Yes to both.  There are trees providing shade, plus many umbrellas, and chairs in sun and shade both -- all free/included.

Pics below are from a couple weeks ago.

View of the ship from the beach at Columbus Cove. The jet-skis in the foreground are in storage only; the actual jet-ski excursions take off from a point closer to the ship.

    Are these chairs free?

  2. Last year, our Alaska cruise was cancelled and we rebooked for this year.  Took 90 days for the FCC to be applied to the new cruise and we had to pay an additional deposit to book this year's.  Then, in Feb of this year, our cruise for this July was cancelled...117 days ago.  We opted for the refund this time.  so far, we have the extra deposit back, but not the actual cruise fare.  I am not happy at all.  They are enjoying my money and the interest, as I paid for 4 people which totalled over $20,000!!

Well, first they aren't suites-just Club Class mini-suites.  They are by far our very favorite cabins on the Royal Class ships because the cabin has 2 rooms (living room, bedroom) and the balconies are just incredibly massive.  The Lido Deck ones are very big but the Marina Deck ones are the biggest.  WAY bigger than any aft cabin including suites.  I think the 2 new Sky Suites on the Sky Princess are the only 2 balconies that are bigger.  This is M-108 on the Sky:

Oh, thank you so much for sharing these photos.  These look very nice!!

You must be heartbroken.   I have been trying to rebook out canceled Alaskan cruise but have not been having any luck with their website.   As soon as I find the cruisetour that I like, it comes up as technical difficulties or no pricing available.   I am trying to book a grand suite.   We were booked in one corner owners suite on the Pacific Princess.  And I am afraid they will send her down under and never bring her back.   Most Alaskan cruises in June say their suites are sold out.   I am getting very frustrated.  There also seems to be tons of cruisetours offered.  And I can't find any difference in some of them.

Yes, I must say we were heartbroken!!  We did our rebooking in April, as soon as they cancelled our cruise for this year.  (Still haven't received our FCC or anything on that, by the way).  But we are waiting patiently.  As for the cruise tour, it took us a long time LAST year when we were planning for this summer to decide, but once we did and then had to rebook, I wanted to stick with the same tour number we had so I wouldn't have to research everything again.  Then, based on that tour number, we then started looking at what ships offered it and the dates.  We obviously didn't get our same ship, nor dates, going from July to June, but at least we're booked with some what should be nice suites and a beautiful ship.  I hope everything works out for your trip!!

just to be sure, you are aware that a lot of the perks that came with the Grand Suite on the Grand aren't the same as the Club Class Mini's on any ship, correct ?

Oh yes, we are very aware.  Unfortunately we had no choice, as the Grand will not be sailing in Alaska next year, and the grand suites on the other ships are no where near as nice as the one on the Grand Princess was going to be.  So, we decided on the two separate suites. Thanks!!

It all depends on what's important to you.  I would never book Club Class for the perks that come with it.  They just aren't worth that much to me at all.  What I will book Club Class for is the cabin location on the Royal Class ships.  I happen to love the forward corner mini-suites with the massive balconies (M-107, 108 & L-107, 108) and they just happen to be CC.

We have just rebooked our Alaska cruise for 2021.  Had to change from the Grand to the Royal, and went from 1 Grand Suite to 2 Club Class suites (M107 & M108).  Would love to see photos and hear all your details of those two cabins!!

  7. I have a March 2nd cruise booked that was originally supposed to stop in Nassau, but when I looked at my "Manage My Booking" page on Carnival's website, they have changed our itinerary to now stop at Freeport rather than Nassau.  I'm a bit confused!!

This was our fourth or fifth Chef's Table. They had three CTs. Advice? Don't eat all the olives! 🙂 Sorry, that became an inside joke - and you'll understand why after your CT.  Words of wisdom - pace yourself. 🙂 If you've never done a CT, it's a 3 hour event and definitely worth it!

Did you reserve the Chef's Table prior to sailing?  Did you get to pick which night you did it?  We're on a short 5-night cruise.

    Thanks!

Citing from the news sources ( I have not actually read the govt release) people who had already paid for their trip could still go and be exempt. Since the 6/3 sailing had already left everyone would have been paid in full. This means that it still could have gone( if the news sources are correct). I would have not booked this cruise if it were not for Cuba. It was the only reason I was on the ship. Plus other sources on this site say that the price was inflated because of the CUba destination by ~20-40%.  A 50% refund would be admirable by the company. I have cruised the most with Carnival than any other cruise line. This will be my last  one if amends are not made.

So, what does everyone think the chances might be that Carnival upgrades, revises or changes their offers of compensation/refund, etc. at this point?  Or are they simply gonna stay as they are?  Just wondering..

I'm booked for June 2020.  I'm waiting to see the new itinerary and then I'll decide what to do. Considering they are refunding "payments in full" and it's a year in advance I don't have a problem with no OBC.  However, I do expect a price drop (I know I can cancel and rebook).  The only reason I booked this was for Cuba, so honestly, ports I've been to and ports I can go to all the time won't be much of an incentive.

So...I just logged in and my manager is showing almost the exact itinerary as the cruise I'm going on in a few day (less one port).  Going to cancel...........

After seeing your post, I went to my Cruise Manager page too, as we have not heard anything yet for our 8/31/19 sailing date.  It is showing the itinerary change there now.  We are going to Grand Cayman looks like.

  11. We are booked on the August 31st sailing , which already has a stop in Cozumel.  I saw on another site that Havana might be replaced with Grand Cayman, but not confirmed.

And I agree with PhillyFan33579, any day on a cruise is going to be a great day.  I booked equally for Cuba and for the dates coinciding with my birthday, so I really don't mind where we go.  Will miss doing the vintage cars, but not upset about it.

The medallion does not cost anything and will come with a free lanyard or some other "attacher".  The medallion and its free lanyard/attacher will be shipped to you for free or can be picked up at the port.

If you want, you can purchase a bracelet, a necklace and/or various other pretties when you order your medallion and they will charge for shipping the pretties. You can also buy the pretties on the ship. There is an inexpensive Fitbit bracelet available on Amazon that a number of folks have ordered to hold their medallion.

voljeep types faster than I do.😄

Thanks to both of you!!  I am booked for a 2020 Alaska cruise on the Grand Princess, so I am looking forward to this new feature!!  Didn't know if I needed to do something to get signed up for it or not.
