Fascinating thread, and everyone’s choices are right for them.
I started with a “free” balcony sailing via CAS for our Alaska cruise on the Jewel next month, club balcony was available at time of booking for only $60 more/per person, so booked that. $120 addtl to base fare.
Then I started researching more and realized that 1) we’re not cruisers and this is probably a one and done and 2) the aft facing suite category came with so many more perks (priority boarding/B&Ls in Moderno & Cagneys/glacier viewing invites on Haven sundeck/butler & concierge service/daily treats and elevated service/etc etc) that it seemed like a no-brainer to me for my double nickels bday to pull the trigger for $3k total.
So for $214/pp/per day, will it be worth it? I dunno, but I also don’t care, because it’s my bday and I wanted it. 😉

There are going to be changes in two weeks. No more Grey Goose either. Also no more Budweiser (just Bud Light.)
I wonder if they’re replacing the Goose with another brand?
(not a big deal for me as I actually prefer the Chopin in a martini with a few olives, but I do like a Goose & Club Soda)

You have set yourself up perfectly! All you need now is to book a hot stone massage with Andalie!
bwahahaha, YES! I read that post (and saved her name in my trip notes) to my husband (who loves deep tissue) and he completely agrees.

They really made our birthdays special. We do this trip each year and have had the same concierge for years.I teared up when they brought the cake out for dad!
What excursions are you doing?
We’re following your lead, of course.
Let’s see…
Hubbard Glacier excursion/boat thingy.
Gondola at Icy Strait.
Streetcar in Skagway.
Jayleen’s whale watching in Juneau.
Sea crab in Ketchikan.
FAS+ locked in, Thermal Spa passes secured, and looking forward to making friends with our butler and concierge.
Dinners booked are Teppenyaki, Cagney’s, La Cucina and Le Bistro.
The rest we will play by ear. Your advice that I’ve gleaned from your reports is invaluable, thank you so much! (Especially since my husband is also a vegetarian, so that aspect has helped immeasurably in my planning too)

OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!!
These pictures are amazing!!! Welcome home and I hope you’re finally feeling a bit better.
All of these posts today are just amazing, thank you again for sharing your adventures with Dad!
I love the pics of you both with the crabs, but I have to say, Dad’s birthday towel cake made me tear up a little bit and I’m so happy he loved it too! (His real cake is even more stunning!)
This morning I awoke at the 21 day mark with an email to check-in from NCL for our 6/3 sailing on the Jewel and I have my fingers crossed for a towel cake too! (Our sail date is my actual bday and your father and I also share the same first name)

No, and with the full day in Nassau (and waterslides at Atlantis), this looks more like a family/kids cruise than anything. Especially with the possibility of Thanksgiving break happening around that time, although I don’t know what day it falls on this year and would be heavily school dependent upon their time off.

Whatever.
I certainly got a few glasses with P+ last week, as do many other people every day in Le Bistro.
I will continue to give people the full answer, however much that upsets you.
The only one upset given your comments seems to be you.
The more bubbles the better, for everyone, regardless of package purchased.
Great intel on Magnum’s too, I’ll give that a try in June and report back!

The question was whether Veuve is available with P+. The correct answer is that it is included at Le Bistro, and generally not elsewhere. I didn’t say you were incorrect, but expanded on your answer.
Best to give people all the information.
The question was whether Veuve is included in the premium plus package. As I posted in my screen shot above, it is not. The exception to availability in Le Bistro had already been posted by Coastalbreezes before you chimed in, so there was no reason to include information that had already been covered.
I find CC to be all about the specifics and semantics, so here we are.
Happy Cruising and may the bubbles be always in your favor.

It is still included in Le Bistro.
That was not the question. Pommery Rose is included in the package, Veuve is an exception in Le Bistro and not available elsewhere onboard without a charge.

That is for embarking and debarking, not port of call stops.
Well, tell that to the folks on the Prima that stopped there on April 23rd from St. Thomas.
Who knows, maybe it's dependent upon traffic and berth availability on each specific day?

The ship is doing their full crew emergency drill today. Artificial smoke will be used in today’s drill.
I’m sure Dad will love that. Good luck. 😉

This seems like the most relevant place to drop this info.:
We're sailing on the Jewel on 6/3 (24 days still sailing date as of today), and I noticed on the pricing/calendar grid that there was a small price drop between the balcony and suite categories (I had originally applied a CAS free balcony cert for the sailing, and then paid the differential to upgrade to the suite category).
I called in as I was hopeful that I could pick-up a few hundred $$$ in a FCC, but surprisingly the agent offered to do it as onboard credit instead. I just looked at the booking online and she's applied On-Board Credit Certificates for $155/per, so $310 total. For 15 minutes on the phone, not a bad deal.
(2) for $100/per, (2) for $50/per and (2) for $5/per.

NCL Brass will want this settled as quickly and quietly as possible, which means a generous settlement and an NDA on the terms. I can almost guarantee you that is what will happen here, and none of us will know the outcome. That’s why they flew there and are handling this in person. The alternative PR that would result from this moving forward in the court of public opinion, and/or law all but makes it a fait accompli. It’s really that simple.

From all the media reports I have seen, NO ONE was seriously hurt or needed off ship medical attention.
What are you talking about?!?! He attacked 5 people, one of which was a 75 year old female passenger who was stabbed with scissors in her arm, hand and face.
That's serious.
He's been apprehended by the FBI and senior NCL execs are now onsite to deal with the repercussions.

She’s going to get a whole lot more than a free cruise.Horrific, and I feel terrible for that passenger and her family/friends who were likely traveling with her as well.
Yes, depending upon the extent of her injuries (which sound bad), this will end in serious litigation, no doubt.

I prebooked Teppenyaki on the Jewel for June at about 45 days out. Oddly, it only offered for a party of 4, which I booked, although there are only 2 of us. I’ll let the concierge now when I request a couple of other revisions onboard. Same for Le Bistro.

Definitely purchase the spa thermal pass in advance. With the decline in entertainment and on board daytime activities the spa is popular and the number of passes are limited to prevent overcrowding. Passes sold out on our cruise.
10-4, done, and thank you!

When the Jewel goes into her 21-day dry dock in Marseille the thermal spa and Le Bistro will both be revitalized. The goal in the thermal spa is to make the therapy pool less noisy. That thing gurgles like a lactose intolerant dinosaur after eating an ice cream parlour!
You’re hilarious and I’m loving this report just as much, if not more than your others. Dad (despite the full Monty in the spa) seems to be doing relatively well this trip! And your pics (especially Glacier) are fantastic!Question: I’m considering adding thermal for our 6/3 sailing from Seward, which it seems you more than enjoy, gurgling aside. Should I buy in advance for $199/pp for the week, or since we’ll be adding treatments onboard with a tour, would it be better to wait and combine all onboard? Any thoughts?

To try and close the loop on this Skagway question, I actually reached out to the Visitors Center this am and they just responded! Much like in @YVRteacher’s recap, they ended up in RRF, and needed to tender. This dock position was confirmed by the VC as the only one that requires it. Hopefully RRA sticks for both our dock assignments, and we can avoid that.
and here is the link:-

I don't see a where it tells me if we are docked or Tendered. I just see letters after the cruise ships w/o a guide to what they stand for.
RRA and RRF are both on the Railroad Dock where the rock slide occurred.
There is a still a large rock that presents a danger that they've been unable to move, so no passengers are allowed to walk on the dock.
So in the case of the Jewel, you dock at RRA (railroad aft), although it sounds like last week they took RRF (railroad forward).
So you are docked, but you have to tender, since you can't walk on the deck.Tender to the marina, and then walk into town.
Hope that helps, I'll be doing the same on 6/7.

What's Your Financial Breakpoint In a Balcony?

I like her rules. This is also why I threw in FAS+ and Thermal Spa for the week into my cart. I like top shelf and I like to relax (no Vibe on the Jewel), so if you’re (aka me) going to do it, do it right if you can afford it and more importantly, if it has value to your specific cruising experience.
