  1. Thank you so much for the detailed reply. Don’t know what possessed me to check but now to try and find the way with the least risk.
  2. Wondering if anyone has any insight to Canadian car seats laws? Will be traveling with my petite 5 year old and leaving from Vancouver. At home she qualifies for a booster seat due to age but looking at British Columbia and the Yukon seems it is purely weight (40lbs in BC and 48lbs in Yukon). She is currently 37lbs and the booster we were going to travel with is qualified for 30-80lbs. Anything to worry about as we Uber to the port and then rent a car in Skagway to drive through BC and Yukon?
  3. Didn’t RCCL just do that on an Alaskan voyage the other day? Boarded everyone, determined there was an issue and then had them disembark? Was a news story for a day and bet you there is a subset of passengers happier with that. Perhaps a different issue but both ships are one way (YVR to Alaska) and noted propulsion.
  4. My hope is that Princess does right by the current passengers and any future ones. I am not a cruiser but will be on Ruby in July for the purpose of seeing Alaska. I understand if something breaks down but as noted above communication is key as is level setting with customers. The sailing prior had propulsion issues so these issues were known prior to the current taking off. It feels as if Princess should have communicated and given optionality to passengers before making way. As someone who goes for ports and does not enjoy ship life, I would have chosen not to board and instead spend a week in Vancouver or Northern Washington rather than skipping two planned focal points to look at the ocean some. Thats what bothers me. This isn’t a case of a propeller going after embarkation so now plan on the fly. This broke before passengers were even on when there was still time for those who wanted to change could have.
  5. Just made a final payment but they took too much from the gift. Took about 7 working days once I called for them to refund the card. They refunded the last card I used.
  6. Thanks for the prior help and settling my kids and I on the Bering Sea Crab adventure. Princess just changed the time from 10AM to noon through 3 and our ship is in port 10A-6P. Would like to more fully utilize the time in port so wondering if anyone had any suggestions on things to do (other excursions, walks, etc) that we might be able to do before and/or after the crab tour. Thanks in advance.
  7. Believe it is a bug with the site and app. Was another thread on this two days ago. my solution was loading the excursion I want to book, wait until fully loaded, hit refresh and then immediately add to cart. Once I did that I could book.
  8. Also had the same issue. Was able to get it to work by going to the excursion page, press reload once it has finished loading and then add to cart immediately.
  9. Had read that plastic king crabs are pulled up in the trap (memorial trap) though a real one is in the tank on board (plus other items)
  10. Will be on the Ruby Princess this July and stopping in Ketchikan. Wondering if any recommendations on best excursion with a 9 and 5 year old? Right now have the Bering Sea crab tour booked but wondering how they’d take it with everything being planted and the plastic crabs and being mostly stories. As such seeking some alternative ideas. one I saw was rainforest eagle and totem walk.
  11. Think in general it is tough for Amex to tell when the card is run. Will ultimately depend on what level of data Princess sends Amex. Odds are they won’t send it but if they do promo may be clawed back
  12. Here is a snip of the T&C. I tried to highlight it.
  13. Did see some data points on the HAL board that even payments against previously booked cruises or shore excursions triggered the credit. Certainly might be YMMV
  14. Amex offer does not only valid on new bookings from 11/15 so guessing won’t be able to make a $700 payment on my existing reservation.
  15. Not who you asked but we are going in July and I am fully booked. Below is what I booked. Note headed with two kids which limited my selections: Juneau: Whale watch and Mendenhall combo with Juneau Whale Watch. Understanding that even with the Mendenhall limitations last year this company got everyone who had booked to Mendenhall and they confirmed if book now we are good. Skagway: Rented a mustang with Klondike electric. Plan to drive to the suspension bridge, emerald lake, carcross, tutshi dog camp, etc. following Murray’s guide. ketchikan: booked Bering sea crab tour through the ship. It was oddly cheaper than direct..
  16. I am currently re-evaluating and re-calculating whether I should do Plus or not
  17. Apologies if these are basic questions but taking an Alaska cruise in June and will be first ever Princess cruise and first cruise in 11 years. 1) Have read about ability to have case of water delivered to room if ordered in advance. Where can I order this? Have looked on app and Princess.con and can’t find the option. Do you need to be paid in full perhaps? 2) If we brought two wine bottles on board and brought to MDR I understand a $20 corkage but if we don’t finish the bottle that night would they also store for us to finish next night? If so, does it need to be same MDR each night (will be on Ruby with three MDR) currently I am booked with Plus but debating if we’d actually get value cruising with two kids and on an Alaskan cruise where a lot of time will be in port for three days.
  18. Thanks for reply and sorry if I am missing it but where in the snippet does it note shareholders at the time of sailing? I am reading it is available to those with 100 shares at the time you apply which is 14-90 days out from sailing to those with a valid booking.
  19. Can you point me to where it denotes that what I asked about is prohibited? If it is prohibited I would not think about the application. So far I haven’t seen anything so think it is a big unfair calling it a wrong and unethical if my application is within the stated rules (100 shares, in my name, 14-90 days from sailing). As for repricing good thing for that Princess announcement yesterday noting prices will only go up. Should take that worry away. Appreciate the responses.
  20. Stupid question but could I buy the 100 shares, send my brokerage statement get the credit and then immediately sell? Also is there any one period it has to be within? For instance my cruise is July if the above is doable could I do that now?
  21. thanks everyone. Appreciate the replies. Leaning to doing excursions on my own but did have one follow up. are the times for the excursions generally accurate 9 months in advance or do they adjust? for reference looking at one that says it runs from 1030-130 but the operator says the tour runs either 8-11 or 12-3 which makes sense since other ships are in port earlier (I.e when I say I am arriving carnival spirit it tells me book the 8 but the Ruby book the 12). I know there can’t be a 1030 as only one vessel for the excursion.
  22. Headed in July on the Ruby to Alaska for my first time ever on Princess with two kids and my wife and had a couple random questions was hoping for some info on: 1) any advantage to purchasing excursions through Princess? There is one we’d like to do it is cheaper through operator (with little risk of missing sail away outside the excursion sinking). Suppose one thing that I think of is if Princess quarantines us (COVID, noro, etc) would they refund excursion? 2) we purchased the plus package. With two younger kids there isn’t much on the salty dog menu. Could wife and I do the casual dining with them ordering off the standard kids menu? If we did would they still hit us with the cover charge? 3) also along the lines of above if we used one of the meals at vines do we both need to order the huge board of cold cuts or could one order and we both (and kids) pick at it during a lunch at sea for instance. 4) any idea what the photo package costs for the week? This is the big draw of the premier package but doesn’t seem worth the $280 we’d be hit for to upgrade. 5) do they do MUTS on Alaska sailings? thanks in advance
  23. Still 10 months to go but kids are excited about the choice to drive. Right now my planner stops are: suspension bridge, tutshi dog sledding and emerald lake. Certainly would welcome any other thoughts on top priorities with kids. I have bookmarked And planned to print Murray’s guide already.
  24. I will also hopefully be there in July so a race to see who updates first. Thanks again.
  25. Thanks all. Decided in driving and booked my rental with Klondike Electrif this morning since Avis was not available. Never driven electric so not excited for that as well.
