  1. My most recent experience was Escape in Venice (aka Trieste) late June. No security before check-in. X-ray and magnetometer screening was after shoreside desks and before gangway, but in the terminal. Likely widely varies port to port.
  2. You’ll get a credit that will essentially cover the ala carte charge for app, entree and dessert, in my experience. As far as boarding…the 930 time is when you can show up at the pier. You’ll drop your luggage, check in at the desk, get your cards, and then wait for the boarding to begin, when you’ll clear security and embark. As you said, it will work out!
  3. We were on Escape in Europe last month. Can confirm morning service only. As we sailed with twin teen girls, can also confirm upper and lower bunks were never stowed during the day…just remade.
  4. Based on my recent experience on Escape, It is prorated but not up front. If you purchase the package using the NCL app, the price offered will be for all of the remaining days, but will be lower as each day goes by. I don’t believe you can say on day 1 “I want the package, but only the last few days”.
  5. Also…there were signs in multiple places on the ship about special VAT charges applicable to purchases (usually beverages) made while in port or territorial waters of Spain and France. These charges do not apply to those on UBPs.
  6. Just off the Escape med last week. MDR options for breakfast and lunch will be limited. Many bars are closed. Fewer entertainment options before dinner. Shops on board and casino always closed in port, but plenty of options to relax indoors or out. The spa usually runs specials on port days. Also, don’t think the ship will be a ghost town. The med is HOT in July and August….we saw many guests returning to ship long before all aboard time, particularly in smaller calls like Cannes, Corfu, Palma,Malta.
