  1. Viking bused us from Budapest to Komaron for the night. We had an option of taking the bus back to Budapest the next day.
  2. Yes the city center is fairly interesting and is in walking distance of the boat.
  3. I am not on the boat. My first symptoms developed on the last day of our journey. Looking back now, I do remember a few people buying Ricola cough drops while we were on an excursion. My wife is now developing the same cough and tickly throat. Hope you stay well!
  4. Will some bad news today! It has moved from my throat to my chest and head, and it is not from the HVAC. It is confirmed as the one we will not mention. No regrets, will always live life while I have life to live!
  5. So just returned from our river cruise today from Budapest to Regensburg. On serious not we had to be bused at two different spots and had a couple of excursions canceled the night before. Each day into our journey we noticed considerable more coughing coming from fellow traveler's on the boat. By the end you begin to worry about the coughing and sitting on a bus for hours with these people. On my way home I to have developed this sore throat and cough. Hopefully, it does not get worse! On a plus note, the food was excellent as well as the staff. You do see some beautiful sites but this trip is geared for an older crowd. Our group laughed until our belly hurt but longed for a little faster pace activities and music. If you are 60 you will be one of the youngest on the boat.
  6. We were told the day we boarded the ship we had a itinerary change but the company still keep responding via email there was no itinerary change. Also, a few of the crew were very honest about the situation and told yes the levels were so low it would take along time before they would come up enough to change anything. Also, one of our excursions had been canceled for a week and we were not informed about it until the night before.
  7. I do love how everyone is still having a good time. My trip has been somewhat of a bore. Missing the bend was a real downer for me. I am not a city lover and love to see nature. This is my second Viking cruise, the first was an Ocean Cruise. I have decided that these are not for me. You rush in a port and rush out, left wanting to see more! Unless you like sitting and talking, there is not much to do on the boat. My biggest issue is they knew about the low water plenty early and could have informed people. I had one of the crew tell me it will be to low for a long time because it needs so much water. Viking should have informed us so we could make a decision on our trip.
  8. Yes, when I talked to Viking on Oct 6th via email they continued to tell me there was no change in our itinerary even though the crew in Budapest told us the boat had left and we would be driven to Komaron. They just don't want to inform people of the change until the last minute. Even now on the boat they refuse to tell us we are going to have to be driven from Passau to Regensburg, and most on the boat have now found out other ways! It would be better to know more in advance but they are afraid you will cancel.
  9. We arrive on Friday, October 6th in Budapest, we then travel to Regensburg. Have the levels gone up enough to complete this section of the river without bussing?
  10. Board in Budapest on Oct. 6th and head to Regensburg. Does anybody know how far they believe we will make it on the boat?
  11. It looks as if our Viking Cruise from Budapest to Regensburg on Oct. 6th is going to more of a bus trip. Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
  12. We board in Budapest on October 6th and travel to Regensburg. How are the water levels looking on that stretch?
