  1. Completely agree. We have avoided Kings Court as much as possible for the past 23 days but had lunch there today as it was our only option (other than Golden Lion which wasn't open yet) I had crunchy, flavorless green beans, roasted potatoes that were cold, a piece of fried chicken and a slice of dry and flavorless mocha cake. Closed station today:
  2. No, we would not travel with Cunard again. We have met many fellow passengers of various nationalities who have said the same.
  3. Onboard QM2 now, day 22 of a 30 day voyage round trip from NY. Yes, we have experienced all of these things. We have experienced this as well. My husband just returned from the E-sports area which had been closed for 10 days because of flooding from toilets. Floors had to be torn out and redone. There are white paint flecks everywhere. We have detected various smells throughout the ship - a sour smell on deck 4, some sort of fume on deck 7 forward (promenade). Tonight is Gala night and here is the menu (apologies for the shadow. We go every morning to take photos of the lunch and dinner menus because they are not available on "my voyage" app or anywhere else that we know of)
  4. Yes, breakfast items there until 10am - yogurt, muesli, donuts, usually 2 breakfast sandwich options. I will post some photos soon. Carinthia lunch until 2:30pm - we have been there several times and it is always a flatbread, macaroni and cheese and dessert items. I will post photos of lunch later today. Room service breakfast must be ordered the night before, choosing a time to be served. This morning it arrived 20 minutes early and we were not quite awake and ready. We have not tried room service brunch - there are 4 items available: smoked salmon bagel, avocado toast, frittata, huevos rancheros.
  5. Hopefully this will be helpful to someone. Note the gaps where food is not available. We are on day 18 of our voyage and we have often had to rush to the dining room for breakfast and lunch before it closed. Today, because of our tour in port, we really wanted to eat an early dinner around 5pm but it's not possible...not even in the buffet. We could have ordered room service but the menu is very limited. Also, prior room service meals have been poor quality and took quite a while to arrive.
  6. No one showed us to our Brittania stateroom. We talked with a couple yesterday in Brittania Club and on embarkation day, they were directed to their stateroom incorrectly by a crew member and ended up outside on deck 12. Study the deck plans because we have been misdirected by crew also.
  7. We are on board QM2 now on a 30 day voyage RT from NY. We enjoyed the eastbound transatlantic more than the British Isles portion we are on now. Our experience says to us that QM2 is set up to be transatlantic transportation. We opted out of our first shore experience in Queensferry because the tendering operation frightened us. We found out later that inexperienced crew were operating tender boats...which explains why we watched one tender take 13 tries to dock on return to the ship. Yes, daytime onboard activities are less on port days. We have also experienced less activities on sea days. The transatlantic schedule was packed with activities.
  8. Primary focus was the lectures by Stephen Payne and Bill Miller. There was a special flag that was auctioned off and a commemorative piece of artwork for sale in the art gallery.
  9. @ace2542 We were on the crossing with you and still on board for the British Isles portion of the voyage. How was your dinner service? In Brittania, we had terrible service (received wrong items, waiters did not know/understand the menu, serving improperly, reaching across the table and not placing flatware that we needed) We are on fixed dining and our table has now been assigned new waiters that are somewhat better. We have asked several waiters about their contracts and almost all are new. Breakfast and lunch service in Brittania has been very good and we have enjoyed those meals much more than dinner. We had a cocktail in the Chart Room one night and the server offered us "nibbles" but to our disappointment, never returned. We have been to Sir Samuels twice for coffee (extra charge) and pastries/desserts (which are included/not chargeable) and enjoyed it. Our room steward has been excellent. We have been to the Queens Room for tea once and enjoyed it. Kings Court is not for us. It is the most spartan cruise ship buffet we have ever experienced and we feel no joy there so will avoid it as much as possible for the rest of the voyage.
  10. We were on the eastbound crossing that arrived in Southampton yesterday. On day 3 of the crossing, we visited the red mailbox and read the notice posted on the front of it. I wish I had taken a photo of it but it stated that mail dropped there would be posted in New York which is strange because the ship won't be in NY again until September 22. We are now on the British Isles part of the voyage so stopped by there this morning and the notice on the front is gone. We are going to wait and mail from a post office in port on Monday. I'm so sorry your mail didn't arrive.
  11. It is a tripping hazard. I almost fell maneuvering out of that corner as I finished filling a glass with water. When I finish mopping the kitchen, I don't leave the bucket and mop water sitting out.
  12. Buckets everywhere in Kings Court - gives off a certain nursing home vibe. I would prefer more discreet sanitizing methods.
  13. Our Daily Programme reads: Britannia Deck 2 First sitting 6:00pm with last call 6:15pm, Second sitting 8:30pm with last call 8:45pm Britannia Deck 3 (for guests on open dining only) Open seating from 6:00pm to 9:00pm Perhaps it changes for Christmas cruises. Tonight, the couple usually beside of us did alternative dining so another couple on open dining were seated there. So I guess it is possible to be seated on deck 2 if you choose open dining.
  14. How very kind of you. This means a lot to us. Trying to keep our chins up. Thank you.
  15. Doesn’t your own experience in part contradict this? Our waiters apparently didn't pass muster on deck 2 fixed seating and are being moved back up to deck 3 open dining for "more training"
  16. We are on board QM2 now, on early seating and have had some serious problems with service in Britannia. We were told last night that we will have a new waiter team beginning tonight. The team we have had is being moved to deck 3 open dining for "more training" as explained to us by the maitre'd. We do not recommend open dining. We believe the better waiters are assigned to fixed dining.
  17. On QM2 now and seeing these buckets everywhere. I nearly tripped over this one in the King's Court this morning - right in front of the juice and water station. Crew are carrying them around in many areas of the ship. I'm all for sanitizing but I find this open bucket with a rag in it disgusting (and a tripping hazard). Is this normal procedure on Cunard ships? Our waiter team in Britannia has gone from bad to worse and we are being assigned a new one tomorrow. Our section is 4 couples (all of us are on the 30 day voyage) and everyone is receiving the wrong items. Waiters are clueless about the menu. Waiters are serving improperly, reaching across the table, cutlery is not being properly placed. We had to skip dessert tonight in order to make it to the show on time.
  18. We believe "Infinity Express" was about stars and planets. Daily Programme for tomorrow lists "Spark: The Universe in Us" There is no description but that sounds like a stars and planets type show.
  19. Read this with much interest as we are on QM2 now with Holland America Rotterdam up next in March. We have seen the same "dressing down" in Britannia dining room and find it off-putting. And we are also missing the friendly and personable exchanges that we have had with crew on both Celebrity and Azamara. Our room steward has also been excellent so that is a positive.
  20. On board QM2 this week and we have had 3 different Planetarium shows so far. These 2 and one titled "Infinity Express". We saw "Rock the Dome Side B" today and enjoyed it.
  21. Onboard QM2 now, day 4 and we agree! We sailed Celebrity Beyond in April and had a fabulous time but have referred to that as our "party cruise" - a completely different experience to QM2. We are soaking up the history, the elegance, and the variety of entertainment (which leans more "traditional" and less "Vegas" than what we experienced (but thoroughly enjoyed)) on Celebrity Beyond. Afternoon tea in the Queens Room yesterday was wonderful and I find sweets/pastries to be far superior to what we had on Celebrity. Britannia dinner food and service has been a little hit or miss for us so far. We have especially enjoyed the small bites in Carinthia lounge for breakfast and lunch.
  22. This is a good point because there is a lot of "form over function" seating on Edge class. We tried Cyprus and Cosmopolitan on Beyond. Cosmo chairs were much more comfortable for us. Main reason we kept coming back was our great service team but we also liked the decor there.
  23. Hope all is going well on your crossing @IB2 We've been following on cruise mapper and see the more southern route to avoid the storm remnants. We board in Brooklyn on Friday and looks like a beautiful day of weather for your arrival and our departure. Hopeful all will go smoothly and on time.
