  1. Same exact thing happened to us except it was steak & eggs. When others heard my request they wanted it also. (Was great)

I also had two lattes every morning. The waiters are excellent about exactly how you want it. They would say a little mocha added or a little less or none @ all. I should have gotten it skinny style, but you know how it is. You can also ask for it decaf made with a double shot of decaf expresso. That way the even thou it was decaf it was strong.

The menu is not that large, but you can order anything:D

I think they put their best waiters and waitresses, and helpers there. We don't like Italian food, so we don't eat dinners there, so I don't know if the wait staff work Sabatini's at night or not.

  2. Breakfast in Sabitinis is the best! Beautiful view out the back of the dining room. Attentive wait staff that will get to know you. Quiet and relaxed. It's a great suite perk!

We agree, it's the one perk we like the most. My DW loves the hot chocolate, better than the coffee bars.

  3. Clearly they knew there was a storm there. I don't think anyone debates that.

I strongly suspect they also figured it was tolerable and within acceptable (if albeit perhaps not ideal or perfectly comfortable) limits.

It seems evident something changed along the way. A captain wouldn't knowingly put himself, a billion dollar ship, and thousands of passengers in harms way.

So lets get real here and stop judging based on what clearly appears to be a fair share of misinformation (disembarking, "too damaged to continue") and unformed guesses based on a lack of knowledge and understanding. How about waiting for the facts?

If they had not sailed there'd be another thread full of members bitching about their itinerary changing, or loosing a day of their cruise. "It looks fine on my iPhone!" many would be screaming from their staterooms, in true armchair quarterback fashion.

Even on the Princess forum, they complained about missing ports because Princess didn't feel they were safe. It wasn't long after the terrorist attack in Turkey, there were complaints written.

  4. Well that's no use to anyone , unless that wall has been opened by crew member . So , in the event of an emergency , can you imagine the hysteria around that wall of glass as everyone clamours to get their life jacket out of storage . A shockingly stupid move by RC . .

That was my first thought. What if a fire was burning in the area of life vest storage room. I can also see problems, if passengers were forced to go back to their cabins to get their vests. The passageway would more than likely be so crowded, that it might not be passable. I guess the only sure way to make it safe, is for passengers to always wear their vests when out of their cabin. That would not be fun.

  5. No technology can predict the unpredictable..... you are absolutely correct on your 2 posts.... thanks for posting

I have to agree. How can anyone say RCI would take chances with the passengers lives. While in the Navy, we went through a typhoon in the Sea of Japan. I know what it feels like and how the passengers, who don't cruise often would get the opinion that the Captain knew what was coming. No way would any cruise Captain would take chances.

  6. We refer to this in our planning process as 'be back aboard in time for the 'running of the passengers'. Especially fun if our balcony is portside :)

Especially in Mexico, because of the bars on shore. Almost every cruise someone is helped aboard. Especially in Cabo. Some of the others we have seen running to the ship are usually carrying shopping bags. It's a great show.

  7. We booked the Grand out of San Francisco on May 1st (10 nights to Mexico). First time cruisers on Princess. Reading a lot of mixed reviews.

We have been perfectly happy on Celebrity, HAL and RCI. (Celebrity Summit, RCI Jewel, and a few of the Dam ships), also, we do fine on Carnival. I am 55, wife is 50. We cruise for the ports, food, entertainment, some chill out time, and I like the casino. We like the idea of sailing out of SF as we are locals. No Flights! We booked a mini-suite and are excited about the cabin layout, it looks nice.

Please let us know the good things about Princess and the Grand out of SF. Thanks.

We took a 10 Day to Mexico in November. We didn't see any of the problems earlier reported, and the food was good. What we didn't like was the lack of stairs aft. It was difficult sometimes to find the right elevator that would higher than lido. My DW doesn't want to sail her again, I don't have a problem.

  8. First cruise in almost 20 years! Have been looking at this cabin, any ideas, pictures or other helpful information about this aft cabin? British Isles cruise in May '17. Any other things that will clue me into what has changed in the cruising world since the 90s will be helpful too. Thanks!

We're in c750, which next door. Glad you loved your cabin.

  9. That was just reported very recently...........which highlights what I was trying to say....we just don't have a very clear picture yet. A chance at Guillian Barre is not something that I want to deal with.....!!

I agree with you. We don't know what the long term affects are yet. I don't plan on cancelling our cruise, but we will be careful on what excursions we take. Luckily our cruise is a year away, hopefully they will have more information.

  10. No....it's transmitted from mosquito to person, not from person to person. So far, the CDC reports no "native" Zika in the US -- i.e. everyone in the US with it has caught it while traveling, not while in the US. There is concern, though, that a different species of mosquito might be able to transmit Zika if the virus changes (as viruses do sometimes).

Sorry, according to the CDC, there are cases of sexual transmission.

  11. What is the difference between the Balcony and Premium balcony? Premium is $100 more per person difference for a Coral Princess Panama Cruise. Is it worth it?

The premium balcony has always been worth the money to us. We started with the Caribe balcony, then moved to the aft balcony and now suites. What can I say, we love large balconies. This one of the reasons we won't sail Regal or Royal. We love the Grand class ships.

  12. I wear a Tux because they take plenty Photos and you can pick the ones you want to keep or none. It isn't hard sell and we have recd a lot of nice compliments. Can't even tell I'm a Redneck. It's fun and I love to people watch. Wear a Tux and Gown and go out on the Promenade!

I miss the days when you could rent a tux onboard, I can't see buying one for one cruise a year. I just wear my formal suit, that is also usable at other times of the year.

  13. Keep in mind that the Navigator was built by Radisson (before they changed their name to Regent two owners ago). The ship has been so popular that the current and previous owners (Apollo/Prestige Cruise Holdings and Apollo/NCHL) decided to invest more money into the ship and keep it going. NOTE: The hull was sold AFTER the fall of the Soviet Union and, IMO, is not a reason not to sail on a ship.

    We like the Mariner better.

  14. A bit more?:rolleyes::rolleyes:

She has a hull built for a Soviet military ship and sails like one--and unlike any cruise ship I've ever been on. That alone is a very good reason to avoid her. The vibration everywhere aft is pervasive, and unacceptable on a ship billed as providing a "luxury" experience.

Why would any Cruise ship line, especially one who specializes in luxury use a hull (or anything at all) built in the Soviet Union. That alone would stop us from sailing on the Navigator. I'm glad I read this thread, we were looking on some sailings.

  15. Our season starts October so I'm not surprised.

Your other choices are also pretty good.

Have you thought about staying elsewhere and not staying on 17th Street?

A1A is still a short cab ride from Port Everglades.

    Courtyard Marriott

    Bahia Mar

    Lago Mar

    Marriott Harbor Beach

    Hilton FLL Beach

    The W

    Ritz Carlton

    Westin

    They are all excellent choices.

I have received some good choices. We have never been to Florida before, we might come a little earlier than we thought. It might be fun to see some sights.

  16. Hyatt Place on 10th (next to Embassy Suites)

Renaissance on 17th St (across the street from the entrance to the port) We have walked in before if the ships at Pier #2/4

    Embassy Suites

The Pier 66 would be my last choice.

I will say the Renaissance must be good, it's booked through December.

  17. Hyatt Place on 10th (next to Embassy Suites)

Renaissance on 17th St (across the street from the entrance to the port) We have walked in before if the ships at Pier #2/4

    Embassy Suites

    Thank you

  18. After reading Trip advisor and other publications, we still not sure where to stay, before our cruise. Hyatt pier 66 didn't get good reviews. It seems to be the closest to the Port, any suggestions.

    Thanks
