  1. Hello, I just booked my first cruise on NCL for February. I purchased the Free At Sea Package. I see there is a few hundred dollar charge for gratuities which I was aware of. As I'm looking at my account it says you can prepay a service charge of $20 dollars a day per person per room. It says this service charge of $280 will be automatically added to your onboard account. Is the service charge different than the gratuities in the Free At Sea and I would need to pay that also?
  2. US site showing the same.. I just booked 2 days ago with a $150 Cruise First. I wonder if they would allow me to change it.
  3. I just booked my first cruise on NCL through a PCC. He offered me a $300 certificate for $150 that I could use for my deposit.
  4. Ok I take it back the NCL rep just called me and saved me a fair amount of cash.. LOL.
  5. I think I read Ubers are plentiful and easy to get?
  6. We were planning on just staying by the airport since that's where the NCL shuttle pick up is. But then I started thinking about not using the NCL shuttle.
  7. Yeah the Princess one is very good.. almost makes me want to switch to them.
  8. I finally made the decision to book on the Breakaway. Thursday evening I had put a hold on both cruises and planned on putting a deposit on the Breakaway today. After putting them on hold both companies called me and left me VME's. They also emailed me. I had a few questions and the email from the NCL PCC said not to finish booking until I talked to him. I have emailed and called both of my consultants and the Princess consultant is very fast and getting back with me. I even called Princess customer assistance center they said I can leave my number and they will call me back. They called me back immediately. I have emailed my NCL PCC 1 time and called him twice since Friday and he has never called me back and he told me not to book until I talk to him. The hold expires today. His VME says he works 11-4 on both Saturday and Sunday yet crickets from NCL. I am disappointed because I had decided on NCL but if they won't even call me back to finish the sale, I am worried about what kind of assistance will I get once they have my money. So bottom line is Princess's service has impressed me and NCL has been non-existent ugh.
  9. Hi, My wife and I are flying in a day early for our NCL Breakaway cruise. NCL is charging us $100 total for a shuttle to and from MSY for our cruise. Seems reasonable but since we are coming in a day early, we will need to Uber to our hotel and then back to the airport the next day to pick up the shuttle. I am wondering if it just makes more sense to cancel the NCL transport and Uber back and forth to the cruise port.
  10. Is the window to request the deviation from the time I am paid in full until 75 days prior to the cruise. I assume I can't request a deviation when I just have a deposit down?
  11. Ok so my plan will be to get a 1 day deviation. Rent a room at an airport hotel that has a shuttle to and from. I see quite a few at a reasonable price. Although what is the $25 credit for?
  12. So they will book me on a flight a day earlier for the same price and give me a $25 credit? Is that credit for the transfer to the port?
  13. Thank you, is there no additional cost for rebooking the flight a day earlier?
  14. How much does a 1 day deviation typically cost?
  15. Any issues with long wait times for dinner or the buffet being overcrowded on the Breakaway?
  16. Ugh, for some reason I just assumed Princess customer service would be much better than NCL.
  17. It was a 7 night cruise on the Meraviglia out of Orlando. I thought being mid February, it would not have a lot of kids but it was packed using the pools was impossible. My wife works for the school and she typically has mid winter break the week of Presidents day. I found out that a lot of schools across the country are also off that week. Hallux also mentioned that. That's why I'm leaning towards Princess.
  18. Thanks, I am heavily leaning towards Princess. I like to have internet when I need it and I believe NCL limits that to 150 minutes in their package. I'm also probably booking flights through the line and it looks like EZair gets much better reviews than NCL.
  19. The Prima was my first choice but it leaves on a Friday the 17th. My wife is an educator and her break starts on the 18th. I asked her if she could take the Friday off and she said she doubts it.
  20. My wife works for the school system in Michigan and it is midwinter break here for some schools. That's why we are going that week and will probably push me more towards Princess and hope for the best. We did an MSC cruise at the same time last year and it was packed with kids.
  21. Princess leaves from Galveston, NCL from NOLA. Flights are basically the same.
  22. Hello, My wife and I are in our late 50's and trying to decide between these 2 ships for a western Caribbean cruise in February. This will be our 3rd cruise and we have never cruised these lines. We like good food, a relaxed environment, the opportunity for lots of activities, so the freestyle cruising of NCL appeals to us. We would also prefer not having a ton of kids over running the ship and being able to occasional use the pools so Princess appeals to us there. We will be getting either the free at sea or plus package. The prices are the same. The itineraries are very similar. Princess making 3 stops with NCL making 4 stops one of which is Harvest Caye. We think we would really enjoy the private island. No private island for Princess. My concern with NCL is that it will be too packed with kids and we will never be able to enjoy the pools. Also, I've read that NCL has made a lot of cuts and may not be as nice as it was in the past. My concern with Princess is it may be too stodgy and lots of older people (people my age lol) and a little boring, plus no private island. I would like to just compare the base cruise so no Haven or Sanctuary, thanks. I have also posted this on the NCL forum.
