  1. Love: the planetarium on the QM2/ grills dining

Hate: forcing people with some limited mobility ( even if only using canes or small scooter ) to only book a handicapped room when it is not needed and thus severly limiting your cabin choices!

Change: offer more short destinations from NYC, like bermuda or carribean, rather than TA.

  2. If you do not wish to follow Cunard's dress code, simply choose another line. Its that simple. End of discussion. Why do people go on and on about the injustice of it all. Carnival cruise awaits! I also cruise Carnival when I want to go cheap and casual.

  3. My last short 5 day trip to Halifax was during hurricane Ernesto. Spent the evening having martinis in the commordore club while ship was rocking. By day 2, weather was fine to enjoy the balcony. Room service menu had plenty of selections. Heck, it was adventurous and fun even sitting out in the storm. Since I cant take 2 weeks off in my job for a TA, dont have to pay for both trips, any no plane fare, I was still saving money, even if fare was pricey. I dont recall library hours on port day since I spent that day at the Maritime Museum in Halifax. Weather can always be unpredictable, no matter where you cruise. Any trip on QM2 is great.

  4. Jeffrey, I beg to differ with the others. I have been on the 5 day cruise to Halifax ( September 2008) in the past and will be on the july 2015 cruise. It was fabulous! Since it will be summer, opt for a balcony cabin. You can enjoy meals on your deck, and watch the stars at night. I am planning a trip to Peggys Cove in Halifax this time, but may skip Boston and enjoy the amenities in the Spa area, the Library, swimming, and taking photos. There will be 2 good lecturers on this cruise. If you book before 2.28.15 you can get perks from the 175th anniversary package deal. And since I am 3 hrs from NYC, no plane fare involved. Whatever you decide, you wont be disappointed.

  5. I am also going on the 5 day cruise july 2015. I previously went on a 5 day cruise on the qm2 in 2008. There were 2 formal nights. Formal wear is for dinner but other than that "smart casual" in the other venues seemed fine. That was one of the best cruises I ever experienced and cant wait to sail on her again.

  6. Your suggestion is well taken. I should have contacted the special needs team to argue my point. This is a short cruise that had few cabins left (I did not want inside or oceanview) and was anxious to secure a nice cabin.

There was one PG left so I jumped on it. Next time I will want to book a balcony cabin on a transatlantic and will be more forceful if need be. I would never consider being so thoughtless as to leave a scooter in someones path or hallway. Some people ruin it for all.

  7. obviously your scooter/chair can absolutely not ever stay in the hallway and must fitthru the cabin door. That said, I have a scooter because I can walk only short distances and will then be unable to walk back to my cabin on such a long ship. My scooter fits fine thru all doors as I have been in a balcony room aboard qm2 before. Now, Im told I must have a handicapped room whether the scooter fits or not. just the fact that you have a mobility handicap. I was told that even if I just had crutches, they would insist on a handicapped room,?? furthermore, they said no upgrades for handicapped persons with accessible cabins! I was forced to get a princess cabin as there were no available balcony rooms. so I had to pay double or not take my cruise. I did not force the issue.

  8. BlueRiband, You have Regina Nervosa, too!! I, alas, was also diagnosed with this terrible afflication, but can not receive treatment until July 30, 2015 with my measly 5 day trip to Halifax. Hopefully I may get some relief with your postings. Good Health and Happy Sailing!

  9. Is there a different room service menu for princess grill cabin?

Can you get a late night Pizza delivery to your room?

How late is Kings Court open? What is available there late nights?

Would it be inappropriate to ask in advance for a special dinner item such as Lobster Thermidor, or a special dessert item in the Princess Grill Dining Room.? Thank you!
