  1. We just returned from 21 days on the Epic, we are wine drinkers and from our experience the wine menu didn't mean much. One day they would have the Chardonnay my husband likes, the next day they'd be out of it and substitute something else. I'd ask for the Blackstone Merlot and be told they were out of it, then they'd give me whatever they wanted. Had I paid for the UBP I would have been very unhappy (I realize I did pay for it, even though it was a promotion). We also found it difficult to get served, so we would end up waiting in line at the bar; we tried sitting down waiting for a server and more times than not nobody showed up, so we'd go to the bar and place our own order. The benefit was not worth much to us, in the future we would just pay the corkage and carry on our own wine.

Oh oh...better lower my expectations then! I need to learn how to tolerate fruity/ mixed drinks.

    Thanks for the update.

  2. Hello Anonmom!

Hoping you come back to this thread to answer a question...

No Name Bar sounds perfect for us. Originally we were planning on the Money Bar, but we wouldn't need a cab for No Name.

I checked Google maps and it looks like the bar is south of the pier, so wouldn't we make a RIGHT on the main street coming out of the terminal? Just don't want to mislead all the little ducklings that will be following me!

  3. Good advice!

I'd really like to see the Vatican and the colosseum, so it sounds like if I do the bus tour through msc, and get timed ticket for the first, I can accomplish my goal

  4. Thanks, that may be a good "happy medium". If I may ask, how much time did that tour give you in Rome, and did you just walk everywhere or take public transit between sites?

  5. Thanks, we're going DIY for all the other ports, Rome just seems more difficult with the distance. I have a 300euro quote from a private company (not including admission to colosseum and Vatican). A comparable ship tour is $130 pp on a bus, so not much different.

  6. I need help from the cruise critic community!

My cousin and I will be on Preziosa, scheduled for Civitavecchia on April 18. I had my tour all picked out (CBM guided walking tour) after perusing the Rick Steve's guidebook, only to find that it is not available for those traveling on MSC. Apparently other cruise ships get to port much earlier!

Many of the top rated tours on trip advisor are also not available for that date/time.

Any advice? There are only two of us and my preference would be to join a group as a private tour is prohibitive. There is absolutely no action on the roll call.

Is it time to throw in the towel and book a shore excursion through the ship?

    Thanks!

  7. I agree with macandlucy. NCL is not handling this well at all, and the cruise I purchased last year is no longer the one I'm taking.

Additionally, I just got off the phone with NCL shore excursions because I had to request that they credit back my already purchased Harvest Caye excursion for three to my credit card. I get the feeling that it may not have been done had I not made the call...

  8. Cruise Critic folks are always a wealth of knowledge, so here goes my question:

We are trying to choose between the Wind Surf Treasures of Southern Spain and Morocco on 9/8 and Star Pride Spanish Serenade on 10/20.

I know the weather is warmer and drier in September.

Wind Surf is a sailing vessel.

The Pride currently has a big hole in her hull (perhaps that is why it is quite a bit less expensive?)

    The Pride has larger staterooms.

If anyone has any feedback on these itineraries I'd love to hear it!

    Thanks

  9. Sigh

I CALLED the NCL excursion line today to see if they would be forthcoming about whether we are going to Harvest Caye in March, and all I got was the pat "the itinerary says Harvest Caye ."

When pressed, I was directed to the number for customer relations: 866 625 1164.

    Not a happy camper!

  10. I put in a request for 23 family members to dine together at the MDR for 4 nights. Email is specialevents(name of ship)@ncl.com. They will accommodate us at 3 or 4 tables next to each other. The times are 5:30, 6, 8:30 or 9 only. I chose 6pm on the days at sea, and I figure everyone can do thier own thing on port days. I would confirm with the maitre d upon arrival.

  11. I agree!

I KNOW we will have a great time (yay UBP!), but I picked this cruise out of several other options for a family reunion cruise, and now the logistics have become terrible with two ports out of three involving unexpected tendering. Anybody that still thinks we are going to Harvest Caye this season has their head in the sand.

I am not blaming NCL for the delay on construction, just for the delay in communication.

My family isn't very happy about the room service charge either, and all these changes occurred after we put our deposits down
