  1. Or the brig. They do have one after all. 😉
  2. I don't think they can do that legally. They need to follow GEA practices and, if they don't, the IRS will be all over them. Especially as they use CA to supplement salaries -- that they have to pay according to contracts. So where is that money coming from if they don't put CA from the packages into the pool?
  3. Oh, I believe they have their own contract. I just think it's largely the same and includes getting money from the pool in the form of bonuses. I don't think Princess would put on their website that bar staff gets money from the pool if it's not true.
  4. That happens at airports and hotels too. I hate it.
  5. Bartenders work in the bar. How can they not be included?
  6. We pack the night before. But dh does the laundry that morning so that all our clothes are clean when we start packing. And I've been working on the packing list for months. We don't have enough clothes to pack days before. We'd have nothing to wear in the meantime! 🤣
  7. Yes. 😄 I didn't cruise again until my honeymoon and later our 10th anniversary.
  8. It starts with a standard setup but you can swap out for anything non-alcoholic you want.
  9. But these people have a contract with Princess for a certain number of months. Therefore, technically, they are not employees of Princess but are contractors. The difference is that their contract is directly with Princess while the Princess Promotions people work for O.N.E which has the contract with Princess. It's a very fine distinction IMO that I don't think the customers should have to care about.
  10. How do people think the addition of Traditional Dining will impact the MDR on embarkation day?
  11. Some are out already. Jan through July 26 show up in the search criteria and cruises for those times show up.
  12. IMO, if the company can't produce any paperwork that he signed (since he didn't sign anything), he'll be fine. The CC companies favor the customer, not the business owner. At least that's been my experience as someone who takes credit cards and has had to deal with chargebacks. Never give your CC if you aren't buying something!
  13. Someone on CC (sorry, forgot who) said they used their husband's fitness classes as well as their own. The gym seemed to just want the cabin #. Of course, as will all things cruising, I suspect this depends completely on the ship, the crew, and the phase of the moon. 🤣 Anyway, I intend to try it. And, if it doesn't work, I'll either pay for the class or do one of the free ones. @uprivermama I am 15+ years out from gastric sleeve surgery. Depending on when your cruise is, you may be able to eat slightly more volume per meal than 3oz (maybe 4-6oz). However, even now, this many years out, I look at the pictures of meals people post here and think "No way I can eat that much!" My plan is to eat a bite or two from every course otherwise I'd be full after the appetizer.
  14. It's $24.99 now. Of course, they have. But it's not like I can get an alcoholic drink for less than $2 or a soda for 25 cents. And wifi isn't free even though they've paid for the equipment to provide it several times over. Therefore, IMO, what Princess really spends to provide us with those things is irrelevant. 🤷‍♂️
  15. I am sure Princess is making money on everything including the packages. However, your math is not mathing. For some of us, the package costs us less money than buying everything a la carte even if we only have 1-2 drinks a day. How much money Princess is making off us is irrelevant to this equation. What matters is how much we are paying. I'm not going to pay more by going a la carte when I don't have to.
  16. This is the email I got on Oct 18 '23 (so about 6.5 months ago) 🤷‍♀️ Good day , We have received your request to transfer your booking [REDACTED] to your travel agency, [REDACTED]. Please note that per our policy, reservations can only be transferred within 90 days of the creation of the booking. Your current booking was created on July 10, 2023, and unfortunately can no longer be transferred. Kind Regards, [NAME REDACTED] Revenue Processing/Administration Support Princess Cruises adminsupport@princesscruises.com
  17. Princess emailed me that it was 90 days when they rejected my request to transfer. (It was 97 days). But we have seen misinformation being given by Princess before. If the form says 60 days, I would go with that.
  18. Don't you think they'll put the Signature dining into a bigger space with this change?
  19. Do they have the TRX equipment in the gym still?
  20. I was planning to buy the 100 lb ones but some of the reviews I read said they are TOO strong. What ones do you buy?
  21. I had no idea there there lighthouses on the Panama Canal!
  22. So this is how statistics can be misleading. The *average* may be 1 in 10,000 cruises (though that seems low - a crew member on reddit says it's more like 1 in 30) but an individual's risk could be higher or lower than that. Your own risk depends on your health but also what the itinerary is. A itinerary in an area with high-tech medical care has a lower risk since you are more likely to be naer a port with a hospital that can care for you until you need to go home, for example.
  23. They push them because it's upfront revenue and it's a known amount so easier to budget for and manage. At least that's why most companies have packages. 😄
  24. I booked every night at the same time with the idea that once we have a better idea of onboard activities, we could change a few nights either by going to an alternate venue (SD, buffet) or changing the time, particularly on Port Days with a later return time. Also, 5:00pm is a bit early even for us. Your post I was responding to said "earliest times" not 5:00pm exactly. We're booked for slightly later than that. Anyway, I think Princess trying to guess which dining we'll want now that there are new choices is a bad idea. It will make what is going to be messy even messier IMO.
