Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I think everyone needs to do their math. We're in an 11 day cruise with only two sea days, so it does not make sense for us to get the premium drink package at all (sorry, classic package not good enough).
  2. It's like going to a restaurant, ordering an $80 steak, but getting a bill for $95 while being told the service was assumed to be so great you would naturally pay $15 tip, not $20 for extraordinary service, not $10 for less than stellar; it is no longer your choice any more the amount of tip you give, we the restaurant, decide what you will tip.
  3. Plus 20% mandatory service charge on top of that price, don't forget.

  5. 1. Regular included coffee is fine, no need for fru fru mocha choca whatever = 0.00 2. One beer/piña colada during the day = $12 3. One cocktail before dinner: $17 4. One glass of wine with dinner: $12 5. One after dinner drink: $17 Sorry, didn't keep menu with prices.
  6. Here's our quote for 11 night drink package
  7. By the way, I'm not the only one that thinks this way; https://www.cruisecritic.com/articles/11-signs-you-should-not-buy-a-cruise-beverage-package?lid=k7y5ad44fqwb&crm_source=58226&crm_pos=us&crm_cid=504fcb63-c470-41b1-b5af-3ac96d71211a&crm_rid=wWV7eI4BVTKklrs6ukm2&crm_cname=03.27.24 US Insider - Other - 11 Signs You Should Not Buy a Beverage Package
  8. Like McDonald's, there's always people that need the low pay. I agree, not much to do about it, doesn't mean it's just and we shouldn't call them on it. We still have a 1st amendment, right?
  9. You are correct, it boils down to math. Here's my math (not a big drinker): 1. Regular included coffee is fine, no need for fru fru mocha choca whatever = 0.00 2. One beer/piña colada during the day = $12 3. One cocktail before dinner: $17 4. One glass of wine with dinner: $12 5. One after dinner drink: $17 Sub-total: $58 Plus 20% gratuity: $12 Total: $70 Celebrity package: $80 Plus mandatory gratuity: $15 Math: $80-$70= $10 cheaper than package More importantly, principle: $12-$15 = $3 day Celebrity pockets for itself and doesn't give to it's underpaid employees (employees gets tips depending on listed price of drink every time they swipe your card when you get a drink, not based on overall gratuities Celebrity charges their guests). Principle.
  10. Good point, sometimes they will offer a good all inclusive, just not always, certainly not in the last two cruises we've been.
  11. We always used to get all inclusive on Celebrity, but the current Celebrity drink package is not worth the price. We priced the cost for our 11 day cruise and it was outrageous. Not only do they charge $80/day/person, but they tack 20 percent gratuity on top of it! I normally give a base of 20 percent in tips, normally more, based on the quality of the service provided, but to be forced to pay for tips in advance is basically subsidizing Celebrity for not paying their employees a living wage in the first place. I find this outrageous in principle since most of the days I will not be drinking $80 worth of drinks, again subsidizing Celebrity with tips for service not even provided. Absolutely outrageous! Ergo, I will be paying tips only for the drinks I order, the drink package is worthless.
  12. That's because the 20 percent gratuity was added when you first bought the drink package. We just added the $80/day/person premium drink package for our upcoming 11 night cruise and the total bill was: $80/day/2ppl/11 days = 1,759.58 Gratuities = 351.78 Total: 2,111.56 See attached.
  13. Cruise stitch, Agree, disappointing but you are correct.
