windstar's terms, I should receive 50% back at this date. But I also have travel insurance through Windstar that includes a "cancel for any reason credit" that says I will get back, as a future cruise credit, 90% of the cruise cost that is otherwise non-refundable. So, less some cancellation fees and a re-purchase of travel insurance, I could wind up with the same cruise but also have a hefty future cruise credit. Has anybody tried this? I feel like I'm overlooking some technicality...
