  1. Not worth the calories? Not worth the effort. Contrary to all the Slocombe lovers, in MY opiniion, it is terrible.
  2. Please stop nit picking. Are you an engineer or just like to show how bright you are?. Ours was the only room in the line on both sides that did not have air. Our friends were next door and the air was fine. No open door, no closed drapes. Temp was as high as 90 degrees in the room. Been on many cruises and know the rules. Ship engineers were in to check maybe 25 times without result. They never had a conclusion
  3. My TA has been pursuing this since January with no result. They go back and forth without results and are ignored. One more comment. On January 10th at 8PM, the concierge in the lounge called us and offered us a $300 shipboard credit for our problem. We were leaving the ship at 8AM on the 11th. Almost impossible to find a way to spend this. So we asked if we could apply this amount to our next cruise in March. He called back and said that the company would not.
  4. Thanks! FYI, we have contacted Oceania several times, both during the cruise and since we have been home, and they have not replied. We have asked our travel agent to contact them also. It seems that they feel that if they do not answer, you will forget it. We are not one time cruisers and have over 20 Oceania cruises. We have five cruises booked with them. I think that because we are loyal Oceania guests, the fact that they ignored us, adds to the issue.
  5. This is my final post on this topic and never ending answers. How did we know they had extra cabins? After complaining every day for 36 days of a 39 day cruise and being told that the ship was full and here is a fan to compensate for the air conditioner not working properly, on day 37 they found a cabin and offered to move us for the remaining three days. A miracle? No! So please stop defending the ship and feel a little compassion for a fellow passenger.
  6. Gee move to another cabin! Why didn't we think of that? We asked for another cabin several times and we were told none were available. Lucky you!!
  7. Nice that you are comfy in room controlled air. Our cabin was 9155 and I can assure you that we did not have any air for 39 days of our cruise. After numerous attempts to fix this, we were given a fan after we said we would sleep in the concierge lounge. Not every one was as lucky as you. If you like, I can send you a picture of the fan. just let me know your email. This is not a small complaint, but a valid one after you pay twenty something thousand dollars for a room that should have everything functioning properly.
  8. Deja vu! We were on the Marina in a concierge room on a cruise from Miami to Buenos Aires Dec 23 to Jan 24. Our air conditioner did not work either. After many attempts to fix this, they gave us a fan. Never fixed this issue.
  9. We were on the same June cruise. Noticed that the food in GDR was not quite the same. Now on this new Dec/Jan cruise food just was not good. We also have started eating in the other venues, not because it is quicker, but because, for some reason, it is better. We are not reviewing any other food venue on Marina. All are good. It is just the GDR that we have noticed a steady decline and have opted to eat as little as we can. Going on Vista in March and expect to have a great time. I think that the problem is unique and only on the Marina.
  10. Sorry my wife is a great cook and her food is usually better than the Grand Dining Room.
  11. This is a very good point and I will bring up something that I really did not want to do initially. Last year we were on the Nautica and Toscana just was not as great as it usually is. The chef from Toscana on that cruise was made the head chef of the Grand Dining Room on Marina on this past cruise. So it is possible that the new head chef on Marina has had a direct influence on the food, service etc. on the Marina.
  12. I knew that my comment would cause an uproar!. The cruise we just were on was the 39 day Marina to Buenos Aires. We have been cruising with Oceania since 2008, so I feel that we are qualified to make a meaningful comment. This was not a complaint, merely an observation. All the other food venues are great!. The past few years we have noticed that the Grand Dining Room food has not been up to past cruises, and that is our opinion. Not sour grapes. For most of you who have not sailed on Oceania for several years, you probably do not notice the changes that have been made since NCL took over. They are subtle, but nevertheless, they have changed the "original" Oceania. The food in the Grand Dining Room has definitely declined. It is not the same. The quality is not the same. The operation is not the same and the meals are more like NCL than Oceania. Again, this is my opinion and you can "make jokes", criticize etc. This is a forum in which topics are to be discussed and opinions to be offered, not to attack people. We all have different ideas and no one is more right than the other. So if a topic is started on this site, please stick to the issue which was "Has the Food in the Grand Dining Room Changed."
  13. Anyone else notice that the food has just not been as good in the main dining rooms? Just got off a 39 day cruise on Marina and found that the quality has declined, the taste is not the same, the food is served cold and the portion size has decreased. We had a steak that we could not cut, chicken Kiev that could not be sliced into, every soup served cold, every egg at breakfast served overdone and cold. We were forced to eat in the Terrace for breakfast to get a properly cooked egg. Very disappointing!
  14. Never saw such "bunch of babies" saying their ice cream is better than yours. We all have opinions. You may like this ice cream, but there are equally many people, including me, who think it is terrible. I actually asked one of the crew to taste it and they spit it out. So if you like it, fine. If you do not also fine. Stop belaboring the issue. There are more important things than whose ice cream is best.
  15. Tries all flavors. Terrible. Not a premium ice cream. Should have Haagen Daas instead
  16. Wow a lot of mixed responses. Let me clarify when we sailed on the Insignia Dec 2022, we sailed for 30 days Dubai to Cape Town. The food in the main dining room for breakfast and lunch was fine. Dinner was just not good. No taste, cold and not of the quality we were used to. Toscana was just not good. The octopus was not the same as before. The dover sole was over salted and inedible. The tomato sauces tasted like it was out of a can. Just did not taste like the Italian food of the past. In Polo the steaks had so much fat, you cut away more than you ate.. Waves sandwiches were totally different and not as good. For example, the Rueben had roast beef instead of corned beef. Not a Rueben. The Cuban had mystery meat, not the usual. When we sailed in June on the Marina, the specialty restaurants seemed back to normal. However, the main dining room was still not good for dinner. I asked several of the staff why? They all seemed to sheepishly say that Oceania was now using Norwegian's supply chain. That could very well be a reason. The ships also ran out of some food items, like blueberries, strawberries, decaf tea etc. That is also a supply chain problem In my opinion, there is a definite difference in the food products. Maybe not all, but many, and it tastes like it. Another possibility is that the smaller ships do not have the same quality chefs in the restaurants, and it definitely shows. It is also possible that there are many new cruisers who did not experience the food of yesterday, and have only the current reference. The reason I waited so long to post, as one responder asked, it that I was waiting for a response from Oceania to my questions and surveys. None ever came.
  17. Food has definitely changed for the worse since the end of covid. We sailed on Nautica, 30 days December 2022, and the food in the main dining room was just not good. The food in Toscana definitely was not the same as before, and even different than Toscana on Marina. Maybe, Oceania has started to use the Norwegian supply line, maybe the quality of the products are not as good, but there is a definite change. We will sail again in December 2023 for 39 days on the Marina and we hope that they have improved the food. I know that many will say that the food is great, but we have sailed on Oceania since 2008 and are certainly qualified to comment about this.
