  1. Travelling with sisters and our DHs.

All of us in suites for the first time.

Breakfast (and lunch, when excursions allow) in Cagney's.

    The thermal spa with DSs

    Cool weather and fall colors.

Visiting some new states for the first time.

    First cruise as Platinum.

Another week of vacation after the end of the cruise, the 6 of us driving through NY, VT, and NH back to Boston.

Seeing friends outside of Boston before returning to reality.

  2. Oops, the only thing you don't get both of is the dessert. The alternate the placement of them, and you and your SO may share each, if you wish.

There are pictures of each course in the reviews in my signature, below.

  3. I am a little confused; is everything on the menu served or do you get a choice? For example, it looks like there are three items as appetizers--the mango amuse bouche, the tomato lavosh (whatever that is), and ahi tuna tartare--you get all of those? It also lists pan seared sea bass and milk-fed veal chop (with potatoes and spinach)--each sounds like an entree--you get both? It seems like an awful lot of food (a number of which do not appeal to me, but others do).

Yes, you get everything! The chef comes out and introduces each item, describing how they were prepared; some take three days! The somilier then introduces a wine to go with each course.

With before-dinner drinks and after-dinner drinks, it's quite an intimate, enjoyable evening. Photos are also included of the group and one of you or your and your SO with the chef.

  4. We were on our first NCL cruise on the Getaway in May and didn't receive our pins. Should you receive them on your first cruise if you've enrolled in Latitudes?

Unfortunately, you're not officially a member of Latitudes until after your first cruise. You should be eligible for them from now on.

  5. I am planning to detemine just how much I spend on drinking on my next cruise. Not that I don't watch it, but I never break down my final bill to determine how many of the charges were for drinks.

I've prepaid DSC, excursions, and my spa pass, and will be Platinum for the first time (YEA!), and will be in a suite. So most of our on-board charges will be for drinks and what we buy on board. I can't think I could ever drink enough to make the UBP worthwhile. I honestly don't even know how much it costs; I've never paid attention!

All this is said to say I would not like there to be just an all-inclusive package, either; I want to make my own choices.

  6. "Hi Wendy!! So glad to see you here. Are you actually able to type now with your wrist? Hope you are doing well and I miss the ma'ams. Hopefully we can do a reunion some day in the future."

Yes, am using my left hand when I type, but it is a slow process, and I do a lot of retyping because of typos. My fingers even can't move yet like they're supposed to. I'm in what I call the frustrating stage: feel like doing things, but frustrated that I can't!!! At least I'm in a cast I can remove to shower! Counting life's blessings for sure.

Yes, we're on the Dawn out of Boston for our Canada/New England cruise. Three of the Ma'ams will be sailing with our DHs, and we do plan to write a review after. We still would like to do a review of our Sun cruise, but have just not gotten the time. Boy, do we have some stories to tell from that one!

Glad to see you are considering Alaska. Even though it may not be warm, the photographer in you will absolutely love it! Maybe that can be our reunion cruise as I'm ready to go back. My cruising is slowing down while DD and family are in Germany, though. Costs too much to go see them, and it depletes my cruising budget!

Well, I see you've continued your review, so I'd better catch up!

  7. Hi,

Unfortunately that store does not sell liquor/beer/wine. However, there is a liquor store close by but it's a little tricky to get there. You can ask at the front desk and they will give you walking directions. As an alternatve to Subway and the restaurant near the bowling complex, you'll pass a place called Lambert's Rainbow Fruit on the way to the liquor store. They make fabulous sandwiches that are huge and the cost is very reasonable. You can pick up snacks there as well.

    Thank you, NanaBet!

  8. Hey, Kim! Nice to "see" you on a review again! I got through the first day of your review and had to stop to post something that I remembered. Bobby was the cruise director on our November Sun cruise. I wasn't too impressed, but it was probably because we weren't too interested in a lot of activities on that cruise, so we didn't see him often.

We'll be on the Dawn out of Boston in September, and am considering the hotel you stayed in pre-cruise. Could you recommend it? Can you tell me if you happened to see if wine was available at the grocery store you went to for your pop? Hope they sell it there so we don't have to search for a wine store.

Enjoying the review, now on to day 2!

  9. Thank you, Michael, for this trip tour. It's been 40 years (!) since I was above the Article Circle in Norway myself! This is one cruise my DH says he would love to do, he's not as much as a cruise enthusiast as I am.

Love seeing the changes to the Star. The Star Bar was our favorite place for a drink; looks about the same from the pictures you posted.

    Where was the M & G? I didn't recognize the area.
