  1. I'm deeply saddened to learn of the disastrous fire at the famous floating market in Thailand. What a heartbreaking situation for all involved. While I'm sure visiting the floating market would have been a highlight of your upcoming trip, I hope you'll still have a wonderful trip exploring Thailand's many other attractions and cultural gems. Wishing you all the very best for a safe and enjoyable vacation.
  2. It's a great idea to visit the buffet multiple times to fully enjoy each course without overeating. Start with soup or salad, then return for more substantial main dishes. Save room for dessert. I appreciate buffets that allow guests to visit multiple times, as it promotes a leisurely dining experience where people can tailor their meals to their liking. Three trips through the line seems ideal to make the most of the tasty options available. An optional fourth trip could be for a takeaway to your room, if possible.
  3. You're correct that no voltage conversion is necessary, just an adapter. I always carry a universal travel adapter for international trips, including to Japan. You should be able to find an affordable adapter at 100 yen shops, which are plentiful throughout cities like Yokohama. Purchasing one locally means you won't need to pack an extra adapter from home. Enjoy your time in Japan - an inexpensive adapter is all that's required to use your appliances during your stay.

    Bali Visa

Thank you @alwayscruisetime for the valuable information you provided. The State Department site also mentioned the option of obtaining a "Visa on Arrival", which is available at certain international ports and airports in Indonesia. It would be worthwhile asking your cruise personnel if this visa on arrival option can be availed at the specific Indonesian port where your ship will be stopping, to ensure the short one-day visit is allowed and any requirements for obtaining the visa upon arrival can be met.
  5. While I have tried a few other translation apps in the past, I always find myself returning to Google Translate. Even though it may not be perfect, it gets the job done effectively for basic translation needs. Its accessibility across different devices is also very convenient. As long as you download the languages you need beforehand, Google Translate can be used anywhere, even without an internet or data connection. For quick, simple translations when traveling, its free, offline functionality makes it a reliable option that I continue to use time and again.
  6. It's worth noting that City Garden Suites (Manila), City Garden Grand Hotel (Makati), and City Garden Hotel (Makati) are three distinct hotels located in Metro Manila. To prevent any delays or misunderstandings, please ensure you contact the specific hotel where you have made reservations. Confirming your booking details directly with the hotel will help ensure a smooth check-in experience.
  7. I'm sorry to hear about your fractured ankle, but hope you can still enjoy your trip to Japan despite this obstacle. Since you'll be traveling with a folding manual wheelchair, here is some useful information about transportation options in major cities like Tokyo and Kyoto. Many taxi companies in large Japanese cities like Tokyo now have "wheelchair-accessible taxis" equipped to transport one wheelchair user and one accompanying person safely. The website https://wheelchairtraveling.com/tokyo-japan-wheelchair-accessible-taxis/ provides helpful details on identifying and booking these taxis, which could be ideal for shorter trips within cities during your time in Tokyo and Kyoto. The link discusses wheelchair boarding procedures and safety measures, so it may offer some peace of mind to review in advance of your trip.
  8. I agree with @BruceMuzz recommendation to take a taxi, but suggest getting a wheelchair-accessible taxi as described in this article: https://wheelchairtraveling.com/tokyo-japan-wheelchair-accessible-taxis/. Given that we will be traveling with a mobility scooter and multiple suitcases, a wheelchair-accessible taxi service would likely be the most convenient transportation option. These taxis can accommodate both a scooter and other passengers or luggage, avoiding potential issues with stairs or multiple transfers on public transit. The information provided on wheelchair-accessible taxi services in Tokyo could help us easily arrange direct, point-to-point transportation from the airport to our hotel.
  9. I have been to both theme parks and I could say that Everland is better for adults. Everland is larger, meaning more variety of rides and attractions spread out over a large area. So if you like to walk a lot, this is your place. But if the weather is not good for outdoor activities, I would recommend Lotte World which has the advantage of it being adjacent to a shopping mall.
