I got married on the Magic a few years ago and I have Carnival a list of people coming. Some were not cruising but most were. They all checked in with the planner and waited in a separate area. I was the first to board the ship along with my guests. My room was ready and my in laws so my husband could get ready. Shortly after we boarded my bridesmaid room was ready. If you have any questions about the process ask the bride. Carnival gives them all the details

This is the best advice of all. Ask the bride who has had everything arranged.

  2. Since you have priority boarding, the check in time does not apply. Keep your scheduled transportation to get to the port but be aware you may have a longer wait in the terminal. When they start boarding, they will board in this order. Wedding parties, if there are any, Diamonds, Platinums, FTTF and Suites.

Lol, animals?  Best rooms in the fleet, the only”animals”  that can walk by are your neighbors that also booked a HC room

That still doesn't negate the fact that there is no privacy on the Havana balcony's which is exactly why we will never book them. We use our balconies a lot, it's where we go when we want privacy and no socializing with our neighbors. We get plenty of social time when out and about the ship. I realize for many people they love these cabins. To each their own.

  4. My granddaughter and I actually liked the Sea Day Brunch. Went twice. Interesting that your cabin was hot as we were on Lido deck and our cabin was cold! I found most of the ship to be cold and always had a jacket with me. May just be my Florida blood! We truly enjoyed the ship and would book her again with no hesitation!

They rename the ship and market it as a new ship to people who don't know better.  That's about all.

I have to disagree with this. Just got off the Sunrise last week and we were very impressed with her. .Yes, there are times the Lido felt over crowdedbut it was manageable and we just avoided that area during the busiest time. So many alternative places to eat that we never used the buffet once. Wonderful crew. They did a beautiful job of rdoing her.

40 plus cruises so far and neither She Who Must Be Obeyed or I have ever gotten sick on a cruise ship or after air travel. I last had the flu in 1975.  My last cold was in 1989. Both were rare and so memorable for me.  I don't get flu shots. In fact, as I approach 70, I do not take any prescription medication except prophlactically when traveling internationally.  A combination of good genes, good health, and good sanitation procedures.

You have to protect yourself. What do you touch after you sanitize on the way into the buffet or MDR? Serving tongs? Ladles? The bottom of your chair as you pulled it in? The menu? The salt and paper shakers?  Do you unwrap your silverware burrito and lay your utensils on the table?  On a cruise ship and in an airplane you must think of every surface as contaminated and break the chain of cross-contamination between the surfaces and your mouth.

We not only sanitize our hand on the way into the  buffet or MDR, but also after we are seated with our own little bottle of sanitizer.  Also, if you lay your silverware on the table, take a few moments to observe how the staff are "cleaning" the tables.  I have observed them wiping off tables in the buffet with a used cloth napkin and then resetting the table for the next patron - which could be you.

    Three tips for preventing illness:

Wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands.

Safe and healthy cruising to all.

I am also approaching 70, 35 cruises, and have never gotten sick on a cruise. I also don;t get colds or the flu and don't get flu shots. Same with my husband. Neither one of us take prescription meds. We do take vitamins, eat healthy and at least 2 weeks before cruising, take an immune support pill and continue taking while cruising. Always wash our hands but never wipe down any surfaces or give it a thought. I have worked with the public my whole life so as has he so maybe we just have really strong immune systems.

We have sailed with Ken several times, he is the best.  He and the rest of the crew will be missed when the Pride moves to Tampa.

Will he not go back to the Pride after being on the Panorama for a while? I was hoping that would be the case since Pride is moving to Tampa. I know he will probably be on the Mardi Gras as well for a while.

If everyone wants to get off of the ship as early as possible, but your friends need to check their luggage, then I recommend finding out the exact time that the luggage tags are available and having them be one of the first in line.  We have done that and gotten the earliest possible luggage zone for our checked luggage (after priority).

In my experience, they will put something in the cabin that will let people know when and where the luggage tags are available.  It should also be possible to get the information from guest services.  This way you can carry off your own luggage, your friends can check theirs, and all of you can exit the ship at the same time and get off to an early start for your drive home.

Still need to realize luggage is not out yet when self assist starts.

as far as sleeping in fogetaboutit, it is so loud starting around 7, even with ear plugs. We never leave the same day and are usually in the last group leaving. The best part is when you go to the luggage area, your bags are the only ones left. Around 10am they make the last call

    Exactly what we do.

Thanks Finoky for your courteous helpful response and unassuming position to the question.

Pulling the luggage would  definitely add to our cardio.

We have always been among the first ones off the ship usually around 7:30 a.m.  - sure didn't mean to cause such a stir - really didn't know what passengers did until their time to debark - that's why I ask.

Guess we will be the first ones off the ship.

    Thanks again.

Just put your luggage out the night before. We are also Diamonds and we are never in a hurry to get off the ship. We go to Lido, have a leisurely breakfast and wait till the majority of the passengers have disembarked.

I can't give you the mathematical answers to the questions above but can tell you I have been on over 50 Cruise's in my lifetime. I have done most of the lines and 30 have been with carnival. So, being able to cruise so much I pretty much know what I am talking about, I am going by what I have seen and in my opinion, carnival has to many officer's that walk around doing nothing.. this is my opinion from being on other cruise lines and I see alot less officer's on those other lines, and when I see them it seems like they are doing something other than standing around..

Believe me, Carnival isn't going to pay officer wages if they aren't necessary. They also get time off just like any other job and since they live on the ship, you will see them doing what you call nothing at times.

I have not found that to be the case, we have found returning Carnival guests to be the vast majority of cruisers on CCL med cruises.

I think you misunderstood what I was saying. On European Carnival cruises there are very few families and kids and yes, many regular Carnival customers. The atmosphere is much differen than those in the Caribbean- I like both experiences, they are just different from each other.

Sure, the targeted demographic may be different but are you really willing to say the passengers are more desirable on a European sailing than a Caribbean sailing with Carnival? Please help me understand what you are suggesting.

I'm not saying that at all. Just a totally different experience. I have no issue with Carnival passengers on Caribbean sailings as well as European sailings. I have enjoyed every Carnival Cruise I have been on. Obviously, they are not your choice of cruise line. To each their own.

I will let xDisconnections give your their experience, but I did 2 legs on the Vista, and  I have 2 legs booked on the Legend next year. I had no issues at all in Europe with Carnival. In fact, I liked that they allowed us to bring on alcohol on at embarkation and in ports.

We as well have done Vista and Horizon in Europe and have the same 2 cruises booked on the Legend and have enjoyed all the cruises with Carnival inEurope.

I am one of those rude people.

But seriously you would rather have to listen to my kids complain about about waiting, have them running underfoot and generally be impatient kids for 20 minutes, than be surprised at the last minute when one person turns into an entire family?

We find it a lot more convenient to have one person wait in line than everyone.  Not sure what you have gained by waiting behind all of us the entire time, but I do know how annoying it would be for us to do it that way.

The point you seem to be missing is that person behind you that has been waiting patiently thinks they are the next in line and then you bring your brood into the mix. I would rather they be standing there and then I can assess whether I want to wait in that line.

  16. IMHO, I would much rather smell pot than cigarette smoke. Pot will soon be legal everywhere, just like booze and cigarettes are. Even though I'm not a pot smoker, I have no issue with it. Give me a nice mellow pot smoker any day than an out of control drunk!

You made a point of how they missed big time.  While the Sunrise was not my favorite ship, she sure was not my least favorite either.  It was a legit question, and I was unclear by reading your review.  You also mention of how the upgrade was flimsy and poorly done which I did not see - at all I might add.  I wanted to see if I missed something.  I hope your future cruises are better fits for you.  Happy cruising.

I will be on Sunrise in November with my 21 year old granddaughter and I know we will have a great time because we always do together. I'm not impressed with how Carnival is taking their older ships and refurbing them by adding more cabins, eliminating public space which creates a very crowded condition. Obviously, Carnival doesn't care what we the passengers think as there have been many, many complaints about these refurbs.
