  1. Thanks everyone. I mentioned the cab, because it was brought (many times in this forum) that everyone and their "dog" will be waiting for the shuttle and it was faster for the 5 minute cab ride than the 30-45 minutes for a shuttle to take you back.

But I guess it all depends on how busy they are the day of the cruise.

We used Avis and the shuttle to the port was pretty nice. Saved cab fare and it was as quick as a cab. Guess it comes down to timing...

  2. I think there is plenty of other things to do. We enjoy just walking around and exploring. Dragons Rock is pretty cool. There is sand volleyball. Plenty of hammocks. The buffet, (it's been good and bad on our visits). It's a good place to do some snorkeling as well. Not a lot to see, but a good place to try it if you haven't before or it's been a while.

We'll be there in January too, we are on the Jan. 19th sailing!

  3. I bet it sells out quickly. We live in Sun City Hilton Head and there are always lots of Steeler Fans in the fall. I think there is a sports bar in Hilton Head that is pure Steelers. I'm still a fan even though I left the Pgh. area in 1967.

I live in Kansas City, Mo and work across the state line in Kansas. There are a couple huge Steeler fan clubs in the area. I also think that the price of this cruise is crazy!

My wife suggests that Steeler Nation organize it's own cruise. Not a charter, but a cruise that we decide to fill up with Steeler fans. She herself is not a fan, but she realizes how big Steeler Nation is!

  4. Guess I am in the minority, I would not mind an overnight stay at Labadee at all. Once they include off ship activities like beach party, BBq's etc. You can even have an early morning swim in the lovely Caribbean sea before breakfast.

As others have said I dont see it ever happening and I think safety will be the main reason. Can you imagine drunks swimming all over the peninsular (labadee is not an island) at all hours of night

I've mentioned that to my wife several times. We always get off the ship at Labadee as early as possible and we are usually in the last groups to head back to the ship. I'd be fine with 2 days.

  5. Guys,

Slightly off topic but I will get a look at your team in action when I attend my first NFL game at Wembley London in September.

My wife and I both turn 50 this year and decided we would book a trip to London with each of us choosing a day's activities.

She chose some Musical the night before.

    and I

    NFL Steelers v Vikings.

No prizes for guessing which will be the more exciting day?

    That's awesome!

  6. That's really cool you're so close to training camp and get to go see them.

We've had a few Ben sightings since he married a girl from New Castle...

I see you used to live in Haymarket - we were just there this past weekend!

Yes! I proudly bragged about Ben's wife being from New Castle. My wife wasn't impressed (Chiefs fan :p)

  7. Just heard on the news tonight about a chartered Pgh Steelers cruise. March 10-15, 2014 on the Brilliance out of Tampa.

Of course it's not on the RC website - you have to book through a private website. It's priced high, but these specialty cruises usually are higher due to the personalities and entertainment onboard.

We are big Steeler fans and would find sailing with some of those listed, including singers, would be so much fun!

No way! Huge Steelers fan. Grew up in New Castle, PA. Transplanted to Kansas City, but Steeler Nation is everywhere. Where do I found out the details on this cruise?
