Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Thanks for all the replies! Just to clarify things a bit...I indeed asked about this initerary specific. So no need for us to search our parked car 🙂. We will fly to Rome and from Athens back to The Netherlands. But good to know we have to take into account that it's a large port and we also need some extra time before the ferry leaves to show the tickets etc. So ferries leaving between 7.30 - 8.30 AM could be done but everything should go than very smoothly. Ferries leaving after 8.30 AM should be fine. Just have to wait now for the ferry schedules to appear.
  2. As it seems we arrive already at 5:00 AM in Athens. Which time is it possible at it's earliest (in normal situations) to leave the ship if we disembark with our luggage by ourselves? We're planning to take a ferry to Paros or Naxos after the cruise. Just would like to have an idea from which time it is possible to catch one. The schedules aren't available yet for the summer but than I can keep an eye on it.
  3. On a FB page they showed the soda cans available on The Voyager @ cafe Promenade. Diet dr. Pepper seems to be available as well
  4. Did you book directly via their website? Or via a 3rd party like TA, Viator etc.? Think I will contact her as well for our stop in Messina next summer. We're a party of 13 so let's see what they can arrange.
  5. Thnx for all the replies so far. To summarize what I learned: - Buy an oldschool watch that does not change time automatically when it detects a new timezone. Although in this initerary the time travelling will only be one hour it's not worth the risk. So many mentioned it so will not skip this advice. - Extend the safety margin to two hours. Maybe spend some additional time on land but only when it's close to the ship. - We have 2 tenderports (Santorini and Mykonos) in our initerary so here we have even less time on land and need to build in extra safety margin in Santorini if we will make use of the cable cars for our return.
  6. Thnx @gumshoe958! I will take a absolut minimum of 30 minutes into account for the port days. And when we need transportation add at least one hour to be back to the ship on top of those 30 minutes as a safety margin. So basically you're 'losing' at least 2 hours of the advertised time. And with the tenders in Mykonos and Santorini even more. Always good to know this in advance and incorporate this in the planning of the activities.
  7. As a newbie I have a few questions where I can't find an answer on by searching this forum. 1) The arrive and depart times for an initerary are displayed on the RCL website. How does this correspond with the actual times you can spend on land? For instance (see screenshot) day 2 we should arrive around 7 AM in Naples. Which time you usually can leave the ship? And depart time is 6 PM. Which time at latest do you need to be back at the ship? It is useful to know as we probably will book most excursions from 3rd parties are will do it on our own. 2) Does the soda package also contains normal (non flavoured) sparkling water? My wife usually drinks normal sparkling water. I know the bottles are only included in the Refreshment package but was wondering if the soda machines contain sparkling water on the Voyager as well. And if so...anyone has experience with it (I know this is really subjective but nonetheless good to know). 3) As I understood from this forum the Voyager does not have soda freestyle machines. What flavours can you get at the bar etc.? I can find pictures and movies of the flavours in a freestyle machine but as this is not available on the Voyager I was wondering if still the same flavours are available.
  8. @Labanos Thanks a lot for this trip report! We will be visiting some of these destinations as well in Aug 2024 (Going from Rome to Athens via Napels, Messina, Santorini, Kusadasi and Mykonos). Your detailed report will definitely help with the planning of our port days.
  9. We had two offers open for 4 Inside Cabins for a total of 13 people for departure in August 2024. NCL was €15.1k excl 150 FAS per adult. The offer for RCL was €16.3k and drinks way more expensive compared to NCL. So we decided to go with NCL as we found the initerary also slightly more attractive (both Greek Isles). Five days ago, before I would lift the option for NCL I did a mock booking on RCL when I saw they had some actions for 3rd/4th person in the room etc. In the morning I was able to choose rooms but distracted by work did the mock booking again in the afternoon. Only GTY cabins were left but with a huge discount. Offer was €10.4K now. So changed our option to GTY cabins. The day after did the same booking again and only GTY cabins (3/4 persons) available but again €700 cheaper. So changed our option again for a total of €9.7k (including the gratuities). We must have been lucky as now I cannot find 3 (3 person) GTY cabins anymore. For us it was a huge discount of 6.6k which came out of nowhere. Of course we have now the uncertainty of not knowing our cabin numbers but with only one sea day on this 7 night cruise we will not spend much time in our rooms. But when they give these discounts it makes you wonder if the initial offer was not way too high...
