  1. same here! Looking forward to tomorrows Glacier Bay thread to see how the conditions are 😁
  2. yup thats correct, planning on taking a taxi although I could've sworn I read theres some shuttle service that goes to the airport from the docks as well. Costco pricing was very cheap so paying for that cab ride is fine and still cheaper than other rentals and/or excursions for us.
  3. Found a great deal on a car rental in Juneau (thank you Costco) and we will be there from 1-10. I know about Mendenhall Glacier and Glacier Gardens but anything else we should add to our list to adventure to? Is there by chance a driving app like Shaka Guide? That would be most ideal! We love local food spots so any hidden gems would be great to know about too. Want to maximize the car rental since we will have the car for close to 8 hours.
  4. Everytime I think about this topic I think its important for everyone to re-educate themselves on the history of tipping and how we as humanity came to this point. There was a point in time where all employees were paid fairly. It was not until groups of people felt the need to pay more for services which led to the tipping culture we have today. If nobody tipped back in the day we would not have this current culture today. So while I applaud those who feel the need to tip above the pre-paid gratuities keep in mind the more you tip the more likely gratuities are going to go up for the rest of the us. Tipping started and became mandatory only because others felt the need to tip when it was purely not necessary. Now we all see that "extra tip line" on any receipt we get. So the more we all tip and feel the need to tip more than necessary the more likely we are to get increases in mandatory tipping because we are conveying the message that we can afford to tip more instead of the employer paying more fairly. I am not saying not to tip but I am saying be cautious not to over tip and set the precedent that the bar should be raised. Employers should not feel the need to pay their employees less just because their customers feel the need to tip more. Thats never going to be how fix this issue so everyone gets back to fair pay.
  5. They must go in batches then since I submitted an hour ago and just got approved as well. We leave in 2 weeks too.
  6. its probably an honor system, how many do you think actually turn in their cash tips?
  7. Yup I just saw mine as well and I verified the same day 🙂 . Is this a one time credit or a once a year thing?
  8. wow definitely don't see that there when I click through to add another room lol
  9. is this not something Guest Services on board can take care of by showing them the approval email? Feels like something you can use to leverage getting the credit when on the ship. I also been hearing it takes a few weeks for the credit to apply after verification so who knows. I would still hang on to that email and try on board if all else fails. Their job at the front desk is to make sure you are well taken care of so if its within their power and you are nice it can most likely happen. At least for the cruise I signed up on the price went up so not worth it to cancel and rebook.
  10. any luck on this? Did you need to call in to get them to apply it?
  11. Kids aren't really "free" on the cruise. As soon as you enter in that you have 3rd or 4th passenger the price of passenger 1 and 2 increases. They run those "promotions" on all cruise lines that are family friendly but you see the same thing with the price going up. Its not free to me when you increase the price of passenger 1 and 2 to almost account for the cost of passenger 3.
  12. Is HAL an adults only cruise line? No. So why are there people complaining about this? Feels like those people would be happier on an adults only cruise. You are on vacation just enjoy yourself. If a kid is being rowdy at dinner just tell your waiter at best you get a free meal out of it or the other party gets kicked out. Its quite obvious a lot of their money comes from all the extras so unless you see the kids club and menus going away assume you will see more of it. As a parent I would indeed take my child to a specialty dinner knowing this because my kid won't care for steak he will gladly eat the free mac and cheese and would even prefer it.
