Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We did the Anthem out of Cape Liberty already. . . it wasn't our favorite ship, no desire to do the same ship out of the same port to the same locations again. Funny though, Anthem isn't sailing out of Port Liberty in June/July when we can sail - they must be moving it elsewhere.
  2. Thanks everyone - you all gave me a lot to think about. We definitely don't want to be on ship for 7 days straight no matter how lovely it is. I watched some videos on Nassau and the port area looks a lot different than the last time we were there, so we can just walk around that area where it's fenced in - apparently that area is very safe. Coco Cay looks a lot different that the last time we were there too, so we can hop off the ship and do a couple hours there anyway. Cape Canaveral looks pretty blah to be honest, we aren't really beach people so Coco Cay will be enough of that for us, and there doesn't seem to be anything else to do there (we already did Kennedy and all those attractions other times we vacationed in Orlando). I was kinda hoping we might be able to take some short of shuttle to Orlando but not sure if that's possible. Unfortunately with both of our work schedules, we are limited to June/July, and we love the idea of driving to a port from Ontario as opposed to the hassles of flying these days, and flying anywhere from Canada is stupid expensive.
  3. Yeah they are pretty nice but we are driving from Canada to Bayonne hahahaha - and I'm from Newfoundland so I'll pass of those lol.
  4. I am looking into 2 cruise options out of Cape Liberty this summer. One is on the Liberty with the only port of call being Bermuda - we are fine with that, we went there on a cruise on Anthem years ago and wished we had more time to explore Bermuda, so that solves that problem as we would be there for 2 days. The other option is on the Symphony but it goes to ports we aren't crazy about: Port Canaveral (meh), Coco Cay (big yuck for us), and Nassau (meh). Our first cruise many many years ago was on the Navigator when she was brand new, and actually really liked it, so we wouldn't mind Liberty although we know she's old and from what I've read, could use an update. It would definitely be nice to check out the Symphony, but alas the ports are kinda meh. The last consideration is that I did the math, and I guess Bermuda must be more expensive for the cruise line because overall the Symphony is $362 CAD per person/night for 7 nights, whereas the Libert\y is $408 CAD pp/pn for 5 nights. Also the Symphony is a 7 night cruise which would be nice, it's only a 5 nighter for the Liberty. So do I want the newer ship that costs a bit less per night but to ports we aren't crazy about, or an older ship to a port we love at a slightly higher cost per night and a shorter cruise. Opinions welcome. 🙂 (edited to add: the cost is for a guarantee balcony - we don't mind living dangerously lol)
  5. Thanks for the replies - and if I remember correctly, you can message the ppl you are cruising with as well, correct? It's been so long since we cruised I'm trying to remember all the details.
  6. Hi guys - my first post. I did a search but didn't see an answer. Many years ago we did a a cruise on Anthem when she was brand new, and the app was really handy - just wondering if that is used across all ships? This time we are looking to do a cruise on Liberty out of Cape Liberty and was wondering since that is an older ship, does RC offer the app for use on that ship as well. TIA.
