Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. So, you don't like the idea of getting a few hours break from your kids after spending constant time with them? It's not like we won't still be spending a ton of time with her. We will be with her 100% percent of the time at Disney for 3 days and 4 nights leading up until to the cruise. My daughter also wants to play with other kids. Maybe if you have a whole pack and they play together, it's not a factor, but my kid wants to play with other kids. I also an't imagine not wanting some time to spend 1:1 with my spouse, away from my daughter, to relax and nurture the marriage. Whatever floats your boat.
  2. Yes, it will be k-12 April Break.....I would be one of those people. My daughter is an only child and kids for her in the kids club is actually a benefit 🙂
  3. We are very close to booking a 5-night Cozumel/Costa Maya cruise on Mariner for next April. The big question is Junior Suite vs Grand Suite. I would be for me, my wife, and my 6 yo. The price difference is about $1000. Looking at the difference in rooms, that part doesn't seem worth it, but it seems like most the price difference is the concierge services. For those who have experienced that, is it worth it? Here is a little addition info. My vegan. Would dining go smoother with concierge serving setting things up? She also has bad eyesight. We typically pay a lot of money for close seats for concerts and Broadway. Does concierge get you better seats for the shows? Also, I know Junior Suites get preferential boarding, but Grand gets expedited departure. Is that a big deal? Thanks in advance!
  4. Our big motivation for cruising is built in childcare and activities that will keep my 6 yo happy. No Hawaii or Europe for a few years. This year is the big one - staying on resort at Disney, then Disney Wish. I don't think we need, as someone said in another thread, the Disney pixie dust again. My kid much cares about the destinations. My wife cares about destinations and is generally preferring the destinations from the smaller boats.
  5. My wife and I are looking at a bunch of different options for 2024. Seems like itineraries for us that are the most interesting have the older boats, and I'm reading that those are better for adults than kids. Specifically, we are looking at a 7-Day on the Enchantment that hits Belize, Honduras, and Mexico in April or summer cruises to Alaska on Radiance or Brilliance. Our daughter will be about 6 1/2 then. I posted on the general board about Disney vs other lines since we are taking the Wish in June. I'm confidence we would enjoy the medium and larger RC boats I would love some feedback from people who have sailed with younger kids on those ships or similar ones. Bonus if you've done Alaska. How was the experience for the kids? If my kid isn't having fun, we won't have fun.
  6. I suspect Wish will have a lot of WOW compared to the other Disney Ships. That good feedback, though, especially if I'm looking at one of the older Disney Ships vs the newer RC ships.
  7. I can see how that would be a problem with 5.
  8. Do you have kids? The child experience is critical here. If you don't mind me asking, what lines have you enjoyed the most?
  9. Serious question. I am going on my second cruise this June. My first was a Carnival. It will be the first for my wife daughter. We went big this year - combining a trip to Disney with 4 nights on Disney Wish. Royal Caribbean has great looking itinerary for 7 nights for next April out of Tampa to the Mexico and Honduras. Disney also has a great looking 5 night Mexico cruise out of Galveston. Obviously, there is a MASSIVE price difference, even with 2 fewer nights. Personally, I am fine adjusting my expectations, but I'm a little afraid that my wife would be really let down after having her first experience on the Wish. The upside is that the itinerary are so good. So, people who have cruised Disney, have you been able to back to a cruise like RC and really enjoy yourself? Bonus points if you can comment on dining options for vegans on RC. Disney's legendary customer service is part of the reason we decided to do the Wish.
  10. The cruises that could work for us are the next week - Feb 16-21 or Feb 21-26. It will depend of how school vacation falls. We would only be looking to do 2 extra days in NOLA, most likely on the front end. Are hotel price still higher past Mardi Gras?
  11. This looks a like really cool trip. We've never been to New Orleans. I've been to Cozumel and Playa. I'm a big fan of that area, and I know Progreso is fairly new to the cruise game. Compared to our Wish cruise, it seems VERY affordable. From what I am reading, even the though the Magic is much smaller, people love the boat. Thoughts?
  12. This is exactly what we are doing. After our last trip with a 4.5 yo, we decided we needed something more kid-focus with childcare. We decided on 3 days at Disney, followed by 4 days on the Wish.
