ok, thanks, what you are saying is water levels CAN be an issue on that route? I know the Rhine has water level issues , the Porto cruise and the Bordeaux cruises do not (as they empty into the ocean, but Bordeaux can actually suffer tidal issues that cause the itinerary to change). i am just trying to understand if it's even a need for consideration on this particular river. i spent time on line and it wasn't very definitive

That's pretty awesome. i just finished the grand European with Viking and loved it. water levels became an issue but Viking stood tall and took care of us. do you know if the lyon to Avignon trip ever has water level issues?

my understanding is it is currently stuck between bridges on both directions but is heading north viking central monitors water levels so they know more than I do

I am on the Viking Ve. We are stuck in straubling due to high water and can’t get under the bridge. . We are in the midst of a ship swap with a ship just pulled from service for the season This means the crew will be part of the swap with lots of logistics and work but Viking has been top notch throughout. I guess ithis is absolutely rare for the crew to follow. They are packing up more than most swaps and everyone remains smiling and professional. you can’t control the weather but they are doing a great job on everything else. My second cruise with Viking and I am becoming a fan.

Notamermaid. you do a vital service here, thank you ! this is my second Viking river cruise. first was Bordeaux. I am doing the grand european tour from Amsterdam on 11/7... I am following your posts to know the odds of getting to budapest directly. with 40 pages to catch up on, is there a simple place that tells what the minimum levels are to get through ? i am reading the 255cm to 264 but don't know if i should be elated or depressed. I started reading the first 2-3 pages and last 3 pages. If there's an easier place to go to catch up, please let me know.... it would be appreciated.
