I would like to be able to look at the actual wine list that shows the vintner and the year. I know they have them but they don't offer them to us as we are lowly Plus users. I need to get a copy of a list somewhere - but of course they seem to differ by ship - and have it handy for reference. I "think" I even saw a wine list on the TV listing for the buffet. Maybe I'll check for lists that way and take a pic of the list so I can remember what is actually within the price range. I'd love to upgrade but...

I am lowly at the factory I work at. Again that is why I am premier on vacation. I definitely think it is worth it .

  2. We only cruise once every three or four years. I work fifty-six hour work weeks, so I do not even want to worry about what something is costing on board. I want top shelf drinks, I want the best food, no buffets, and if I want a keepsake photo I can get one. The 401 k might take a hit, but this blue collar worker rarely gets to live it up like that. I don't want to do the math. Of coarse it favors the bean counters from corporate.

The email will come from notifications@ocean.com. Not Princess per se.  So be on the watch for that email!  Mine has never gone into junk or spam, but doesn't mean it couldn't end up there.

Thank you.  That would be easy to overlook.

The email comes from "Ocean Notifications".  It details your order and the tracking number.  Ours have always come via USPS.

Thank you.  I hope you bear with me, this is my first Princess cruise with a medallion.  We as are just a few weeks away from our cruise. We are ocean ready, and have ordered our medallions.

I have no idea what Ocean Notifications is . So I take that to mean that the day they ship the medallions, Princess will send an email to the email address that I provided.  It has nothing to do the app at all. Does that sound correct

When they ship, which is about 2 weeks before sailing…they will send an email with tracking information. It’s usually USPS if you’re in the US.  You should receive the medallions about 11 days before sailing.

I have received them once from Fedex, but usually it’s USPS.

Once, no tracking email, they just arrived.

Don’t know what is confusing about this?  YMMV

You said they sent an email two weeks before they shipped them. You cleared up that you meant they shipped them two weeks before the cruise and the email was sent the day they shipped them.

As many have said, and we have experienced, the only thing that matters is ordering the medallion.  Have your husband order the medallions.  When you get to the port all you need is either the medallion (which puts you in green lane) or go to the blue lane to pick up your medallion.  In the last 4 cruises, not once have they looked at our phones or the app.  Please don't feel stressed about the app in regards to green lane.

Another FYI, even though we qualify for free shipping, we were "charged" $10 for shipping when we made the medallion order.  Our medallions just shipped and the $10 charge had been removed.  I thought about calling to complain about the fee, but decided $10 wasn't enough for me to spend time on now and I could deal with it onboard if I wanted.  Thankfully, it straightened out on it's own.

How did you know that your medallions where shipped?  How where you notified of that ?

  7. Thank you for the report. We will be there in a few weeks. We got lot B.  Right now my paperwork says boarding is 12:00 to 2:00. How did you know they would let you board at 10:40?  What was it like for sail away with the temperature so cold?  I want to not check in my carry-on. Did it appear that many did that? Did the porters check in your bags, or did you?

    Bon Voyage. 🍷

It is my understanding that you do not even have to have the princess app at all .  Is the shore side credit card required to get your medallion delivered if you do everything on a laptop or call in ?

Will I regret not using the app while on board ?

Thank you very much! I have been going crazy trying to do this!  Now, how do you make specialty dinner reservations without being charged if you have the premier package?

I had to phone in my premier specialty dinning reservations. Mainly because we wanted to dine with another couple with a table for four. Even then I had to use all four of my credits for one night, and their four credits for the other night.  That should be simple to do on-line, but I could not.

Instead of standing at the edge of the pool, thinking it would be too cold, I decided to just jump in, so I downloaded the new app.  I got exactly what I didn't want to happen.  The new app took me out of green lane and was now requiring that I enter a card number for the offshore account.  As much as I tried to bypass that scam, I was still showing as being incomplete on my check in, where my wife was all checked in because she didn't have any credit card on file and was listed under mine.

I finally got back to all green when I put in the numbers for a $40 gift card I had hanging around.

I bet if your wife would have loaded the new app, you would show all checked  in and green,  and she would have been out of the green lane.  That is what mine shows. I decided not to worry about it.

I just downloaded the new app to do our check-in for upcoming cruise, still have the old app, too. When I got to the payment section, I did not fill in the shoreside part, just hit "Continue later." So I do not have a check by Payments. I then went to the old app - it also has a Shoreside tab in the payments section but just has an "Exit" box that I tapped without filling in information. The old app has my Payments section with a checkmark!

But what about the new app?  I am glad you at least got the old one ocean ready.

Here's our experience today.  Booked a cruise online (web).  Started check-in on NEW app.  The credit card section would not show a save button and would not move forward with that step of the process.  So, logged into the OLD app.  Credit card section worked.

Next, order medallion's.  Log into the NEW app and the "ship to home" was gray.  SO, log into the OLD app.  Ship to home completed.  Green lane confirmed.

Next up, MDR dining.  Upgraded to Premier on the web.  Then, log into NEW app.  Tried to make a standing reservation for all days of the cruise in MDR.  I could not see how to do that.  SO, OLD app it is.  Made MDR reservations for the whole cruise.

Next up, specialty dining for Premier.  Log into NEW app.  Made first reservation, charge was $0.  Try to make second reservation, it was charging me.  So, OLD app... make second specialty dining reservation, $0.  Yay.

This cruise leaves in a month, I'm now green lane, medallions are ordered, dining is booked.  Hopefully the new app gets a few more things straightened out before they discontinue it.

I am with you. I hope they leave the old app around longer than they have said.  I like the new app, but since I do not want to approve the shore side credit card, it more or less does not show me as ocean ready, and does not allow me to see all my details.

If they somehow fix that credit card approval situation that causes the 6 out of seven check marks , I would probably only open and use the new app .

  13. We finally downloaded the new app for our mid February cruise. We are ocean ready green on the old app. Sure enough I am 6 out of 7 on the new app. Wife is 7 out of 7. When she looks at her app, I am the one 7 out of 7, she is 6 out of seven.

Recapping what I have read so far, it seems most are not going to approve the on-shore credit card, and as long as they have their medallion ordered and delivered, they are not going to even worry about. That is how I am going to handle it. Am I missing something.

Where on the new app do you find print travel summary or print luggage tags like the old one.

Also, we got a reserve class room. Where do we find our boarding time. I can not find it on either app.

We didn't need to find parking - had a ride to the port.  The only seating was outside - there's a line for people who need assistance boarding and there are benches there.  You can check your own bags if you want - there's a place marked baggage, near where passanger drop off is.  There are also people with trollies working that area who will handle it for tips.

Thank for the information. Good to hear there are places to sit for a bit in the outside line, and another line for those with mobility issues..

Did you go to Roatan? Do you know what the walk to the beach is like? Can not do the chair lift.

My guess, just as good as any other, is a alarm sound annunciator in case of emergencies like crash or abandon ship. Next guess.

I agree with you. Most likely a buzzer type or horn type. I will pay attention at the muster station training and see if an alarm will sound to report to your muster station in a real emergency. I know the captain will verbally announce, but that intercom system will not notify all.  I think there is different alarm sequences for different type of emergencies. I am sure they test the alarm system often, probably on sea days .

  16. The Regal is a beautiful ship.

I go on cruises only once every three years or so. When I do , I like the middle of the ship. I work fifty-six hour work weeks, so I feel it is worth the money to be where I like. If I can't get the middle, I try to get the rear over the front. I feel it is a smoother ride. I like decks nine, ten, and eleven. And I personally like the starboard side.   Absolutely get a balcony room. It lets you get away from the crowd, and it is a million dollar view.

Specialty dinning is a full blown fine dinning experience. It is dinning like your average working man could not normally afford. And even then it is an extra thirty-five dollars or so. The casual dinning is restaurants on board that are not free like the main dinning room, and buffet are. Casual dinning restaurants cost around fifteen dollars.  You have to research the ship to find the names of the restaurants

  17. My last visit to Grand Cayman with Norwegian, the waves seemed choppy with wind and cloud cover. They decided to go ahead and tender over. We got on the tender boat, got our seat, and I could see how wavy it really was. I wanted no part of the ride. We got off the tender before it left and off it went. It turned out, that was the last tender as  all the excursion got cancelled because of the weather. All those that tendered over had to return in those waves .  I hated missing on of my favorite ports, but it was a good decision. Maybe Princess has learned from the past.
