Thanks for your input.  I’ve watched The Cove (and Blackfish) and fully understand (and appreciate) your concerns.  I weigh that information against the benefits of exposure to wildlife, and the lifelong impact that can have on people (especially at a young age).  The site which Princess is using is American Humane certified, and limits the exposure time for their dolphins.  In this case, my personal decision is to do the excursion at this time.

There is nothing American Humane certified about keeping dolphins in captivity. Google the intelligence level of dolphins and you might understand better. also, did you know dolphins have family groups, just like humans, and mourn the loss of family members? So, these captured dolphins have been removed from their family for your entertainment pleasure.

I do everything myself.  I don't need my hand held.  When I am ready to book I have already did all the research and know exactly what I want.

So do I, but booking directly with the cruiseline isn't going to give me the OBC I get from my TA or save me from spending hours on the phone when cruises get cancelled. Not all TA"s are created equal! Mine is a Rock Star.

  3. I have used a TA since 2016 when I met her on a cruise. She is awesome and most of the time we get great OBC as well as great service. I had 11 cruises cancelled and never once had to be on hold with Carnival during the shut down. When I'm ready to make a payment, I message her and she gets back with me immediately.

This question has been asked and answered a million times. Would you want to go to a house party full of unvaccinated people for a week or fully vaccinated ? Which do you think gives you a better chance of not catching Covid, getting it severely and it spreading quickly? You should know the answer to your own question by now.

Interestingly, I would never even think to ask whether people are vaxed or unvaxed and we are vaccinated. So, I wouldn't even know how many people in that party were vaxed.

Now even better is if they do honor FTTF and not Diamond priority boarding. I am ready to pay double for that perk, but they have to walk me by the Diamond seating section as we board.

Hate to burst your bubble, but Platinum and Diamond will get 48 hour access to online check in before it is opened up to the rest of the ship.

@Roz  Thank you.  I think maybe the best thing to do is take a short jaunt from a nearby port and decide.  I usually only like long cruises and am considering their transatlantic.  We like to sail those as an alternative to flying.

We have been on 3 TA cruises with Carnival and do not remember there being a lot of sales pitch at all. I have never felt overwhelmed with pushy sales people on Carnival.

    What I wonder:

When/if cruising resumes...will people be allowed to cancel without penalty if they booked prior to the restrictions being announced.

I can live with masks (not DH!) but the escorted excursions won't be happening for me.

Maybe I'm missing something, but wouldn't it just be easier if a vaccination is a requirement to sail?  Imho...testing is nonsense.  Why would risk spending $XXXX on the cruise plus airfare....and then not be able to sail due to a false negative or a nasty surprise?

Even if vaccinated, you can still get Covid so testing would still be required.

Between 3 and 5 thousand people are dying a day of the virus in the US.  It doesn't matter who the President is the fact that the virus continues to spiral out of control is the reason no ship will sail from US ports anytime soon.  I don't understand how any reasonable person can continue to book cruises knowing that you are just throwing good money after bad giving these billion dollar corporations interest free loans.  It's not a guess at this point.  It is a very easy to see fact that until this vaccine actually starts working those ships aren't going anywhere and it has zero to do with who is in the Oval office.  The realistic approach has served me well at this point.

The reason we keep booking is because we have FCC with OBC from 7 cruises on the books right now. Would do me no good to ask for a refund as I paid for all of them with gift cards. Booked all the way into 2023 at this point.

I am from SC and I see absolutely no one without a mask anywhere. You aren't allowed inside any building without a mask. Am I sick of it? Yes. Do I wear one. You bet I do. And I have never seen anyone without a mask. Not in any store or restaurant, unless you are at your table eating. People here are compliant and caring of others. I don't know where rs45 is from, but I live in a suburb of Charleston.

I am in the Myrtle Beach area. Most stores and restaurants require a mask. Was at a restaurant in Conway last might, which is 10 miles from Myrtle and no one except the staff, wore a mask. We wore ours in and out of restaurant but were the only ones!!

Next year was not a replacement for this year. The 2021 cruises in Europe were available in Nov 2019 6 months before this years cruises were cancelled.

I believe what she was saying is because 2020 got cancelled, there is a group of us that booked 2021 same time frame to replace our cancelled cruises so it was a replacement for us.

I keep in touch with dozens of crew members and most of them are having serious financial issues. No cruises for people on this board means the loss of a great vacation. No cruises for crew members means the loss of their livelihood.

Exactly. And, so many people don't seem to realize this can be as debilitating as the virus. Here in the US, alcholoism, drug abuse, and suicides have raised 30%. I'm sure the stress the crew is feeling from no income is worse than the fear of a virus.
