Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Thank you so much Roger! I wish every port had someone like you to help plan!! Are there any tapa places you think visitors MUST try? It’s my last question I promise 🥹
  2. Hi Roger, We are planning on going to this beach club thanks to your suggestion! I noticed you said you can take a taxi here for 10-12 euros, but you stated in this post that there is a cheap bus that takes you back into town. Is it possible to take this bus to the beach as well? Where is the pick up spot? Thanks so much 🙂
  3. What is the best way to get to Cassis? Train or ferry?
  4. I have a bit of a silly question, but I emailed italytours.eu and they have 2 spots available on the day we want to do a tour. They emailed asking for my name and cruise ship etc and said they will "bill me asap". That was yesterday and haven't heard from them today. They haven't taken any credit card info so I'm not sure how they bill me. I'm just getting anxious because I really want this tour! lol. Do they send a secure link thru their email or?
  5. Hi everyone, I’m struggling to plan my hop on/off bus route while timing it appropriately with the activities I want to do. I’m not doing a guided tour because we wanted to save money at this port. For example, we want to see the Sagrata and Park Guell but you need to pick a specific time to go. I don’t know how long it’ll take me to get to either location while on the bus so I have no idea what times to pick for these activities. Does anyone have any tips? I’ve read you need to buy these tickets in advanced so I don’t think I can just show up and count on a ticket being available for me. Thank you!
  6. Posting here just to add my offer for information's sake. I'm going on a 7 night Mediterranean cruise May 11th. I bought my drink package when it was at 61.99 per day, it's now at 66.99 per day. I doubt it will drop any further but Imma keep checking lol
  7. I got this option today for my cruise in May. Not sure if I want to do it or not though as I already have a nice room in a really good location. I kind of want to bid 75 dollars for one of the suites just in case but I doubt I would ever get that 😂😂
  8. Hey everyone, I signed into my account today and was given the option to bid on my cruise leaving May 11th. I didn't know this was an option until now. As of right now there is no "minimum bid", the scale just says "no offer to xyz price", is this likely to change once people start bidding? We are already in a large ocean view balcony room, and we really didn't want to spend any more on this cruise. If I were to offer something insanely small like 50-75 dollars per person, do I have a shot? LOL or just not bother. And I read somewhere its better to bid later vs earlier. Any tips/tricks?
  9. Hi everyone, I'm going on a Mediterranean cruise on Symphony of the Seas in May. I already purchased the deluxe drink package, and I signed into my RC account to see if there were any better offers on the drink packages. When I click "beverages" it just says "Amazing experiences coming soon. Please check back later to see what’s available for your cruise." It also says this with excursions. The only thing I can look at is photo packages... Has this happened to anyone else? My cruise has been a bit wonky online as it's an interport cruise but I've been able to see excursions and drink package offers for the past few weeks.
  10. Thank you for this. I'm not so much concerned about missing shows as I know they plan them around the dining time, but I'm worried about missing night activities (for example family feud, some other game show or any other fun activity that's going on during dinner around 8-9pm). Did you find you missed out on those activities? Maybe you didn't care to see them anyways, but I think they sound fun!
  11. Hi everyone, I'm going on Symphony of the Seas in May and the set dining options are 6pm or 830pm. I don't think we want to bother with my time dining. But I don't know which dining time is better. Looking for some advice from experienced cruisers. It's a Mediterranean cruise and I think 6pm may be too early as we're at some ports pretty late and I don't want to be rushing back for dinner. I'm leaning more towards the 830pm time but I've looked at some cruise compasses (from 2018 mind you) and it looks like they have fun stuff activities going on at that time such as family feud or other games. I know they schedule the actual shows around both early and late dining but I'm worried we would miss the fun games that go on around that time (it didn't look like they did those activities any earlier, usually around 8-9pm). Some pros and cons I've thought of: Early pros: -get dinner out of the way and can do whatever you want for the whole night -could go to buffet after dinner if you're still hungry Early cons: -more kids likely to be at this time -may have to rush to make this dinner after getting back on the ship -may miss the boat leaving the port which is fun to watch -will be missing the last hours of sunlight on the cruise as it's in May and sun probably sets around 830 Late pros: -less kids at this time -get to watch the ship set sail -get more daylight on the deck of the ship Late cons: -may miss fun activities going on that night -may be hungry and ruin dinner by going to buffet or eating snacks prior -will have to go to late shows even if tired from the day, or miss them altogether HELP ME lol I think the main issue is I'm worried we'll miss some activities going on at night if we choose the late dining option. Any experiences with this? Thank youuuuu!
  12. Thank you! That's what I was thinking as well. Just wasn't sure if other people had the same experience/thoughts. Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought I would drink more on a Caribbean cruise vs. Mediterranean. Unless the drink package goes on sale any further (unlikely) then I won't be buying it, I don't think. Thank you for this. I knew the drink packages have tax I just wasn't sure about the individual drinks, but it looks like the 14 USD includes taxes, and then you have 18% gratuities on top.
  13. Hi, I'm aware of the 18% grats, but are there also taxes on top of grats?
  14. Hi everyone, I'm going on my first cruise in 8 years in May. It's on Symphony of the Seas out of Rome May 11th. I am a diamond member (thanks to my parents taking me on so many cruises when I was young lol). But this time I'm going with my bf who isn't a diamond member. We don't live together so we can't share my status. We are planning on splitting my 4 free drinks each day between the two of us. But I am seriously struggling to determine whether we should get a drink package. The offer I'm getting right now online is $61.99 per day (total $511pp), which I understand is a good offer... it's just a lot of money to pay right now when we just dropped a couple thousand on the cruise and flights etc. I don't see us drinking more than 6 drinks per day. Maybe 7 the odd time. But it's a European cruise so most days we will be off the boat all day. We would be buying 4 out of the 6 due to our 2 free drinks each. My main question is how much are the drinks on board? I know most are $14 USD plus 18% gratuity, but I haven't been able to find anywhere online whether you also have to pay taxes or not. Without taxes, the drink package doesn't really make sense for us if we're only getting 4 extra drinks. But if there are taxes on top of everything, then it actually may be worth it. Very close call lol. So just wondering if anyone has any insight here. Also just looking for any advice overall. I think if we we're going on a Caribbean cruise I would be more inclined to purchase it as we'd likely spend more time on the boat, but how much do you guys usually drink from like 5pm onwards? I'm thinking 2 drinks once we get back on, 2 during dinner, 2 during a show.. I don't want to be hungover for the next day. We also only have 1 day at sea for the whole cruise, and will likely be trying drinks on land. As for other beverages, I don't care for any juice, coffee or bottled water. I am planning on bringing a reusable water bottle and filling it up with free water. Just very conflicted as we definitely enjoy drinking a lot on vacation, but not sure how our busy schedule will influence that.. also not sure about the whole taxes situation. Thanks so much!
